A massive warehouse in San Francisco is being converted into an artist and cultural space at Pier 29. The Community Arts Stabilization Trust has secured approval from the Port of San Francisco to convert and completely reimagine a 100,000-square-foot space at the vacant pier into a hub for creative artists and cultural programming. CAST is partnering with nonprofit Art Water to activate more than half the space with 30 different art pods. There's also going to be an event space capable of hosting 2,500 people. The space is expected to take about 6 months to construct, and once construction is done, they'll have a 2-year lease. And it's really good to see someone get use out of the area. It used to be a parking lot before it burnt down and it was rebuilt, and it's basically been vacant since the 2013 America's Cup.
