You maybe heard it before. Vulnerability is powerful, except we've learned to hide our feelings, our emotions, especially the strong ones on either end of the spectrum. Nobody wants to be seen crying at work. Nobody wants to be seen crying in a professional session or even getting choked up, right? That could be from lots of different it doesn't have to be sad or weakness or hurt. You could get choked up just because you're so passionate. You're so moved about things. By the same token, we've also learned to temper our emotions, to not act so giddy, not act so excited, not be so exuberant. I once was making a big pitch in a very large company, starting a new division within the company, and I said some kind of outrageous, outrageous, excited words that were natural for me. I talked about being wildly successful and I don't even remember what they all were. But my boss told me before I made that big pitch before the senior execs of the company to tamp it down a bit, to act responsible, to act sober, right? And so I checked my passion, my exuberance, instead of finding the right way to let that out, I suppressed it because he told me to. Well, that was him. So often in our world we've learned, especially in our profession world, but in our Western world in general, we've learned to suppress our emotions, to hide our feelings and not to be so emotional, not to let it all come out. Except we also are told lately, especially lately, that vulnerability is powerful. Why is that? How is vulnerability, how is my crying or getting upset or showing emotion powerful. Vulnerability is being able to show something that isn't normal. Now here's the thing. That takes courage and that takes strength. Vulnerability requires courage and strength. It's powerful because it touches people emotionally and emotion and feelings are at the heart of our decision and our actions. All of us, whether you think so or not, make our decisions and take action based on our feelings. And then we justify them, we rationalize them, we explain them, we work with them in our logical conscious mind, but we make them emotionally. So if you'll get in touch with your own feelings, get comfortable with your feelings, all of them, the good ones, the playful ones, the flirty ones, as well as the darker ones. Your anger, your despair, right, Your upset, your fears. If you could express all of that and have real emotional fitness, be able to move through that and show that publicly, then you'd have powerful vulnerability. Now, you may get choked up at some time or another. And then you could also leave people with your stand, your commitment. And that can take a moment that might look like weakness and turn it into something really powerful. That's like Braveheart kind of stuff. When you're willing, willing to say, yes, I'm terrified, yes, but we're doing this thing or I'm super excited and I'm worried it could like showing the full range of that. There's real power in that. Get in touch with your feelings, let them out a little bit, learn to use them to connect with other people, to get people excited, to get people to take action. Hope that's been helpful for you.
I hope that you find that as.
