Major update with the massive redevelopment at Candlestick Point. The commission overseeing the Office of Community Investment and Infrastructure has just approved a revised plan for the 280-acre project site that will enable construction to start next year. Five Point Holdings was given the green light to redevelop the site over 10 years ago, and their plans contemplated over 7,000 housing units and nearly a million square feet of commercial space. Revised plans now call for 50% taller buildings and more than double the commercial space. It also calls for over 7,200 units of housing, 32% of which will be dedicated to affordable housing, which is a really high ratio for projects in the city. The plan still has several administrative hurdles to get through, including Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors approvals. Hopefully those are happening soon. I'll be keeping apprised of the updates and will keep you posted, so follow along for more information.
