Weekly Fire: Transitions
22 Feb 2019 · 79 min
Brendon TEST Burchard and his wife Denise discuss high performance, letting go of past trauma, and relationships in a live session from Puerto Rico. They cover mentoring, human behavior, and what it takes to move through major life transitions.
Foreign. This is Brendon Richard. Welcome to the Brendon show and get yourself ready for Weekly Fire. If you're new to the show, these Weekly Fire sessions are the audios from from my Instagram and Facebook Live sessions throughout the week. I know not everyone sees all of them, but I like to go live pretty consistently and talk about funny human behavior and all the goofy things we do as humans to mess up our lives or at least keep it interesting and what you can do about it to improve. I like to talk about what my wife Denise and I are doing or learning as we build our new brand together called HPX Life hp. HPX stands for the High Performance Experience, which I hope you're experiencing as you fill out your High Performance planner every single day. Hope you're using that. That's why you'll often hear us reference these shows as hpx. And you know, boy, are we learning a lot about high performance as Denise and I are trying to be our best every day. For you guys, it's not always easy and you'll hear us sharing a lot about our journey along the way. We also do some Q and A or address the hecklers and the haters. It's super fun and obvious. These are the audios. So if you ever want to catch all the fun, make sure you're following me on Instagram, Rendon Burchard, or on Facebook enonburshardfan. That's where I go live or Denise and I go live. Now, the best of these Weekly Fire episodes are clearly when Denise has joined me on my live broadcast. As you know, she's like the smart one, you know, the thoughtful one, the person who makes me goofy and makes me want to be a better man. She's the real deal. And, you know, she just inspires me so much. She's not in all these Weekly Fire sessions, but I know you'll enjoy it when she is. So again, we broadcast these live, so it's usually a visual medium. But I decided to share the audios with you because I just wanted you to hear us or hear me talk about what we're up to, what we're learning along the way in real time. So again, keep up with us on Instagram and Facebook, but without further rambling, here's your dose of Weekly Fire Internet. What's up, y'? All? Welcome to hpx. Hi, all. If you're just tuning in, this is hpx, the High Performance Experience. It's Brendan and Denise, and we're here today to talk about some funny human behavior. Give you some thoughts that hopefully can improve your life. Talk about the crazy things we're doing as we are striving to build a.
New brand and share it with you.
And share it with you guys. And as always, take some. Some questions or heckling. Maybe I shouldn't start that way, you know. Hey, this is a brand new spot. We are doing our fancy live cast from. Okay, Instagram. That's palm trees back there and the ocean. Hi, guys. Palm tree and ocean.
Can't leave.
Facebook out. Put you Facebook. That's Facebook. Okay, now you guys can see paused. Oh, my God.
There we go.
Due to bad connection. That's probably because we were throwing it around here. Anyway, that's the new. That's what we're trying to do here is trying to figure out how to do Internet almost near the beach. Sorry if it didn't work out so good. We're super pumped today. Actually, we just got done working out. I haven't gotten to work out on the island in almost a couple weeks. I was in Miami.
Yes.
And we just got back and today we had a call with some folks and we're having this amazing discussion that will kick off our funny human behavior. Oh, my gosh, it keeps pausing. Which one is this? Instagram?
Yeah.
Sorry, guys, if it keeps pausing on you. We don't have the greatest Internet up here, I think, but. So what's the funny human behavior for the day?
Well, we were talking about. Somebody was talking to us about lowering themselves to match other people around them. I think that just goes to. To the power of who you surround yourself with, but also what you do with that. And then while I was working out at the gym today, I was listening to the day two of the Wellness Masterclass.
We're on day eight, but my wife is on day two, just so you know. So if you're behind on the wellness Masterclass, so is she.
You can tag along with me. And you were talking about the superiority complex. So we were just chatting about, you know, how do you find the equilibrium between not lowering yourself and your standards and expecting more and not, you know, falling into that trap of kind of finding like a superiority. Superiority complex.
Yeah, it's hard.
So I was like, how do you. How do you. How do you equip both of those together?
Well, here's the thing. Let's start with funny human behavior. Out of that, the funny human behavior is how easy it is for you to downgrade your intensity, your passion, your hard work, to apologize for other people's performance. How easy it Is that, you know what? If you're a rock star, you're a high performer, you're working super hard. It's easy when other people are like, yeah, but you're so good. And you're like, oh, well, yeah, but, you know, I'm not always good. And you make apology or make excuses or you speak ill of yourself. And that's what happens. A lot of people. It's like you're downgrading your intensity and your excellence to make apologies for either yourself or for other people. And that's the number one issue is, like, don't lower yourself just because you're around lower performers in yourself. Because it's easy. Because we all want to belong. We all want to fit in. And what you always see is there's some people who are so extraordinary, but they lower themselves because they feel like, oh, well, if I'm amazing right now, then the person over here, the person over there, they're going to feel inadequate. No, you know what? You're going to set a standard. I would rather them feel inadequate than you fake it. For you to lower yourself and to live a life beneath who you are just to make other people feel comfortable. Screw that. That is not what it's about. But the funny human behavior, how easy it is to do that. Like, it's like if you're getting around a group of people and you're a really good person, you know, and all of a sudden everyone else is, like, ripping on somebody, making some fun of somebody, cussing, swearing, being down. How easy it is to join that group because, oh, well, I'll fit in. Even though that's below your standards.
Yeah. Or you can set an example for yourself and not participate in it and just take the higher road. And, you know, one of the other things we were talking about was.
I totally threw her off because you can't see. I'm going like this. You can't see it. I totally threw her off because down below the video, I'm like, speak louder. I can't even hear you down there.
And it's probably an iguana.
We actually don't even know. It's probably an iguana. There's a lot of iguanas in Puerto Rico, if you did not know, y'. All. But I threw her off because down below, you can't see. I'm like, speak louder because I don't know if it's for them, but the waves. Listen, listen. That's. Can they see this? That's the ocean. So I'm motioning Her to be louder because she's competing with. She is quieter.
I'm a quieter person.
She is. And I'm trying to get her to learn to, like, use her full volume, like she did when she was teaching exercise class. Because when she was teaching exercise class, she was like, let's go, ladies. And then we get on Instagram, she's.
Like, I saw somebody on Instagram over there comment about quiet confidence. And I'm actually a huge believer in quiet confidence.
Yes.
You know, but one of the other things, so I do remember it now.
Was Shannon says they can hear you fine on Facebook.
There you go.
Yes.
Maybe it's all in your head.
Can you all. And look, even on Instagram, they can say, can you guys hear the waves? Say yes or no if you hear the waves.
All good?
Yeah, they can. Okay, good. We're like, can you hear? Because for us, it's, like, so loud. And me, I have. I don't have the greatest hearing because I'm on stage for four days, eight times a year with music going. So sometimes she has to say things to me two or three times before I can hear anything. Were you having a point?
I was.
Tell us about your point.
Can I get to that?
Yes.
Okay, so as you're speaking, I'm also thinking, you know, between the idea of, like, not lowering yourself, but then not having a superiority, a complex. One of the things I love is that we rise by lifting others. So if we can help others see the potential within themselves and hold that to a higher standard for themselves. I always say, well, when I owned my exercise studios, I always said, believe in somebody until they have no reason not to believe in themselves. They just cannot make it a reason to not believe in themselves. And so maybe that's where you find that equilibrium.
