Khadijah J. Head and Odari Head run Head's Plumbing, a Black-owned Georgia company their family started in 1981 during a recession. They've stayed in business for decades by training the next generation and recently adopted ServiceTitan to send real-time photos and videos to customers.

Our company started in 1981. It was the courageous fortitude of my parents in the middle of an economic recession to take a chance to say, hey, we're going to take a chance on ourselves and build this business. My name is Khadijah J. Head and I'm CEO of Head's Plumbing Sales and Service Inc. We're Georgia's oldest and most experienced black owned plumbing company.
My name is Odari Head. I'm president of Head's Plumbing Sales and Service Inc. I've been with the company since I was, I guess 10 years old. Started going out with my dad and granddad during the summer, crawling up on the houses, unstopping sewer lines. I think I was too young to be doing some of this stuff. I think it probably broke a couple of violations. What makes Heads Plumbing different from our competition is that we're a family oriented company and the guys and ladies here are like family.
We've seen this company evolve to only employing individuals with the last name Uphead to now we have an eclectic subset of families inside of our family business.
Byron has been with us the longest. To see him bring his son.
I love working with my son. He's a good helper and it just makes my life a lot easier. My name is Byron Hardin. My position is plumber supervisor. My name is. My name is Benjamin Harding. My position is plumber helper. I love working with my dad. Obviously it's great to work with my dad. Not a lot of people get to experience that. Harris Plumbing is stable in the community. They've been around for over 40 years.
When I go out to the senior's home, it feels like I'm going to my grandmother's house and I and try to put in the extra effort to help them out. Service time has helped us with a better customer service experience. We understand what the technician wrote on this customer's invoice. We're able to upload pictures.
Being able to use the software to take pictures really helps the office staff see what I see at real time and we can communicate and know what we're both talking about.
So if a homeowner was out of town when they have a plumbing emergency, they need that assistant right then, right now. And what service Titan allows us to do is to go into the customer's home and make them feel like they're right there. We can take videos, we can show them photos, and then we e sign estimates, we e sign invoices and we can all collect payment just like that. That's the beauty of service titan. We're not the trays of the past, we're the trays of the future. We're very tech savvy. Technology is very integrated into what we do. We work with iPads, we work with iPhones. Everything that you need, it is here in the trades.
It's a certain joy that you get when you're able to go in and solve a person problem. I've gone in custom and they're panicking, crying, and to be able to come in, save the day, fix the problem, kind of be a, I guess a superhero sort of.
One thing I really want to express is the importance of the next generation of the trade.
I've been inspired. I know if I hadn't gotten into the trade, I wouldn't have found this. I wouldn't have found something that I love to do.
When I look at his plumbing. We're a multi generation company. It is a company. It is a organization that started alongside our parents and our grandparents. My brother Odara and I were very fortunate to be among the slim few that are third generation business owners. And we're so fortunate that we're also able to understand that the fourth generation are really looking at us and understanding that, hey, we've gone from being technicians in the company to business owners of the companies. I'm so excited to see what they do with the company next.
