If you've ever wanted to travel in a supersonic commercial plane that'll get you from SFO to Tokyo in under 6 hours, you might be able to do that sooner than you think. The Colorado-based Boom Supersonic, backed by hundreds of millions of dollars of Silicon Valley investor money, is working on its Overture airliner that it hopes to bring to commercial availability in the next 5 years. They hit a major milestone in January when a scaled-down version of their eventual commercial aircraft broke the sound barrier, the first civilian aircraft to achieve that feat. Obviously a lot more the company needs to do to get to that point where these are commercially available, but how cool would it be to be able to get to your destinations in less than half the time? Let me know what you think in the comments. Yeah.