Yeah, I think it's important. But just remember, you can't lift the world if you keep lowering yourself to fit in with most people. And it's the hardest thing to tell an achiever because achievers often rise to high achievement because they're givers and they're passionate about other people. They want to help other people. They want to be of service to other people. And often, sometimes they're even people pleasers because they want to find the needs and the problems and the challenge other people have and then serve them with good solutions. So we have this desire to give, give, give. But listen, you need to be an example of excellence in the people's lives around you and not apologize ever for that and not lower yourself. This is the big thing for you in 2019. Everybody, everybody, I'm telling you what. And Denise and I are always talking about this probably this year as we're building out new teams and we're building new brands and we're doing all the crazy things you guys have been following along with. She's probably never heard me, like, cuss or be more upset because, like, we're driving so hard and working so hard. And sometimes other people around us, they're not as detail driven. They're not as like, focus on the priorities. They make a mistake that costs a lot of money or is just something they should have missed. And it's so easy to get mad. And I'm warning you, don't get mad, because what's getting mad is the ego. Instead, ask how. Instead of getting mad, ask how can I mentor? Right? One thing is, go ahead.
It's like a puzzle. Like, everyone is so different. And I think you can go into any situation planning as much as you can possibly plan. And planning is fantastic. And planning is kind of planning for all the things that you can control. But when you're working with people and you're mentoring people or you're coaching people or you're guiding or teaching people, everything is going to be different. So you kind of plan for whatever you can control for and whatever you can adjust, but you have to be able to kind of adjust on the fly. And I love. One of the things I loved about mentoring and training new teachers was that everyone was so different and had a different style. And so I'd have to kind of figure out, like, what's this person's motivator? How do they work? Are they analytical or are they, you know, do they go by gut feel or do they. And just trying to figure out what worked for them to kind of pull out the results that I was looking for, that potential that I saw in them because by the time they got there, I had. I had a lot of weeding out before anyone ever got through to that point. So by that point, it was like you were in, I believe in you. I'm going to believe in you so much until you believe in yourself. And I'm going to figure out how to make that come out of you, even if you don't know it's there. Like, I see something in you, and you wouldn't be here if you didn't have an inkling that you had it too. So I think of it as a puzzle. So if you guys like challenges and puzzles, you can think of it that way. I was like, how do I make this work?
Yeah. I think it's really important that you have that mindset. What's up? Hey, Marty, how are you? I think it's really important for you to recognize people's potential, mentor them, train them, set the standard of, like, excellence. Set the goals, set the rhythm, and then say to them, okay, the how, that's really your style. The how, that's your personality. Like, the how can be achieved in a million different ways. But this is the bar, and you meet the bar, right? It doesn't have to be your way, but hitting the goal, doing it with the level of excellence that you want. All of that. Listen, if they're not doing that, then guess what? That's where you introduce this thing called one strike, two strike, three strikes and you are out. Yes, mentor, yes, train. But at the end of the day, it's not superiority complex to recognize as a high performer that most people around you, by definition, are not high performers. Most people. If you're a high performer, most people around you, by definition, are average performers. Right? Most people would equal the average. And it sounds so flippant. It sounds so egotistical. Sounds like, oh, my gosh, how can you say that, Brendan? But that's just the truth of this thing called math. Okay? The average is going to be that middle of that bell curve. That average is going to be that median point. The average. It's just the reality. Most people around you won't strive and have that hunger and work as hard as you probably will, especially if you're in this HBX community. You guys are true servant leaders, but part of being a servant leader is recognizing both the people who have the hunger and the drive and supporting them. But also, being a real servant leader is also helping usher people out if they're not in the right place. If they're not. If they're not giving and they're not serving. No one wants to fail. Don't keep putting person into a spot where they're going to fail over and over and over and over again. Say, you know what? This is not working for you, so let's place you somewhere else, or let's get you out of here and put you in a better place. I know that's really hard. That sounds really not supportive. I'm going to try this with. Yeah, what's up with our Facebook friends over here today? Here, let's try this.
We can switch spots for you guys.
There you go. We took Brennan out, but there's a palm tree that looks really great.
That's kind of like your hair.
What happened with this thing?
I don't know what's happening.
Okay, you talk to him. I'm going to figure this thing out.
Okay, somebody over on Instagram now, I think we've moved the phones around, was saying, well, what if it doesn't work? Ego aside. What if it's not working out? Ego aside. Then at that point, you deal with the situation as best you can in the moment. But then take what you have learned. Like, there were definitely times where I was like, how do I never have that happen again? What do I need to do to change either my practices or my viewpoint or my training or my mentoring or how I approach something?
There's gonna be people who don't think I'm listening. I swear to God.
I'm not making eye contact with anyone.
I am not making eye contact with my wife, but I am listening as I am trying to figure out Facebook's terrible lighting. Hey, Instagram, great job on lighting. Facebook, you're terrible at lighting. Hi, guys. Okay, keep going. Did I interrupt? That's my job. Okay.
Yeah, just figure out what, What. Could you get yourself in a better place or to avoid that situation altogether now? We're, like, tipsy over here, but it's all good.
Sorry for the technical difference difficulties on our friends. We are totally not distracting right now. Wow, that just hurt. There we go. So what's happening? Where are we in the world? What's going on with us today? We are trying this new spot out today, so forgive us as we're trying to figure out the lighting here. It's super hard to shoot against ocean. That's pretty much all I have to say about that. But I also have to announce some cool things. Today is day eight of the Wellness Masterclass. So if you're not listening, it is Ace. My lucky number. And if you're not, listen, it's my. Actually, it's my lie number.
It is. So whenever he's like, there were eight of them, I'm like, nope.
Yeah. If you ever hear me talking about, like, okay. When I grew up, I mean, I was walking down the street and I got beat up. Like, eight guys. It means there was, like, one guy there who might have been five foot eight. You know what I mean? It's like eight if I'm telling a fib story. I caught eight fish today. That's when I'm usually lying. Eight is my lying number, but everybody knows that about me, so it's kind of funny. I have a shirt that just says 8 on it for no other reason than it's funny that everyone knows that's my kind of, like, not true number. So today's wellness masterclass number eight. And if you haven't listened to it, link in my bio in Instagram, you can go listen to the wellness masterclass on my podcast. It's only up for another 72 hours, so you need to go listen to to it. Today's episode is huge. It's on the power of letting go, which is a big part, like a big thing for us. We've had to let go of previous relationships in our lives. We've all had to let go of trauma. We've all let go of difficulties, bad days, stress, changing from one career to another. That's a big let go for a lot of people. And so that's what we thought we would talk about a little bit today. And I don't understand, understand why when I press this little thing, you know, Facebook's bigger than Instagram in terms of.
Like, I think you did this. It was like an angle that you.
Oh, wow.
You just have to use your arm over there and we'll look at you over here.
That is just really sad.
There we go.
Look at that.
I think it was better that way.
Why don't you come over this way?
Because there's like arms of chairs and I can't go through this.
Okay, well, we're learning. How about that?
We ran out of table, otherwise we moved.
Okay. Yeah, seriously, guys, we are like, I am in such a contorted position right now to be able to do our Facebook. Okay, so letting go. Here's the simple thing. The truth is, if you don't learn how to let go, then and not only will you be somebody who is sort of dragging along negative energy in your life, but I will share. You already know that. So that's common sense. The lack of common practice for people is they don't learn to let go daily. They're like, oh, it's the end of 2018. I'll let go of all that. And they, oh, I'll let go after my 10th high school reunion. Or they go to their 20th high school reunion. They're like, maybe I shouldn't be mad about those people in high school anymore. And I'm like, dude, if you are still upset about something that happened 10 years ago, if you're still upset, it's still altering your ideas of yourself. It's still altering your daily emotional, like, range. It's still stealing from your joy. And it happened a year ago, five years ago, ten years ago, I have two simple rules for you. Number one, learn to let go. And number two, get a therapist. And I'm not saying that facetiously. It's like a lot of people don't get therapy. And it's like if you're dealing with something that you're really struggling with and you struggle with it for years, let's all get over the stigma of therapy. Because the truth is a lot of people need help with this stuff. If they could figure it out on their own, they would have figured out on their own, but they haven't, so it's okay. And I think it's really important. If you want some tactics for how to listen or how to let go, go to the podcast, the Brendon show, link in my bio on Instagram and listen to that episode. It's so huge. But it's incredibly sad how many people are underperforming because they're dragging along so much weight. What's the biggest thing you've learned to let go in the last couple years? Outside of anger for me, once in a while. Oh, hey, look, Instagram, meet Facebook. I think that have to happen every day. We just introduce these people.
