Signs of life at an historic shipbuilding hub turned mixed-use community on San Francisco's central waterfront. Brookfield's Pier 70 development is one of 3 multibillion-dollar mixed-use communities being constructed on the central waterfront, but construction over the past several years has largely stalled there. One of the few places that has opened at the site is Historic Building 12, a 230,000-square-foot former World War II ship production site that has been turned into an awesome restaurant, recreation, and office space. And in good news, Brookfield just scored a massive lease for 70,000 square feet of office space with General Catalyst, an investment firm with tens of billions of dollars under management. Hopefully renewed interest in the development will push resumption of construction there so it's more in line with the progress that's being made at the nearby other communities that are being developed at Mission Rock and the Potrero Power Station. Let me know what you think of the building in the comments and follow me for more San Francisco real estate.
