Austin Klar visits Lore, a new Mission District bar that hides an escape room behind a puzzle shop entrance. The 100-minute Alice in Wonderland game seats 45 at the bar, with actors delivering drinks as you solve puzzles. It's speakeasy meets escape room, all in one space.

San Francisco just got a whole new type of bar experience in the Mission District, and I think it's a great idea. It's called Lore, and it's the city's first escape room/speakeasy/events lounge. The location at 3065 16th Street does not have a sign with its name on it on the front door. Instead, there's just a sign that says puzzle shop, so definitely embracing the speakeasy vibe. The initial escape game is gonna be a 100-minute-long Alice in Wonderland type experience. There's also gonna be bar seating enough for 45 people, plus private rooms for another 2 dozen or so. And best part, you don't even have to exit the game to get a drink. Part of the game experience, when you solve certain puzzles, people will pop up and serve you drinks. It also sounds like it's gonna be more theatrical with actual actors presenting plot points in the game. I personally love escape rooms and I'm gonna be checking this out soon with some of my friends. Let me know what you think of the concept in the comments and follow me for more Bay Area activities.