I feel like I'm gonna have to do what I have to do with like the remotes where I just take it away from you so you stop touching it.
What are you talking about? Last night you couldn't even figure out the remotes. Here you're like, see, she makes the joke, but then I'm the one running the remotes. Okay.
One of the biggest things. Well, I was going to kind of segue into.
That's a cool shot.
You're interrupting.
Usually that's my hair. Oh, good. I'm listening.
We're talking about going back to yesterday. If you joined us yesterday, we talked a lot about anticipation. And what your expectations are of a situation can really determine how you perceive the outcome. And I think one of the things that I think that also pertains to transitions, like if you're going through through a big transition, to know that it's going to be hard and that there are going to be that you're going to have to let go of some things. So, like, when I sold my exercise studios, I knew things were going to be challenging to let go of. So, like, for a year prior to me actually transitioning out of being the owner, I just started prepping myself because it was such a big part of my identity. And I know a lot of you, you are here or. And People who follow Brendan are going through big transitions, going through starting businesses, going through changing businesses and leaving jobs and starting their own. And if you can set that. That idea of letting go, because when you do something for so long, it does become part of who you are, and you kind of get lost. And I. I knew that was coming. So just to kind of prep yourself, you can, you know, like, this is a big part of me. I know it's coming. And it helps kind of harness and embrace and just be able to let it go with a little bit, hopefully a little bit more grace.
I love that. You know, when someone says, let it go, it can sound so flippant, like, you know, oh, really? Brennan, let go. The challenge of the trauma I had when I was a high schooler or when this bad thing happened to me when I was a small kid, or this thing that happened in college or this violent act, like, it sounds very flippant to say, learn to let it go. But letting go doesn't have to mean, like, this instantaneous thing. For some people, it can really happen. It can be an instantaneous, like, almost spiritual awakening of letting go of something other people. It's a process, you know, it's learning to hear slower, you know, it is. It's the process. It is. It's like learning to let go. Yeah, it's a thoughtful process. It's like, hey, it's learning to identify that negative thought or that negative feeling or that negative association that comes up when you're doing this specific activity that's being triggered by this old thing. It's just learning to be aware of that negativity that enters your life because of the past stuff. And seriously, just learning to be aware of it and learning to listen for it or hear it or sense it or feel it. Just having that mindfulness every day to it over a period of time. That awareness is the process of letting go. And that's a really powerful thing to understand. Letting go is not all of a sudden, just one day, you chop off the chains and it's all gone. Some days, letting go is really just becoming more aware. And then you start to see it, and then you see it more often. It becomes more familiar as it becomes more familiar. You can even almost make it more distant by, like, rising above it or learning to observe it. To like. Like, oh, I sense this. I feel this coming up, what's going on? And as you learn to observe it more, become more aware of it, it becomes a little bit more detached in its feeling and its hold of you and as you become more aware and it's not holding you anymore, you can observe it, you can push it away, you can deal with it. You can see it in a way that it does not take over your life. So please understand that real intelligence and real wisdom. Wisdom. When we talk about letting go, it's not always an instantaneous activity. It's a process. So also, don't get down on yourself if you have been harboring resentment for a year or two or three. Don't get down on yourself if something hurts you when you were a teenager and it still has a hold of you. But get help and generate awareness. It's so incredibly important. It is a big stigma out there. And it's one of my dreams, is to tell people that therapy is okay. You're totally laughing at me. Why?
I'm not laughing at you.
Yeah, you're so laughing at me.
I'm not.
Okay.
I'm admiring you.
How many people think, she was laughing at me just a minute ago. Just go ahead and say I'm bringing the joy. She is. I think it's so important that we recognize that and we give a shout out to those people who are really struggling with traumas and difficulties of their lives. Because so many people will be flippant and tell you, hurry up. Figure it out. Let it go. And you might honestly need some professional help with that. Or you might need some time, or you might see that she was. She is. See, here's what I love about my wife. She cannot hide what's happening on her face.
This is true. I have been used as a human lie detector in past jobs.
Yes, she's a human lie detector. I'll introduce her to someone, and afterwards I'll say, what do you think? And as she's forming her thoughts, I already know exactly what her decision was, which is a beautiful thing. Like, she'd be terrible. You would suck at poker. I bet you don't even know how to play poker. Nope, she didn't know how to play poker. You know why? Instant loss face.
She's not like gambling.
She's not a gambler. And her face just would not allow her to ever lie. Rosemary says she's just loving on you and not laughing at you. That's really nice. I agree.
Thanks, Rosemary.
Yes, it's very. That was called a pause. As a husband, you just learn to pause and just hold it. Don't. Don't say it. Just get it. Men, if you're in the middle of a sentence and you recognize about to become a train Wreck. Just shut your mouth. Don't even try to back out of it. Just stop. Gentlemen. Just stop. Good lesson learned. Good marriage advice today, huh?
Yeah. Jen City just said she just discovered us. Thanks for joining.
Awesome. Hey, what's up Gen City? Appreciate you guys. Sherlooen says that she's loving the book. Oh yeah. Hey, let us know what questions you guys have for us and what topics you'd love us to cover in these HPX sessions because we're trying to do that for you as well. Other thing going on today, helicopters in Puerto Rico, other things going on that we're super pumped about. As you guys have heard, we have been working on the supplements. We are not starting a lot of like myth and rumors starting because our brand is so large at these points people are like hey, you're starting MLM or direct marketing. We are not many of those we support, we cheer on, we like that's our community. We totally vibe with that. That is not what we are doing. We're starting a really high end luxury type of supplement that we've just always wanted to take and that was inspired by my brain injury. It's not for everybody. We'll talk about it later on. But honestly, honestly we're doing it for ourselves because we really wanted to have higher end stuff. Let's see, she wants us to cover relationships. What's your best relationship advice of all time? Actually think about what's your best thing you've learned. Learned about being in relationship with me and I'll think about. Best thing I've learned in relationship working with you. My best thing in working with a relationship with her is to give her time to think, which I just demonstrated. That's it. Give my wife time to think. Because I'm a very impatient. I'm like hey, what's up? And it's more like. And she's way more thoughtful and intelligent than I am.
I'm a percolator is what I say.
She's a percolator.
I like to like let things meander. Not meander but just like sift through and then I will come up with something a lot more thoughtful.
Yes.
Than being pushed in the moment. She loves just my style.
That's her style.
Sometimes it's really frustrating to me and me if anyone else is out there.
But I have learned that's an introvert thing.
Yeah, I think it is too. Yeah.
And so, so I have learned the best thing I've learned in our marriage is first to be present with her, to be patient and thoughtful because she's such a patient and thoughtful person, and to learn from that and to hopefully give that back more, that's the skill I'm always trying to learn. Some of you guys know, for 22 years, I've set a monthly challenge to work on myself with a new topic each month. And so many of those months have been patience. So many of the months have been presence, and most of those inspired by the times that I screwed up in our relationship. Okay, what'd you like?
I was gonna say that I think the biggest thing is to put the relationship first. Like, it's not one person or the other or. But just always putting the relationship first and having patients like, that comes before me. That comes before you. That. It's always like, okay, what's good for us?
Yeah. She says we. All the time. All the time. Like, do we need a nap?
I don't. I don't like naps.
