The Most Complicated Historic Restoration in San Francisco's Castro!

In this video, Austin Klar provides an enthusiastic overview of the $40 million restoration of San Francisco’s historic Castro Theatre, a landmark that opened as a retail store in 1910 and became a theater in the 1920s. He explains that the theater, still owned by the same family, is being leased to Another Planet Entertainment, which is undertaking the most intricate renovation to date. The project will restore original plaster walls, murals, columns, light fixtures, the marquee, and balcony seating while adding modern upgrades such as reconfigurable orchestra‑level seating, improved HVAC and accessibility, advanced sound and video systems, additional restrooms, and a movable bar. The theater is slated to reopen in the first quarter of 2026. Klar ends by inviting viewers to comment on the project and follow him for more Bay Area real estate updates.
