San Francisco Apartment Dwellers Can Finally Get EV Chargers

In a brief news update, Austin Klar reports that Mayor London Breed (actually Mayor Lurie per transcript) and Board of Supervisors President Aaron Mandelman have introduced legislation to establish San Francisco's first curbside electric vehicle (EV) charging program. The bill creates a new permitting process, modeled after last year's temporary curbside EV charging pilot, allowing homeowners, renters, and business owners to obtain permits for curbside EV chargers more quickly and efficiently. The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) will administer the permits and begin accepting applications this summer. The initiative addresses the city's high EV adoption rates and the lack of charging infrastructure for renters and residents of older condo buildings, aiming to expand access to EV charging across the city.