No, you're saying it to me. Yes. Do we need a meal? Sue's asking what helps you to be motivated to maintain dietary changes and exercise program when you're just starting? I love that. I have an idea. Don't worry about motivation. Just show up every day. Don't worry about, how do I feel? Am I motivated? Do I have energy? Just literally get the shoes on, get in the gym or hit the road or hit the pool or do whatever you do. Stop worrying about the motivation, because motivation comes with momentum.
Yeah, I was just gonna say celebrate your wins. Like, every time you do something that is in alignment with your goal, just give yourself a pat on the back or something that acknowledges that you are making progress and that feels good.
Yeah, that's it. Just progress of showing up every day. That's where momentum comes from. Because a lot of that motivation is going to come from that sense of, like, you know what? I'm doing it. I'm making it happen. I'm showing up even when I don't want to. To. Right. Go look on Instagram at any influencer when they post health things, they're usually saying, I showed up today. I did the work today. Didn't feel like it, but I did it anyway. That's where a lot of the magic comes from. Just getting at it, going for it.
And sometimes, like, I think sometimes, when. Especially when it comes to exercise. Like, if once you get there and you start moving, you feel good, sometimes it's just. I always said, like, the hardest part is actually just showing up. So just get there. Get to wherever you exercise or if it's home and you do something. Just start and usually you'll that it'll take it from there.
Yeah. Hope you enjoyed this session of hpx. Make sure you listen to the podcast the Brandon show. We are launching HPX, by the way, officially on February 14th. It's Valentine's Day. Are we gonna go live?
I don't know.
See, don't ask your wife sudden questions about Valentine's Day while you're live. Just a bad, you know, bad brain. We love you guys. We'll see you tomorrow, party people. Hi, y'. All. Happy? What day is it?
It's Wednesday.
It's Wednesday. We hope you're having an awesome Wednesday wherever you're at. We are here in Puerto Rico, so welcome to HPX Live. Today we'd like to talk about some observations about life, share a little bit of our crazy day and our crazy life as we're building this new brand hpx and take your questions towards the end so we can do any coaching or conversation that you would love us to have. That's why we're here. We're super stoked to see you. I'm Brendan.
I'm Denise.
And if you didn't know, HPX stands for the High Performance Experience. It's our goal, our life, our mission, our purpose to help you live more of that high performance experience. Experience where you feel vibrant, you feel alive, you feel connected, you feel like you're striving towards excellence in every area of your life. I want you to be an excellent mom. I want you to be an excellent contributor. I want you an excellent servant leader. I want you to be an excellent spouse.
Your best self.
Your best self every single day.
Whoever that is for you.
Yeah. So this morning I was making my own breakfast, which is a rare thing. I usually don't do like a hot breakfast kind of thing, but today I did. Is this Facebook again? You just are gonna.
I think it's better than you think it is. Okay, so we should just not touch.
I'm just not gonna touch you. I'm not touching you, Facebook.
I'm gonna take it away.
So this morning I'm making an egg, right? And so I had a bowl and I go to crack the egg on the bowl and I find myself like, kind of like being delicate with it, like cracking it all around the egg. I mean, I don't know if any of you guys suck at like cracking eggs, but I, I tend to suck at it. So I'm kind of delicately like cracking it all around and then I pull it apart and of course it goes into the bowl and a bunch of the eggshell goes in there with it. I'm like, ah. So then I grab the spoon and I'm pulling out the eggshells. And as I'm doing this, I'm having a flashback where Denise and I were in. In France. And do you remember when we had that like, Private Chef tour?
We. Yeah, Paris.
Yeah, we were in Paris and we had like this private Michelin star chef tour.
That was so cool.
Beyond amazing. It was like a dream, dream trip. I mean, we were like, we took a helicopter ride all around Paris. Cuz as you guys have seen from my Instagram, helicopters, like my obsessed with. I'm obsessed with taking a helicopter tour everywhere we go.
I think yesterday you plan that helicopter to come behind us.
Well, we're going to be taking that helicopter pretty soon to go tour Puerto Rico. I'm crazy about it. So we. We're touring Paris in a helicopter. We go to these fancy. What's happening? Oh, I'm sorry. Facebook or can't see you. I should say can't see me.
I saw half your face. That's not good enough. I see all your face.
What did I do? Okay, so I. Sorry that just. Here it looks so good a minute ago. So we're just like back to Paris. Back to Paris. And we end up getting this like this real private dining experience with this Michelin star chef. And I remember he was like making a base for like a mushroom thing. And I remember, okay, and it was.
Like in this wine shop we had kind of toured around and here we are, and he's like this hot plate in this wine shop and he's making this amazing mushroom chicken thing. And.
Michelin star chef, Paris wine shop. You need to know nothing more about this story. Okay, so the story started. For those just joining us, the story started this morning. I got my bowl, I got my egg. I'm delicately like popping it around. I open it, all the eggshells fall in there. So why am I talking about the Paris story? Because I remember it. Just flashback. I'm literally digging out the eggshell of the bowl. And I remembered this moment where I saw and I admire. I saw the chef again. Michelin star step. He grabbed this egg and he went like, he just grabbed it and goes wha. Bam. On the thing with one hand and opened it up into the bowl. And here I am years later pulling the stupid eggshell. And it reminded me. And the funny human observation to me was, isn't it funny how so often we're delicate with things that don't need to be delicate. Right. It's like we tell ourselves a story. Well, this is. Is safer, or this is a better way, or this is more judicious. But sometimes you're being too delicate with yourself. Sometimes you're being too delicate with other people. Sometimes you're being too delicate with the friggin eggs at breakfast, which is my story. But that's what got me thinking. I'm like, why am I being delicate with this stupid egg? I mean, that chef went, bam, pop. I don't. And y' all any chefs out there? If you love to cook, make sure you give us a shout out. I would love to know that you're getting.
You're getting tips on how to pull the shells out.
Yes. That's very good.
I like that.
Yeah. Make sure you please, if you're a chef, please post that. Because we're trying to actually figure out how much of our audience. Are you guys foodies? If you're a foodie, just tell us. I'm a foodie. I'm really interested to see if we have any foodies on here, because we don't really talk about that part of our life. But we love going out to dinner. We love to enjoy it. Denise made this crazy fish with cauliflower rice, a salsa thing. And what else did we have last night?
Broccoli.
Broccoli. But it was good broccoli sounds. So it really sounded like. That sounded like anti.
Climactic.
No. Climactic. Yeah.
So it's green. Greens are good.
Okay, so we got some foodies here. This is good to hear. I see you on Facebook. What's up, guys? Okay, we got a lot of foodies on Facebook and we're starting. Instagram is starting to line up with some foodies. Okay, that's really good to know. So anyway, lesson learned. I think people are too delicate with themselves.
Yeah. Or I mean, you don't crack eggs every day. And this chef just. I'm sure he's cracked, you know, his 10,000 eggs. Yeah, for sure. So maybe it's about. If you approach something in life delicately that you're not sure about, sometimes it's better to just go all in and go for it. Show up.
That's it. Yeah. I think it's about. I think what brought to my mind in terms of, like, a life lesson outside of being just about a stupid egg, was about how often we really fail in life because we are too delicate. And what I mean by that is I'd love for you to think about your life Are you being too delicate with your spouse? Are you being too delicate with the team? Are you being too delicate with others? Because some of you are people pleasers and as a people pleaser, you're delicate with other people. So you're not saying your truth. You're not showing up for yourself and saying, honey, I feel this, I think this, I dream of this, I want this. Or you got somebody at work who sucks and they're underperforming and you're just trying to be a people pleaser or trying to be too nice. And by being too nice, what you will call delicate because you're a good person. He's like, I'm being sensitive, Brendon. No, you're being a wuss. Be honest. Right? Isn't it true? Like I was being too delicate with the egg. It's like, bam, let's get at this thing. And I think too many of you are often being what you are saying. I'm being sensitive or delicate. What you are doing is you are lying. You are withholding truth. You are not saying what needs to be said to somebody else to help them achieve high performance. Because this is about high performance hpx, the high performance experience. Part of the high performance experience is communicating with strength and courage again. And you deserve to do that. Don't be so delicate. That's the lesson today.
