Well, you know, if you're trying to grow your business, you need everybody carrying their weight. You need a high performing team, you need to hang on to the good people. So one of the things that you want to do is become a learning and developing organization.
So you to want, you want to.
Become the kind of organization that trains and develops people so they keep getting better at what they do and they stick around. Right when people are learning and growing, they like where they are better. They are more likely to stick around. They think that they're improving as human beings, they're getting more valuable as employees over time. So how do you become a kind of an organization that highlights training and development if you're pretty small, if you're growing, if you don't have like a lot of extra headcount, well, that's a really useful and interesting thing. We talked about that recently in our functional accountability chart. One of the functions that you want to cover is training development is the human development of your people. How do you train and develop people on your team so that they do better and they stick around? So the thing to do is to start to bring what you already do. And the vast majority of our owners, founders, senior leaders of companies are naturally learning and development people. But you don't necessarily push that down into the organization. And usually the reasons are you're really busy. Not that you're too cheap, maybe your budgets are tight, but you're busy and you have tight budgets. So you don't hire and staff a whole thing like that. That feels like something that only enterprise companies do. So if you would just start to share that, bring that in, formalize the training and development and move it into the company, you don't have to spend a lot on it. You could even start with a weekly lunch and Learn that rotates. It could be different business topics, it could be some personal hobbies, things like that that you're encouraging people to share and then you start to build and document. How does each job get done? Well, one of our partner tools is a company, Trainual and they take the online documentation plus the learning management and they put it in a simple, affordable software package and you could use that. Many of our clients have used that and love Trainual. But let's take the kinds of things that we've done, systematize them and document them and then make the learning recurring. So the basics of course are how do you do a particular job, your role within any functional area of the company on a consistent basis. That's like not being done in many companies, but is the beginning of table stakes. Now we want to look up, we want to add some human things. How do we work together better? How do we know ourselves better? How do we communicate better? How do we deepen our relationships with our customers? Right. These are softer, more subtle kinds of things. And if we bring all of the different things, think about what you do to learn. Right? I, I do things across every area from fitness to finance to philosophy and like whatever, I'm always learning. So how do I bring some of that regular habit and share it with my team on the regular basis? That's your challenge to do on any budget. You can do this, but creating it at a regular repeatable thing is the way to create a growing scaling company. Hope that's been helpful. Hope you can become a learning and developing organization and that your people get better every day and they stick around because of what they see about themselves.
