This is a podcast titled "How to Start a Movement" recorded on August 16, 2023, featuring Brendon TEST Burchard delivering a motivational talk about entrepreneurship, marketing, and the importance of building movements beyond just selling products like books. The content focuses on strategies for scaling influence through ambassadors and consistent messaging that resonates with customers' language and struggles.
How many entrepreneurs? You do too much of it by yourself. That's where you're limiting the breakthrough. You need a crew, you need ambassadors. You need people who got your back, who they're selling for you when you're not selling. That's your best customers, that's your certified customers. That's whatever it is in your industry. But realize millions, the books are right along. Or Sparkpoint, the bigger movement is what's important. My biggest obstacle is how do you sell a million copies? Yeah, that's a big obstacle. Give a round of applause. It's a huge obstacle. I think the question is never how do you sell a million copies? The question is, how do you stay consistent in improving your message to break through? How do you stay consistent in improving your message to breakthrough? Because everyone thinks, well, I'll get on that show and it will happen. I have friends who were on today's show, you know, last year, who sold 1500 copies from their appearance. Right. And other people, it's 10,000. It's about learning the messaging. And here's the whole important thing about. For all those who want to do this, the number one thing you have to learn is when you're trying to sell anything or you want to go to that other level where you're reaching millions of people. Here's the trick. It's no longer your message. You now are learning and listening to the language of your customer. And when you're teaching, it's their problems, their world, their struggles, their difficulties. It's their language, where they go. It sounds like he's talking to me. It sounds like he's in my head. Sounds like she's saying what I really feel. Because what happens often in the book world, they're so adamant about getting you to define yourself, position yourself in the market. And I'm always like, actually talk to the market like they talk to themselves. And if you do that, that's important. The second thing, the only way a million copies happens is you have to learn to start a movement beyond the message. The book. We're gonna be talking about a million copies, and not a lot of books move a million copies. When a book hits a million copies, there was a movement beyond the book, the book that you were so hard trying to sell. Think about this. The book is now the ride along to the movement. It's like when you're getting dressed, right? It's like there's something bigger happening than just the purse. The purse is riding along. Well, some ladies would not agree. I know, but it's a Ride along. It's not the actual thing. See, there's a complete outfit happening. The purse is a piece of it. The book is a piece of a movement. So our job is to identify what's the movement. Everyone here who's in growth day, you want $100 million or a billion dollars of advice? Watch last month's pro training. Lisa Bilyeu teaching how to start a movement. She built a billion dollar company called Quest. Right. We had three or two billionaires teach. I taught a two hour masterclass on how to start a movement. So go watch. All just like literally six people blowing your mind about how to start a movement. That's what you're doing. You're not selling books, you're starting a movement. When you realize that everything shifts. And every contemporary movement, it wasn't a book. The book was a ride along. Maybe it was a spark point. Maybe it got a certain person used to it. But it's a bigger thing that you're going after. So my job, hone the message around the movement. Use their language, build. You'll see from my training, build ambassadors. The number one reason most authors or any business people don't sell more of what they're doing. They're the only ones selling it. And it's hard to be the only one selling something at a million levels. So in movements you find ambassadors even the most powerful human embodiment in the world, Jesus needed disciples, people and listen, Jesus didn't need one. He needed 12. 12. And you think you can do it by yourself? He was Jesus. But how many entrepreneurs, you do too much of it by yourself. That's where you're limiting the breakthrough. You need a crew, you need ambassadors. You need people who got your back, who they're selling for you when you're not selling. That's your best customers. That's, that's your certified customers. That's whatever it is in your industry. But realize millions. The book's a ride along or a spark point. The bigger movement is what's important. Do you know Martin Luther King wrote six books, good ones. But people still think the civil rights movement, he was focused on the bigger message of the movement. And this is what we want to tap into. Tap into it. Almost no one in this room could name one or two of his books. But you all know what he was trying to head up. So always think in movements for that level of sales. Is that helpful? That's so helpful. Okay. Give a round applause. We appreciate you being here.