From an egg.
From an egg. Hey, I didn't get any on the counter. Dude.
This was good.
It was good.
This was good.
It was good.
You did throw the shell in the recycling.
What else did we observe today? What else did we observe today?
Well, speaking of showing up. So I walked into the, the bedroom today and Sasha, our cat, Sasha the cat.
Hashtag Sasha the cat.
I was like, I had this moment. I was like life lessons from a cat. I walk into the room now, this is. This is not her. She's new. This whole transition happened and she's.
We're in our brand new place in Puerto Rico. That's if you see, that's. I'll give them a tour. For those who aren't here yesterday, that's the ocean. I know. Well, you pause too much. Look at this. So that's where we're at right now, which we love. And we have made a big decision to come down here to start HPX and do all these other things we've been telling you about. So we're in a new place. You walk into a room. This is not the cat's normal room. His new room. Go ahead.
And there's a headboard. And she's, like, draped. I walk in, and she's, like, sitting like Queen Sheba on the top of the headboard, draped out. She just looks at me, and I'm like, you know, if we could only show up with confidence like that, and new situations where we're like, I'm just gonna own this. This is my domain. That was my, like, little life lesson from the cat.
I love that. I love that. I was actually just talking with a speaker friend and was like, brendan, how do you do what you do on stage? Because I had a friend who was gonna go speak to about 10,000 people, had never spoken to that many people before, and it was like, how do I do a good job? I'm not sure, like, what to do or what to say. And I said, well, one of the things you have to do is when you're backstage, you have to have the mindset that you're going to go out on stage and you're going to kill it. Like, you have to say, it's not like, oh, I'm scared. There's people out there. It's like, no, no, no. They have given you this stage. They chose you for this stage. For whatever reason, you have the blessing of stepping on the stage. Own it. Own the experience. Go out like Queen Sheba laying out on this new thing. It's like, this is your room. This is your place. This is your space. This is your stage. Show up in full and own it. Don't apologize for yourself. Don't, like, hold back. Like, own it. For some of you, networking is critical to building your business and your life. But every time you walk in a networking opportunity, you're like. It's like, no, no. Go own it. Be like, this is my room. That's what I do. When I walk into a room, I say, I'm entering this room as a happy man ready to serve. And there's no sense that I don't own that experience. I don't own that room. I don't own those relationships. Because ownership is key to your personal development. Ownership is key to your personal development. You need to own the room, the space, the relationship, the results you're getting in your life. Otherwise, good luck. So inspired. Burchard's inspired this morning by an egg and a cat. This is how simple of human beings we are people. What else have you got for him today? What else is happening?
What else is happening? Today is day nine of your wellness masterclass.
Day nine. Oh.
And it's about purpose.
It's about purpose. This is a Big one, y'. All. Day number nine of the Wellness Masterclass is today. That means Tomorrow is day 10 and it's done. So if you have not caught up, this is your last chance. If you haven't been with us, hpx, we teamed up with our friends at Commune. We launched the Wellness Masterclass. And because you guys are in our tribe, we decided to air the course for you free over these last 10 days. Now we're in the last two days, so if you missed day one through eight, sorry, guys, you missed it. Pay attention to our lives, our Instagram, our stories, open my emails because we've been talking about it like crazy. But the Wellness Masterclass Day 9 is officially up on the Brendon Show. It's my podcast. Click the link in my bio on Instagram. The Wellness Masterclass today is about purpose. How do you know when you're living your purpose?
Siri's got purpose.
Did you see what just happened? So we have this iPad down below right here. And I said, so I asked Denise, how do you know when you're living your life's purpose? And Siri, Siri answered, she goes, sorry, I'm having trouble with the connection. Please try again in the moment. Siri, be purposeful. That was funny.
How do you know you're living part? Well, I think when you know that you're part of something bigger is one thing. And also when you kind of find that flow where everything is aligning with what you believe in. I don't know. I think you can have more than one life's purpose too.
I agree. I don't think I teach a all the time. Everyone says, what's my purpose? What's my purpose? I'm going, I think your purpose changes. Your purpose changes when you first have a child. Your purpose changes when you get that new job. Your, your purpose changes as you mature. What you was important to you in your 20s is not the same as what's important to you in your 50s, but your sense of connection each day with purpose. Like, I'm living today purposefully. You know, I'm. I'm going to do this. I'm going to enter this meeting intentionally with the purpose of achieving the this or giving this or experiencing this. I'm gonna have be purposeful with my lady today so she feels my intention and my love. That. That is different than just going through the motions. I think the opposite of living purposefully is going through the motions and so finding that flow, what you said, I think flow happens when we know we are part of something. Bigger that we're being carried along as much as we are forced, forcing life. I think that's really, really key. Yeah. So for other perspectives on purpose, make sure you listen to episode the Wellness episode number nine on the Brendon show podcast. Also, if you're an email subscriber of mine, make sure you click the link. We're sending it out today to episode number nine so you can watch on video as well. Mike Anderson over on Facebook says my purpose today is very difficult. Difficult after doctors not giving me a chance. Sorry to hear that, Mike. We are cheering you on and if that is true, then recognize the time that you do have, man. Obviously each of us watching can learn and be inspired by you because life is short. And so with each moment we get each sense, you know, each gift of the day. We've got to live purposefully because at the end of our lives we often ask whether we did that or not. I've been with a lot of people, including my father at the end of their lives and it's a difficult truth that we'll ask whether or not we lived and we loved and we mattered. Niza, what up from Cancun. We see you over on Facebook. Nice having you here. Let's see. Ms. Kim Beers just finished day 10 of the Wellness masterclass. She's a day ahead on video. Congratulations. I hope you enjoyed it. We got Abuda from Dubai. That's awesome. I've not been to Dubai yet, but we've been offered probably 10 or 12 times to fly out and speak to Dubai. We just haven't had the time to do it. Someday, someday we'll definitely check it out. I think it'd be really fun. Tammy says praying for you. Mike. Mike, you're on Facebook. Tammy's on Instagram and she and she's praying for you over there. So don't forget that this community in hpx, we are always cheering each other on. We're always telling each other you're stronger than you think. The future holds good things for you, that we're all in this together, that achieving a high performing life is difficult and hard. But when you have somebody who inspires you and hopefully we can do that for you a little bit along the way, that that is strong too. Irene is giving shout out of prayers to Mike as well. You guys are so nice. Thank you for that.
Also I know think you know when you come talk about life's purpose and I think sometimes it's like, oh gosh, what's my life's purpose? And that it it in our minds, we're thinking, like, it has to be this very, like, big thing. And sometimes it is that, and other times it's just the way that you treat people on an everyday basis or conduct yourself in space. And whether you're checking out at the grocery store and you're really kind to the person or you help somebody out with something thing, I think there are. There's a lot of kindness that you can spread and that be part of your life's purpose too. Like, we all bump into each other. I mean, like, we all kind of bump into each other in lots of different ways throughout our days. And I know sometimes somebody will make my day by something that they do or say or. Or the contrary. Somebody will do something that I'm like, oh, that wasn't very nice. But at this, you know, at the same time, the purpose doesn't have to be this huge thing. I think it's an everyday practice. And small, little, small little ways are really important too.
