I want to talk to you about mindfulness and meditation, all manners of these practices. Look, I first learned to meditate at about the age of six. My parents took me to some kind of TM practitioner and they gave me a mantra and they taught me how to calm my mind and focus myself and bring down. It was probably really helpful for me at the time. I don't know what it was like to be a parent to me, but I'm sure that I was a handful anyway. So Starting from age 6, I began to practice some form of meditation. I went on to learn many other forms of meditation and other mindfulness practices. I learned walking meditation, I learned body scan and breathing techniques and things like that, you know, from the age of six, all up. So I really consider like meditation, mindfulness my birthright. Here's the thing I want you to know. You don't need a ponytail or a man bun. You don't need an excessive amount of tattoos or a lot of hemp clothing or that kind of thing to benefit from meditation. You don't have to change your name to some Sanskrit thingy. You could bring some control, some focusing of your own mind from spinning out of control and bringing it under control and be more effective, more productive, more peaceful in your life. There are many different things. I go to these trees out behind me all the time, and I stand up and I look up in them and I take an awe walk, a walk where I look to find awe in my surroundings. Like, look to be awed and altered by that and get out of my own head and all the concerns that I have and just be in nature. So taking a walk, controlling my breathing, putting a mental focus on something, looking out at nature, any and all of these, you could use a guided meditation app, but you really don't need to just being still for a minute, even not doing it well, like doing meditation badly. So I'm going to sit there and I'm going to try to control my mind and then what's going through is, oh, I can't do this right now. No, I'm not there. Oh, my foot's itchy or oh, my back is hurt and I'm squirmy today. And I like, you know, all of that could be part of the meditation. And all you really need to do is bring the focus back. Oh, be an observer of the person with all those distractions. Oh, that's that. Okay, now control my breathing again. Try a breathing focus. In, out, in, hold out, hold in, hold. Right. Like you could go through a four Part box. Breathing. Going in, holding it in, letting it out, holding it out, bringing it back in, holding. Just go through that a number of times. Bring awareness to different parts of your body. Start at your toes, move up through your lower legs and your knees and your hips and your abdomen, your back and your shoulders and your fingers and your hands and up into the back of your neck and all around your head and your jaw and your face and just bring awareness to it. And with each thing that you bring awareness to relax it, right? And you could try, if you get really relaxed, you get good at that. Try some visualization. What do I want the business to look like next year, in five years, in 10 years? What do I want my life to look like? If I was victorious with this thing, what would that do for me? Like you could try lots of different visualizations as well once you've got that kind of chilled out state. Or maybe you're just kind of spinning out of control. So go take a walk and look out in nature. Look up in the trees and think about what's going on up there and not the person that is not working out in your business or a partner who's letting you down or any number of other things that you might do. All of these kinds of things are things that you could do and that could become your birthright like they are mine. Bring mindfulness meditation, self awareness into your world. One of the things that benefited me greatly, even though I've grown up with this, is I took a class some years ago called mbsr, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. Recommended by many doctors, even paid for by some healthcare plans. Check it out, they have them all the time. My course took place over about 10 weeks. We learned and practiced many things. Light yoga, walking, thinking, talking, breathing control, lots of different kinds of stress reduction techniques, a whole menu of them so you could find the things that really worked for you. And then we did that over 10 weeks and that was really helpful as I went through a time that was both personally difficult in my life, my family life and my business was big and growing big and struggling with things at the time too. So stress at home, stress at work, all happening at the same time. The MBSR class helped me out. See what there is to you. You could start with just some breathing control today, but whatever it is, I really encourage you to make some kind of mindfulness practice a part of your life. I hope this has been helpful. We'll talk to you again soon. Keep scaling. Are you thinking about how to grow.
