I’m Having A Three***e And It Has Already Changed My Life

Luke Murray uses visualization of a future threesome to reframe his confidence at a networking event, imagining the validation as already real. He applies the same technique to his YouTube channel, testing both million-subscriber and ten-view scenarios to reduce performance anxiety and stay open to feedback.

I'm going to have a threesome this week, and I want to talk in this video about that being in my brain has totally changed my perspective. So you hear all the time about like, life is about perspective and, you know, be appreciative of what exists that you already have or whatever. But I'm going to a party, a 3-day-long party called Summit, and it's basically like if TED like the geniuses giving the talks and an LA party where everyone's beautiful and like a consciousness gathering, like all got together. So everyone there is beautiful, successful, oftentimes famous and so kind and so thoughtful. So it's very easy to compare yourself, to get intimidated, to feel not confident, to be like, I'm not allowed to be here. But through a series of events that deserves its own video, I'm going to have a threesome for the first time in my life with two beautiful women that are super pumped about it. And when I thought about that, I was like, wait a minute. Like, I really, I was like, man, I don't care what happens this weekend. Worst case scenario, I'm getting laid by two people at the same time. That's amazing. But I was like, wait a minute, but that hasn't happened yet. And that actually still might not happen for a variety of reasons. Like, it's still— it's not a guaranteed thing. But I recognize that walking into that environment as if that has already happened, or as if that's going to be happening, as if I've already felt what I'm excited to feel, which is just the sexual connection and validation of multiple women. Something that I don't know if other guys like, but I sure fucking do. So having in my brain, feeling the energy of that kind of validation That amount of like sexual worthiness reflected back to me makes me feel worthy. And that's the energy that I'm bringing into the room when I'm talking to, I don't know, Bill Gates or some movie star or whoever I might meet. And so I'm like, oh, how can I apply this to other parts of my life? So I was telling this story to the hairdresser. There was nobody else in Great Clips today. Thank goodness. Actually, that's why I decided to tell her. And I was like, oh, I could probably take that perspective of the, like, the I'm gonna have a 3 perspective and how much confidence that gives me in a social situation like that. Maybe I could apply it to my YouTube channel. And I was like, okay, well, what could I do? I'm like, well, I can just imagine I already have a million or a jillion or a trillion subs. And then I'm like, okay, cool. Now I'm like, it doesn't matter because I'm gonna get a million views no matter what. Then I kind of went the other direction. I was like, ooh, I'm going to keep the frame that like I will never get more than 10 views. Like I was originally thinking I just expect to get no views for a year and like how that would really like take the pressure off. No one's going to see this. No one's going to judge me because no one's going to give a shit. I mean, that's why I'm— that's why I'm going all in and talking about something as controversial as like, I'm going to bang two chicks at the same time. So crazy that I'm saying this out loud. I just shifted my brain to like, oh yeah, nobody cares. Nobody's going to see this. Nobody's going to watch this. Then I'm like, no, I actually do want the— I do want the feedback of like, I want to be authentically myself. But if this doesn't benefit someone in some way, if they're not served by it, then like there are plenty of other things that feel authentic to who I am that I'm excited to talk about that might actually serve people in some way where they would be either entertained or or educated or just able to look at the world in a new way. So I'm like, all right, I'm not going to use a million because then you could like, oh, you've got something to lose. I don't want to use zero because then like you're not actually open to the feedback that you get. So the mental reframe I did was, okay, I'm going to think of I'll never get more than 10 views and then I'm going to just move what that number is in my brain. Right now it's actually 10 views. If I get 10 views, And this is just a weird reframe that I'm doing in my brain. It's not real. But you know what else isn't real? Me doing two chicks at the same time. That hasn't happened. But in my brain, it's already a reality. And so again, when I walk up to the most powerful people on earth, I'm going to feel worthy because two chicks want to see me naked at the same time. Like, I'm just recognizing, wow, how that just changes my— again, how I present myself, how I see myself. So I'm trying to hack my brain to do other things. So I'm just going to say to myself as I start posting, I'm like, hey, 10 views is a 10 out of 10. And then once I get over 10 views, I'll be like, okay, well, 100 views. I'm just like going to turn 100 into 10. So if I get 50 views, I'm like, oh, I got 5 views. That's cool. And then maybe I'll change it to whatever, 200 or 500. Like, the point is, in my brain, I'm just going to think about I'm never— in order to take the pressure off, which would be zero, but be willing to give feedback, which would be a million. And both sides of those are, I don't think, serve me. I'm going to say, look, in my brain, I'm only going to think that 10 people are ever going to see this. And if I keep that frame, then I can still use the 1 to 10 rule in order to kind of get a feedback score without it decreasing my confidence because there's too much pressure. Because I imagine that I have a million, or that there's like no interest or openness to feedback because I just assume like, I'm just going to bury my head in the sand and make videos and not listen to anything that's happening for my audience. So I haven't thought of other ways to reframe my life, but that was the one that was most pertinent. I mean, I had this, this was confirmed or like looks like it's going to happen as of like yesterday. And then I realized, wow, this changes my perspective on myself, on the confidence I'm going to have going into this, this event that would otherwise could evoke a significant amount of social anxiety and self-doubt and all that stuff. And so I was like, well, what do I do all day where I'm feeling social anxiety or just doubt or fear? As I've posted in other videos, I feel fear before turning this camera on every time. So I'm like, oh, okay, well, I'll apply that reframing to this and just do the 10 views thing. But if I think of other ways in which I could apply it, I'll let you know. Tell me what you think. What in your life could you probably kind of— what would be— actually, this is the question. I've wanted to have a 3D printer like since I knew that was a thing that could happen. And so now I'm like, I can see like, oh, I'm going to experience this thing that like I never thought I would get to experience, you know? So I'm like really excited and made it real in my brain, and, and that's changed something for my, my confidence level. And so the question to you is, what is something that you never thought that you would experience? You know, whether it's again, getting married or making money or getting to a school or your dad loving you or whatever the hell it is, like, imagine that you had that, like, create that conversation with your dad or the bank teller that's like, hey, here, you got $1 million. And like, see what that does to your confidence. In other areas of your life potentially, or maybe even in the thing that you're going towards. Because another thing that's happening, and this is what I'll leave you with, is like, I'm almost over it, which is a shitty thing to say out loud, but like, I'm excited about it. It's going to be really cool. And because it's happened in my head, my buildup towards it is actually less intense, or I'm like, it's kind of already happened in my brain, so I'm already over it. Again, I'm not already over it. I'm very, very excited, but it has me see through the illusion that that's going to make me happy. Will it be an amazing experience? Absolutely. But it's not going to define me. It's not going to be the answer to all my problems. It's not going to be the only thing I'll ever want. Think of something that you want. Make it real in your brain. See if you could use that in other areas, that reframing in other areas, but also actually imagine that it already happened and sit there for a while. Sit there for a while with a billion dollars in your bank account. Like, what are you going to If you're sitting in a chair, you're driving your car, like, what is going to happen differently in that specific moment? Are you going to be driving a different car? Are you going to be going to a different job? Are you going to be sitting in your kitchen staring out the window? Like, if you just sit there, you have this beautiful opportunity potentially to see through the illusion of wherever you're headed being the answer to your problems. And you're provided then, if you see all the way through it before you get there, you have the opportunity to realize that the grass is green under your feet, and it always is if you would just look down and see it. So hopefully this is helpful for you. Just a recent realization that I was like super pumped to tell, I guess, my fucking hairstylist, and hopefully reframe. It's useful for you as well.
