Bill Brown teaches ServiceTitan developers how to build custom dashboards from scratch. DIY dashboards cost less and offer more flexibility than paid tools, though they take longer to set up at first. He recommends alternative connectors over Zapier and compares your first dashboard to changing car brakes: slow the first time, faster after.

Hey, what's up, ServiceTitan hackers? I'm Bill Brown. I'm gonna be your instructor for this course today, and I'm really excited to have you. And this is gonna be really cool. We're gonna get to nerd out on dashboards, which I know everybody loves. This is a DIY course, but DIY doesn't necessarily mean easy. I'd say the absolute easiest easiest way to get dashboards is to go to a company that does it and pay a ton of money, right? Now, that's not what we're doing. So you'll find that some of the workflow isn't the most efficient way to do it. The way that I run my dashboards are through other connectors rather than Zapier, but this will work. It will be flexible, and once you build The first one, just like changing the first brake on your car, you'll get a lot faster and it'll be easier. So it'll also become a rabbit hole where you might tweak out on dashboards all the time. So I'm really excited to have you. I hope you learn a lot, and if you have any questions, feel free to drop it in the comments, or you can email me directly at bill@st-hacks.com. That's st-hacks.com, and I'm happy to help you. All right, have fun.
