Why Are Millennials So LAZY??

Richard Kohberger pushes back on the lazy millennial stereotype, arguing that millennials adapt to internet-enabled work like flexible schedules and side hustles. They're not lazy, just working differently than previous generations.
What's going on, everybody? It's Richard Kohberger here, the blue collar nerd. You know, us millennials, we tend to get a bad rep. You know, we get accused of killing shitty restaurants like Applebee's. We get accused of ruining industries that make useless products like fabric softener. But the worst one. Oh, the worst one that gets thrown around is that we millennials were lazy. See, I tend to disagree with that. I think that people, generation to generation, they don't really change that much. It's the environment around them that changes and do what they do best, and they adapt to their environment. See, today, there are a lot more opportunities than there were 50, 60, 70 years ago, thanks to a little thing called the Internet. You can make money doing a whole lot of different things, and you can work on your own schedule. You can work from home. You can work being a YouTuber, for example. You know, 50 years ago, I would have just been some weirdo walking around an abandoned tennis court talking to himself. People would have been kind of murmuring from their porches, hey, should we call cops? What do we do? But today, I'm hustling, baby. This is a job. This is working. See, I can do this on my own time. I can still do the things that I have to do for my company, and I can do this on the side. Everybody's got a side hustle these days because it's just so easy to have one. You can run Uber on the side, you can write an e book and make revenue off of that while you're in bed. There's tons and tons of things that you can do. And so because all these opportunities exist, people now have different expectations about what a job is. See, it's not so much about, oh, I'm a millennial, and so therefore, I'm lazy, and I want a whole bunch of free time to just lay around and do nothing. No, I'm a millennial, and so I know that I have all these opportunities out there and I can work on my own schedule if I want to see. Me, I'm a night person. Personally, I hate waking up early. It feels terrible in the morning. I just feel sick. I don't feel good. I'm not productive. And so for me, usually, unless there's something very spec waking up in the morning, it does me no good. It's a waste of time. I wake up and I feel terrible, and I don't get anything done anyways until the afternoon and the evening. I feel great in the evening. That's when I'm most productive. That's when my creative juices are flowing. So I, my entire life, have always slept later, you know, 10, 11, and worked into the night. And I go to bed, you know, two in the morning. Does that make me lazy? I don't think so. I spend most of my waking hours working, working. It's just that my waking hours are different than the traditional waking hours. So we have to get used to that. Because millennials, like it or not, they're going to be an increasing part of the workforce. They're going to make up the majority of your company, if they don't already. So you really need to understand them and not be hostile towards them. If you're planning on being in the game for a while, some things you can offer, like different schedules, people who only want to work the weekends, people who only want to work, even adapt to that, work with that. That's the expectation that people have now. That's what we grew up seeing. We know that there are a ton of things out there that we can do that will let us work on our own schedules and work when we want to work. There's nothing wrong with that. It's still work. Any way you look at it. It's still a lot of work. Anyways, that's all I got. Hey, if you liked the video, be sure to hit, like, hit subscribe.