I love that. I love that you know that when you're in bed at night and you're thinking of your day and somebody did something kind or nice for you, that they were on purpose that day and that maybe their interaction with you, that was meant to happen just that way, just that time, just that unique situation. I think that's a really. I think that's a big truth. I think it's a really big truth and that we need to be attentive to that.
Happy Sunday.
What's up, y'? All? Happy Sunday. It's Brendan and Denise, and welcome to hpx, the high performance experience. We're talking about what we're doing to live our best lives today, which is pretty easy because it's. It's a glorious day in Puerto Rico today, y'. All. Like, today is the days. You feel like this was really worth the move.
I know. And today I've been promised a little bit of cool time or outside sunshine. So I have been looking forward to that.
She came in the house about 20 minutes ago. She looked at me like this was her. She gave me a cold death stare of intention that said, we are going to the pool. It was like, no other option. If we do not go to the pool, I will be killed today.
Of intention. I was like, I'm going to the gym. I'm back from the gym. We're going to the farmers market, and I'm gonna go to the pool. Would you like to do it?
Yes. But there was an intensity and energy behind it that really frightened me. Frightened Me for my safety people. So I will make sure that we deliver on the pool time promise. The pool time promise that we made.
Good morning in Phoenix.
Good morning in Phoenix. Good morning in the United States. Good morning around the world. Let us know where you're at from. I don't know if you guys know. We actually go back and we look at both on Facebook and on Instagram, we scroll back and look at the comments and see where you all are from. Because we're learning so much about who tunes in, who's part of this HPX community, what you all want to learn. So please make sure you share that down below. I'm feeling it's gonna be hard for me to sit by the pool because I'm jacked up excited right now. And it's not from, like, caffeine or supplements or anything weird.
I did get him coffee this morning.
She did give me coffee this morning. It took me, like three hours to drink, though, so that's okay. But it's because I slept good last night. I think I slept really well last night because yesterday I had a crazy hard workout. And then last night we watched a show. We gotta tell you about the show, about the show.
We have really fallen in love with this show called this Is Us. And I know there's a huge number of fans out there, but we just watched another episode last night, and every. Every time we watch it, we're just like, going along and all of a sudden we're bawling and the music comes on. I mean, it's just. It's such a.
Have you all watched this Is Us? It's unbelievable. Like, I'm not a television watcher that much as, you know, like, I'll watch it, but I don't enjoy it. And Denise, she's got, like, a great lineup of shows she likes. And we go back to when we're eating or once in a while we'll watch some. Some shows, like, have a night of shows. But last night we turned on this Is Us, which is. I think. I think I'm the driver of that show more often, because that show is like my life. And like, that guy Jack, who's the character, is a lot like my dad, you know, Vietnam vet after Vietnam, and just stopped talking about it and, you know, raised us four kids. All of us kids are completely different. So when we watch the show. But the show, what they've mastered is the timing of the music with the emotional element. So last night's story there was the story of, like, how Jack with his Daughter had like, made her like a homemade stadium. And we were just.
We don't want. If you haven't seen it, I don't want to give it.
Oh, we don't want to give away.
Like today we were talking, we were like. And we both said, oh, my gosh.
Wendy made it to the stadium.
Just. Anyway, it's a great show.
It was this. There was a scene in there, like, the show's going along. You don't know it. And also the music intros. Someone does something really nice for somebody else and I burst into tears. I'm like crying, like. And it's like, wow.
Picking the cat up and wiping right down the blue.
It's why we love that show. So I don't know if you all watch this is Us, but. Oh, my God, that's such a good, emotional, beautiful story of that family. And in so many ways I relate with it for a million reasons, but it was really good. We also watched another. What amazing show.
We did the. Well, we did the girls night and I pulled up Rachel Hall. This is a made for more documentaries. Like, it's on Amazon. I've got it queued up. Let's go.
And she was serious about this. She made dinner, set up the dinner in near the TV and came in and everything was set. Bottle of wine. Did you find food?
Like, Yep. Ready to go?
Yeah. And I had sent. Rachel had sent me the preview link of the movie a long time ago when it was like, literally, she. It hadn't been distributed. I don't even remember if it was in theaters or it was just on. It was like on Dropbox or link she sent me. And I watched it. But it was one of those times when I watched it. I. It's very different when you have a movie night and you watch something on your laptop, your computer or your iPad. You're doing other things and. And so sitting there with the niece watching it, it's such an empowering movie for women especially. But if you haven't seen it, respect for Rachel. Mad respect for Rachel and Dave and the whole house company and so big shout out to you guys if you. You're watching and also make sure you watch it because now Made for More is on Amazon Prime. So if you have not seen it yet, we're big fans and friends of Rachel and Dave. Someday soon they'll be out on that beach with us and some pina coladas and so shout out. Just an unbelievable couple, unbelievable brand. And the movie is truly inspiring. They did an excellent job on the documentary and it's really the documentary feature of what happens at Rachel and Dave's Rise Conference. And it was really, really good. So I hope you guys will check it out.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Super excited for her next book, too.
Her next book is coming out.
The girls stop apologizing. I was like, need no more add to cart.
Yeah, you did. We're super pumped. Let's see what else. Oh, today, what's happening in our world today. I just sent an email, so if you're on my email list, you should be getting that throughout the day. It's going out to over a million people today on our email list and we're super pumped about it. It is for the Wellness Masterclass purchase link. And Denise came in. I'm working on the email this morning. And she goes. And I said, you know, I don't know, how do I convey to people why wellness is so important, but in a different way, like, why they need it? Because most people only think about wellness as sleep, nutrition, diet, exercise, you know, meditation, yoga. And I'm like, that's such a small part of the wellness game of what makes you healthy and vibrant and creative and contributing at your top levels. Especially, how do you reach high performance without energy? And do you remember what you said to me this morning?
Yeah, I said, you know, energy is a resource of yours. And I think especially because you do these events and I've taught extra exercise classes. And so you are exerting a lot of physical energy, but your energy towards your wellness, it's a choice to figure out how you want to use your energy. So you can either use it towards feeling overwhelmed, which also takes a lot of energy, or you can use it towards something for some forward momentum, some progress, and just decide to, like, I'm not going to spend my energy on overwhelm or the stewing around in these things that maybe bother me, or just move forward and kind of decide, like, I'm going to go towards a positive direction. And I have, let's say, I know you can generate more energy, but let's say you have a certain amount of energy harnessed at a certain time, how do you want to use it? And be intentional with how you use it. So to kind of stay calm and grounded and just kind of decide, like, if you imagine like a bunch of forks in the road, like, which fork do you. That looks really weird on Instagram with my hands. But which work do you want to take to use your energy to the best of your intentions and the best you that you can be that day?
I love it. I love. She also said in that, you know, that overwhelm is somewhat of a choice, you know, and we don't think of that way. But like, ultimately, if you're continually overwhelmed by the choices you've been making and the practices that you've developed in mind, body, spirit, emotional health, to be able to handle things and what I love to tell people, and I hope that you'll really resonate with this, is that wellness people kind of poo poo wellness a lot. And here's how you know if you are well. Can you stay present amid the chaos and the conflict? Can you be creative on a moment's notice when it's time to be creative? Can you lead and be positive even during the days where you don't feel like it or, or it's not a good day? Can you bounce back from bad emotional experiences? Can you be a person who is creative and contributing from a place of congruence for you versus just like responding, reacting, or conforming? Like, the way that you show up and how much you are getting done is a reflection of the level of mastery you have attained in your wellness. So if you need help in this area or you know somebody who does, take them to brendon.comwellness that's brendon.comwellness. it will redirect you to be able to actually purchase the Wellness Masterclass. Because some of you all know we've been previewing Wellness Masterclass on Instagram, on Facebook and on my podcast, but it's only been little excerpts, only little clips. If you want the entire course, it's now on for sale. It's only up for the next 72 hours. It's@Brendon.com wellness and here's why this is such a huge, huge, huge deal is because wellness is not just physical, it is emotional, it is mental. Here's the ultimate question I always tell people, are you a mental ninja? Do you have psychological ninja Y. Are you able to, you know, be resilient, be positive, be present, be joyful when it counts and on a consistent basis? If not, you need wellness training because wellness is more than just the physical stuff. So I don't know. I'm super passionate about it. And she came in today. I'm like, how do I explain this passion I have for people?
