Waterfront Park Coming to San Francisco in 2027

In this on‑camera update, Austin Klar explains the latest phase of the Potrero Power Plant redevelopment in Dogpatch, San Francisco. While the historic 300‑foot power stack will be preserved, the developers have postponed the originally planned boutique waterfront hotel and are instead creating a temporary 2.75‑acre arts and entertainment venue called Prequel Park, designed by Thomas Heatherwick (designer of New York’s Little Island). Klar outlines the park’s planned amenities—a 100‑person outdoor amphitheater, art gallery, sports track, and open green space—its estimated construction budget of $15‑$20 million, and its five‑year interim lifespan, after which the hotel will be built. The goal is to open the park in early 2027, and Klar invites viewers to follow him for future progress tours.
