Short excerpt from a 2025 HVAC-focused discussion. Speakers report that their community of readers/respondents expresses 'cautious optimism' and emphasizes returning to basics — executing fundamentals like quality work, presenting options, marketing, leveraging existing customers, and monitoring costs and financials.
I want to just hear about how your community of readers is responding to these economic trends. Specifically what are you hearing from the folks that you're talking to on a regular basis?
I would say cautious optimism with a focus on just executing the fundamentals. And this is based on some conversations that I had like early, early this year and then even some more recent ones. But really and this is at the contractor level it seems to me that it's okay. I can pay attention to all the headlines all this and that all day long but at the end of the day what's really going to matter for us is that we get back to basics, that we execute the fundamentals, that we present options, that we do good work, continue marketing getting new customers, that we're tapping our existing customer bases to generate revenue. We're watching our costs, we're watching the P and L balance sheet, whatever. We're just going to keep our heads down and execute.
