A 2025 YouTube sales-training talk urging salespeople and service technicians to examine whether their habits and mindset are causing self-sabotage. The speaker argues that colleagues with similar hours and calls often earn more because they do things differently and urges listeners to ask and learn from them rather than excuse poor results.
If you're driving around all day thinking you're doing the right thing, but you're not getting the right results, I would encourage you to ask yourself, are you really doing the right thing? Because we know what the results should be. We know there's people doing your job. This is a big one. There's people doing your job as a service tech. They work the same amount of hours you work. They're away from their family the same amount of hours you are. They put in the same amount of overtime you put in. They run the same amount of calls you run, and they make twice as much money as you. And that should piss you off. Does that piss you off? Because it should. Think about it. If I'm a sales guy and there's other salespeople in there, and I said, well, I work six days a week, and this guy says, well, I work six days a week and I run X amount of calls per week. And he says, I'm running X amount of calls per week. And he goes, And I said, well, I'm away from my family a whole lot. And he goes, I'm away from my family a whole lot. If that guy's making twice as much money as me, that should piss me off. And that should make you mad, because he knows something you don't know. And it. He'd probably tell you what it was if you just ask him. We found the enemy, and he is us. We're our own worst enemy. We're the boat with the holes in it. We're driving around talking about how pretty our boat is.
