This historic garden in Ross is hands down the best place to have a picnic in Marin County. The garden was started by early settlers and has trees on grounds dating back to the 1870s. It was sold to developers in 1943, but a group of members of the Marin Garden Club raised enough funds to buy an 11-acre plot from the developer and preserved it and turned it into what is now the Marin Arden Garden Center we know and love today. And it's much more than just a garden now. It hosts an artist group, 3 theatrical groups, the Ross Historical Society, and children's playground. And when weddings and other events aren't going on, it remains one of the most beautiful, most relaxing places in the area. It's right next to my favorite homes in Marin County, money in the town of Ross, you can walk to downtown Ross, get some food, and go enjoy an afternoon in the gardens.