Yeah, I also think the course is something that you can go back to over and over again and get different things out of. You know, when you kind of like peel a layer of an onion off and then you accomplish some more things you're in a different place and then you can go and peel the next layer off and hear different things. I think it's one of those courses. Yeah, it's a good thing to have in your pocket to pull out whenever you need a little reboost or reset or just are looking for the next thing.
Yeah. It's also something you watch when you had a bad day. It's something that you watch or send to somebody who's really struggling. Here, I'll just put the link in there for you guys. It's Brendon.com wellness and I mean here's the way I think about this as well, is that the most important thing you can protect in your life are your values, your family, those close relationships that you have and ultimately your health. Because if you're sick, if you're tired, if you're frustrated, how is that showing up for other people? You know, I was telling like, here's maybe another way to think about it. The quality of your relationships is in direct proportion to the quality of your wellness. Because how you treat other people is a reflection of your wellness. It's how you feel at any given moment. Right. Well being. How are you being, Are you being well in the world? Are you treating other people well? And if you aren't, that's a reflection of your mental health. And so many people don't realize that their physical and emotional health is directly tied to their emotional well being. And so if you emotionally feel like you're taking teeter tottering all the time between stress, overwhelm, frustration, fear, anxiety, or you feel like mentally you're constantly fatigued and not creative enough, those are symptoms of your wellness. And I did an entire course on this and it's the best course in the world. And here's Let me it is for wellness. Because most wellness classes are literally sleep, eat, nutrition, exercise, drink water and do yoga. And that's not sufficient. We have to learn to master the mind, to be able to master the body, emotions and physical vitality. I got a little excited. I think I just spit on my wife. I think it just happened.
Watch out.
Here's my ultimate question for you. If Your highest self 10 years from now could come back and say, hey, you know what? That time you made that decision to master your health and wellness and that changed your future forever, do you think that was worth $99? I think your future self would. Yeah. Yeah. If your family and friends notice you being more healthy, vibrant and taking care of yourself, more calm, cool, peaceful, relaxed, joyous confident. Would that be worth 99 bucks? That's how much the wellness masterclass is. It's one time, 99 bucks. And now you have a wellness course that you can go to for the rest of your life and share with your family. And I think that's really important. So those who are struggling or have a family member who's struggling with their health and wellness, and you've been telling them forever, hey, be better, be better, be better. And you need some help with that, let me be the third party mouthpiece. I'll spit on them and let them know and let them know how important this is. So go to brandon.comwellness because it expires in what, 72 hours, y', all? Or I think maybe. I don't know if it expires. I think it doubles in price to be accurate. You'll see it on the page. I think I'm really excited about that. So I'm spending a lot of time on that today. What's next?
Well, I. I do want to give a shout out to somebody who I see on the chat roll, Sherry.
Oh, hi, Sherry.
She's the sweetest person. Hi, Sherry Planet. And I see a lot of. A lot of people know she Sherry and also know how amazing and thoughtful she is. This week I got a book from Sherry that was like the highlight of my week, I have to say. She put together so thoughtful. She put together all these quotes of things that different things that people had said about Transformation Week and just me joining in on all these live casts and stuff. And it was so thoughtful. I literally opened it and cried happy tears. And so, Sherry, thank you. And I know all of you guys who know Sheri know just what an incredible blessing she is to everyone around her. So, Sherry, thank you so, so, so much. I know you do this for a lot of people and we're just incredible amounts of gratitude. So I would challenge you guys also to do something this week for somebody that either needs a little support or you just want to say, like, hey, I see you. I appreciate you. Keep going. Anything that comes to mind, there's somebody out there who would probably appreciate it more than, you know.
Yeah, definitely. Definitely share that gratitude and appreciation with people. And I can tell you, Sherry, not only do I really appreciate that, I appreciated everybody watching. If you guys have been part of this journey with us, you know, Denise is really new to our community in so many ways in terms of being in front now because she's been supporting and cheering me on on the side. Like she's Been my like, you know, co pilot throughout my life in so many ways. But many times she isn't on my stage or she hasn't been on the podcast or she hasn't been doing this because she was running her own businesses, you know, that were frankly even bigger than mine and just doing a lot of incredible things. She had 30 employees. She was doing all this. But now, now that we've kind of made this big decision to start HPX together, which many of you experienced with us in Transformation Week, it's, you know, it's been a scary thing for her to start and jump in and imagine, you know, after me having all you guys and million millions of fans, her just jumping in going, okay, let's talk to them. She's been so brave. And what meant so much with what Sherry sent is she did screenshots of all the nice things you guys have been saying about Denise as you did it. Throughout Transformation Week, many of you guys have been DMing me or the chat rolls or here on the live. So many nice things about Denise. And I want you to know it's super appreciated as a husband who is now doing more directly with his wife in terms of his creative work and business. Your reception and love and cheering on of Denise has been incredible. And I want you to show she feels it genuinely and I feel it genuinely. So you guys are just friggin unbelievable. Thank you for being part of this HBX community because we've got huge things coming this week. Huge, y'. All. We will go live on Valentine Day. On Valentine's Day, we're going to talk about some of our relationship secret. Is it Valentine's Day? It is, yeah. We're going to talk about. Well, she's my only Valentine, so I guess so we're going live, we here on Valentine Day to talk to you about some of our best relationship secrets and where I suck at it. And mostly she's really great at it.
And then we will areas of improvement.
Also, you know, there's been a big, big, big announcements coming for a long time with hpx. We will announce it on Thursday and officially launch on Sunday. But those who will join us here on Instagram and Facebook on Thursday will get that link first so that you will know what the launch is coming on Sunday. It's super exciting. It's it. I can't tell you. We've been working so tirelessly about. I'm spending the rest of my Sunday after pool time. After pool time, he promised after pool.
Time, which we will go over what we're gonna do this week. We're gonna recap our week.
Yeah, Recap the week. What do we learn? What do we love? What's coming up this next week, we will multitask. I will eat something. Some kind of pool food that is completely not good. But I earned it. I worked out so hard yesterday. I still can't walk today. So I'm really excited about sharing that with you. That will be on Thursday, my friends. So make sure on Thursday you're checking your Instagram Facebook from us. And then the big announcement will come on Sunday. For everybody else, make sure you're on my newsletter list. If you're not, head over to Brendan.com and also by then, Wellness Masterclass will double in price. So make sure you go to brendon.comwellness to get in. Anything else I'm forgetting?
Questions?
Yeah. What questions do you guys have? I'm gonna go back through emotion.
You two deserve pool time.
Thank you. Can I ask you the simplest question? When you guys type in your question, just type in a bunch of question marks first, like three or four question marks, then your question. It's way easier for us to find it later and during the broadcast because I know you all have a lot of questions for us, and sometimes we get to them, sometimes we don't. But honestly, it scrolls so fast sometimes on our side that we don't get to see all of the questions unless you do that.
So I got googly eyes for Brendan. I don't see the question.
You have googly eyes for them. Heather Beck on Instagram says, what's the temperature? It is 81. 81 degrees in Puerto Rico. I know. That's why we're smiling and I'm still in my workout clothes because it's just unbelievable here. We love it. It's snowing where we're usually from in Portland, Oregon. We love you guys in Portland.
