This is an interview excerpt in which Justin White describes his biggest challenge taking leadership of his family's business: a lack of self-trust that made him seek excessive approval, slow decision-making, and fear of failing the company. Over several years he learned to trust his decisions and accept responsibility for steering the business.

Tell me a bit about the biggest challenge you had to overcome, taking on that leadership at a very young age, and how you overcame it, how you did it.
I think my biggest challenge was the inability to trust myself. And I felt this need to get everyone else's approval before I made a decision, which slows down the decision making and honestly waters down your ability to be decisive and push the company forward. So it took me a few years to figure out that I can trust my decision making, and I am the person in charge, taking over from your parents, who have ran this business for nearly 30 years. At this point, I was very worried about ruining it and killing the business. And I was like, gosh, I don't want it to die on my watch.
