Lance Bachmann gets a 6 am text every morning with his roofing company's key numbers: bookings by location, previous day's sales and installed revenue, month-to-date pacing, top performers, and outstanding balances per division. Daily tracking keeps the business from drifting. The three metrics that matter most are sales, bookings, and cash.

Every single morning I get my text at 6 o'clock. At 6:03 this morning I get our daily Install Manager booking so we can see exactly what's going on by location. Then I get our daily sales and revenue so I know exactly what we sold and what we installed the day before exactly. Then I get estimated books, daily books, so we know exactly how many calls we booked, the first leads, so we got a great book rate. Then I get the month-to-date sales and what we're pacing at so I know exactly how much we sold, what we're pacing at, revenue installed, what we're pacing at. That comes every day. I get our top leaderboards, and Bill and Mike Shelley and our leaders use this to congratulate people. And then I can see what our outstanding balances are per division, how much money is out there, and, you know, we gotta go collect the money. And they're the main things I look at.
But you're staying focused on the main things. Sales, bookings, and cash on the daily.
Listen, I mean, do I get into how many leads— we have a weekly call for all that information, but if you don't manage things daily, things get out of control. So we manage daily.