Massive. They're having a Snowmageddon.
Snow. Snowmageddon? Yeah. Is that what they call it?
Yes.
That's good.
It's supposed to snow all week. And so I've been getting texts from my friends with pictures of snow, and then I text them back at the beach.
X716 says Denise is radiant, happy, and beautiful. What's the secret to looking so vibrant?
Drink a lot of water. I move a lot. I've really been enjoying getting outside a lot more here because I love being warm. Yeah. I don't know. I try to take good care of myself, and then I don't have to add other things. On it.
She doesn't try to take good care of herself. She takes care of herself every day. From how much she moves and hydrates to, you know, her thoughtfulness and reflecting about her day, to the intention that she brings to things, to how she meal plans to what we eat. We are very excited. She's incredible about sourcing great foods, healthy foods that we really, really enjoy. We get some foods from Thrive Market. Where do we get our fish now? What's that? Oh, Vital Choice.
I ordered my fish from Vital Choice for a really long forever.
This is not sponsored.
And they've added a lot more things on there. Like they have chicken and bison and all sorts of stuff.
Bison, we gotta get more of that. That's crazy. But their salmon, it's great. Their salmon and their halibut is the best we've ever had. It's companies from friends of ours called Vital Choice. A lot of it comes from Alaska. It's super sustainable. Amazing stuff. Wild caught, Line caught. Unbelievably amazing. Amazing. It's called Vital Choice. This is not a sponsored thing. We just. I think we've had them for how long?
Almost 10 years.
Let's see. Alexandra asks, are you vegetarian? We are not vegetarian, though I would say a monster amount of our nutrition is based on plant based. I would say we have greens with every meal.
Most of the plate is greens.
Most of the plate is greens. Most meals are greens. When we have shakes in the morning, which is, for me, I'm mostly a shake person. In the morning, it's all plant based. Protein powder or plant based, all in one kind of formulas. So almost every morning it's. It's just plant based.
Yeah.
Afternoons I move into my proteins because I work out. I consume more protein than she does because I do a lot of heavy lifting and it's required for my energy.
And when we go out to eat, usually my question to the waiter is like, which dish has the most vegetables? Yeah, that's a good one. Which. Can I have a side of vegetables?
She's always like, side of vegetables. Which dish has the most vegetables? That's how she orders, which is super smart. Mike Anderson on Facebook saying, any advice for husband and wife when building your brand and you're extremely busy, Mike, Pool time promises. Pool time promises. I think that's a big part of.
It, I think, finding what you're good at and then doing that. So I think we're trying to. I mean, obviously Brennan already knows what he's good at. I know what I was doing good at in my Last business. And I know what I think I would be good at here. And so it's just trying to find how you can contribute and not be doing the same things, but how you can kind of tag team something and then kind of go your separate ways but collaborate again and then both be resourceful and productive on your own.
Yeah, that would be my. Yeah.
My two cents and recap often.
And know. Hey. Yes. And also know what is the most difficult for your other partner, which we're working on. For example, for me, the most difficult is timing. You know, a lot of things that Denise wants to know and wants to plan and wants to do or feels, you know, not involved in or frustrated by is often a timing thing. I'm like, that's got. That comes to mind tomorrow. That comes next week. I'm so clear on what I have to do and the path and the priorities, because I've been doing this for so long for myself. Now that she's involved, it's super hard for me. And it's my number one challenge is just timing of, like, you know, you know, being at home. And she comes in, she's like, hey. And I'm like, coding, and I'm like, oh, my God, I can't even talk about this. I know you want to know what's happening next Friday, but I have an emergency deadline that has to happen in the next four hours, so please leave me alone.
But I have to say, so this actually was a practice that I started a long time ago with you. And just from what I was noticing when I had my exercise studios, my office was right by the front. And there's also a lot of research on this. But when you are at work and you get constantly interrupted, it's one of those thing that. Things that leads to dissatisfaction or just we're not feeling good about it. So one of the things that I knew if I was. There was a point where I was constantly interrupted and just my role was a lot of switching hats because it would be like, teach class, and then put your teaching class hat off and go do, you know, marketing, and then go do accounting, and then go do. Was very. I learned how to compartmentalize. But one of the things. Things that I started as a practice, I would come to your office door when I had a question. I'd stand there just quietly and kind of look. And if he didn't look up, I would go away because I want to respect the space that he is in. And. Or I would say, come and say, like, is now a good Time. And he'd say, no, I'd be like, no problem, you know, come get me when it is. Or compiler.
She's really good at that. She's really good at that. Because when you're working from home especially, and if you do really technical stuff, which is a big part of my career, I still code a lot of my webpages. I coded the email that goes out today. Like, I'm always like. And those aren't easy things for me, which is why I do them. It keeps me sharp. They're really. There's so many things in the business I do that require because it's not my talent. I'm not really good at it. I have to raise your focus. And I'm kind of like, like this. I mean, I mean, she'll literally come in, I'll have my. No, my Bose noise cancelers on. I'll have a hat on. And I'm just like, yeah, in a hoodie. I'm just like, I'm literally. It's so hard what I do. So that interruption can be difficult. And I know a lot of you ask that question, like, how do you deal with my kids or my spouse interrupting? And the way you do it is you have an honest conversation and you let them know, Please schedule a time to come in, please. When you do come in, say, is this a good time? Please be patient with each other because they're always going to want to know stuff when you're not ready yet to give them the intel. And I think that's a big part of it. And also building a brand takes a long ass time. So be patient with each other. You know, there's a lot that she would love to know and do right now. And I'm like, not yet. I mean, just the reality. It's just how it goes.
So I also think if you have, if you know you need information from somebody, just in general, even if it's your spouse or somebody else that you work with, I always make a list of what questions I need to have answered from them and then I can just go down it efficiently. So when I will take things to a point where I'm like, okay, now I need this from somebody or that from somebody. And then I just organize it all and ask them all at once.
I love it. I am seeing a ton of people coming to High Performance Academy.
Yay.
I'm pumped. Hey, y', all, if you didn't know, we're in Phoenix March 14th to 17th with high performance Academy. And actually, are you coming that way No, I am there. I teach a four day seminar called High Performance Academy. It's coming up. I'm super pumped about it. It's over 2,400, 2,300 some people registered for it. So we would love to see you guys there before it closes out. I want to do a quick run through of all these people. I want to thank Carol, Robin, Mark, Linda, Sherry. Oh, Mike. I want to thank Alexandra, Deborah, Benjamin, Jill, Deborah, Robin, Ben, we see you on Facebook and we appreciate you joining us. I love you, Jeannie, Lucky, Elvis. Elvis, really? Tana, Tia, trying to scroll down here over on Instagram. You all joining us live while we're in real time. We really appreciate that. Hellstone Live, this is going so fast when I go through it like this. This is apparently not the way to do this, but we really appreciate y' all joining us live. We hope that. Let's see. Ben is asking on Facebook one last question. How has your health transition been to island living? Oh, my gosh, the time that we've had that we've been here because we kind of flew in, we moved in, we moved two locations, we started a brand, we started a business, we went to an event, came back. So the time that we have been here has been amazing because the gyms that we go to on the island are amazing, are amazing and it's fun because you got to like, we walk to many of them and so that's been a big part of it, like make you come alive. It's like you get the vitamin D on the walk or the run or the journey over there. And that's huge. I know Robin is saying it's snowing in Oregon and on the coast. It's snowing in a lot of places. Our friends were telling us, even in Texas. So it's all over the place. So we appreciate that because I grew up in the snow. We appreciate that because we lived in Port Portland, Oregon, where it was gray for a lot of times. So we are definitely appreciating palm trees, white sandy beaches and the blue oceans. So God bless Puerto Rico. We love it. Any last thoughts?
