In this instructional video, Bill from Beyond Fitness Online demonstrates how to use forceful exhalations to actively engage core musculature. He guides viewers through three anatomical cue sets—bottom rib to top of the hip, xiphoid process to pubis, and top rib to pelvis—encouraging a hard exhale that pulls these landmarks together, creating a deep core contraction. Bill explains that this breathing‑focused method can quickly enhance core strength, stability, and balance, especially benefiting individuals with vestibular deficits or pain. He shares personal and client experiences of rapid results, references ongoing research on breathing’s systemic effects, and ends with a call to comment, subscribe, and continue living healthily.

Hi, I'm Bill from Beyond Fitness Online. Today, I'm going to show you how to use breathing to work on your core muscles. It's really kind of a strange concept to think about because we think, oh, I breathe all the time, why wouldn't I always be working my core muscles? Now, there's a lot of studies being done right now about breathing and how it impacts our body and our brain in all these different ways. What I really like to use it for in a practical way is to help you to engage your core musculature, and we do that through the exhale portion of our breathing. So what we're going to do is we're just going to take a normal breath in, and I'm going to show you several different muscles that you're going to want to focus on contracting while you exhale very hard, and you're going to be amazed at how much impact that makes on your core. So check that out right here. Okay, so to do this properly, what we want to do first is become aware of our core musculature. So find your bottom rib and then find the top of your hip bone, and when you exhale, I just want you to kind of feel like you're bringing these 2 things together. So from here to here. So it's here, and you feel that contract. So that's the first one. If you need to pause this and rewind and try again, go ahead and do that. I'm going to move on to the next one. The next one is going to be from right here, like kind of the xiphoid process, to the top of the pubis. And as you exhale, those 2 parts should be coming together. So here. Now you may also feel that this incaves in a little. That's completely normal and that should happen. Now you also want to do this on the back of your body, kind of feel the top rib and the Bottom— or the top of the pelvis. And again, breathe out. And so you feel everything here kind of start to really contract. And if you exhale fairly quickly and hard, really focused on those muscles, you're going to wake up tomorrow thinking, oh wow, I worked my abs in a different way. I hope you found that interesting. I've been using that for myself and with several of my clients with amazing results on how quickly it makes you feel stronger and more stable through the core. This is really great for if for people who have any kind of vestibular deficit because the vestibular system is very closely connected to our breathing system as well. So it's important to really work this in. It can solve a lot of problems. It can help alleviate pain. The the breathing stuff can be really really powerful. Leave me a comment below.
