SF High Speed Rail Project Is Getting Housing?!

In this brief update, Austin Klar explains that San Francisco’s multibillion‑dollar high‑speed rail initiative—known as The Portal, which will extend the 4th & King Caltrain station to the Salesforce Transit Center and eventually link to California’s statewide high‑speed rail—has added a new residential component. Caltrain and Prologis, the owner of the 4th & King rail yard undergoing a large redevelopment, have hired design firm Christen Hall to draft plans for an approximately 850‑foot mixed‑use tower that would become one of the city’s tallest buildings. The proposed tower would combine housing, office space, open space, and the necessary infrastructure for the rail‑yard redevelopment. Formal plans have not yet been filed but are expected in the spring. Klar invites viewers to follow for future updates and to share their thoughts in the comments.
