184: AI + Chiropractic with Billy Sticker

Billy Sticker shows chiropractors how to use AI for marketing and patient management, from ChatGPT for emails and scripts to AICA, an AI chatbot that booked three appointments in four hours on Instagram and Facebook. He warns against uploading patient data to generic AI platforms and compares AI's potential to early Facebook advertising.

It's automatically in the background getting people booked on your calendar. And you don't have to think about it. It's working automatically. You are listening to Chirogandi, the podcast of sweet chiropractic success. Here's your host, Billy Sticker. Welcome to another episode of the Kyle Kaney Podcast. This is going to be one that I haven't done like this in quite a minute. This will be a solo episode, so it's just going to be me sitting down talking with you. And on this show, I want us to talk about AI. And if you can imagine us sitting down, grabbing some coffee, catching up, and then me just really sharing with you what I'm excited about. What we're doing kind of behind the scenes with AI right now in the agency for our business and what it's doing for some clients. We're testing it on, on and just going to have a conversation. So I hope that you, that you come with an open mind and really get ready, you know, to embrace this new era. When I think about AI and what's going on right now, I really believe this is what Facebook was 10 years ago. You know, 10 years ago you had one or two people that you may know that were advertising on Facebook. It was there. You knew that there were people there. You didn't even know how it was going to benefit your practice. So, you know, maybe you set up a Facebook page and that was really about it. But now pretty much everybody is doing some kind of marketing, some, some type of advertising on social media, whether That's Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Google Ads, just all the different social media stuff out there. And I really believe that AI is like 2014 Facebook. And whenever you start looking up, okay, you know, how can I use AI in my business? There's so many different ways. And I do want to preface this episode by saying I am not an attorney. I cannot. You know, I have taken several different HIPAA certification classes. As a matter of fact, everybody on our team is taking HIPAA certification stuff just to know what we can do and what we can't do. But I definitely would be very, very careful, excuse me, very careful using any kind of, any kind of program that's going to have you take your database and upload it to chat GPT, for example, to have them look to see, you know, to run a bunch of stats on patient visits, you know, how often they're coming in. And like, there's all kinds of stuff that you can do. And if you were just a traditional business, maybe, but if you, you know, like, if you weren't in the healthcare arena, but since you are, I would be very, very hesitant about that. So we're not going to talk about that kind of AI and how it could help with tracking different stats and things like that. I'm a marketer and our goal at Chiro Candy is to help. We want to deliver quality patients. Like that is our, that's the goal that everybody in the company knows. Deliver quality patients. So when I think of AI, it's like, how can I use this to grow our practice or like to grow our business and help our clients grow their practice? So that's really the lens that I try to look at all this through. But let's just kind of back up just a little bit. You know, what exactly is AI? I don't know if I'm necessarily qualified to answer that totally, but it's obviously something that is pretty phenomenal. If you're like most of us, you've used ChatGPT to, you know, maybe write an email. Matter of fact, I had a, we had a client the other day and, you know, we're in a position where hopefully you are like this too. Not every patient is a great fit for your, you know, for your practice. Not every office out there is a great fit for us. And I had to politely let a client go. And I just think he was really looking for an employee, not necessarily, you know, an agency. And the thing is, we were getting him great results, phenomenal results. But anyway, I'm not going to get into all the details and he's a really, really nice guy, but it was obvious that he just wasn't going to be a good fit. And so I got, got on ChatGPT and was like, okay, I said, here's the email that I have written. I need you to rewrite it for me. Lean more towards personal than professional. Now that's just my, that's just one of the things that I do when I'm talking to it is if I'm communicating with somebody, I tend to be a little more personal than, than professional. So, you know, be a little more personal than professional. And a lot of times I'll tell ChatGPT to write, whether it's, if it's writing, helping write content, or even like a video script idea, which we'll get into in a minute. I tell it to write in a fifth grade or communicate in a fifth grade level. There was a study done several years ago, it was back right after 2016, and someone had taken these different transcripts of speeches from Obama, Clinton and Donald Trump. And this isn't going to be the exact number, but I believe they said Obama spoke at like a 10th or 11th grade reading level. Like his vocabulary he used. Hillary Clinton was around like 10th grade, you know, 9th or 10th grade, something like that. And then. But the key point here is Donald Trump communicated in a fifth grade level. And I think for the most part that's about how most of us communicate whenever we're talking with our friends and things like that. Excuse me. I have actually just got back today from F1. We were in Austin all weekend, took our camper there and it's incredibly dusty and it got. So my allergies are acting up, got a bit of a cough. And since we're just having a conversation, just you and I sitting down, drinking some coffee, we're not going to edit, we're not going to edit this out. But anyway, I, I'm telling AI, you know, hey, write more personal, you know, fifth grade communication. And then it spit out a fantastic email and there's some things that I wanted to go, you know, go back and tweak on a little bit. But there's a good chance you've done something like that. I think that's what most, most of us, you know, we use it for that kind of stuff, get ideas for content. But you know, one of the things you could do is actually write, you know, have it help with giving you ideas for, you know, I'm a chiropractor. This is what I specialize in. My ideal patient is xyz. Help me come up with some video topics that speak to the needs and speak to the desires of this demographic. I need hooks and I need, you know, call to actions. You can get really detailed and then have it, you know, and you can even tell it to, you know, now take all this information and put it in a CSV file and then you can, you know, now you have a CSV file that you can, you know, open up in Google sheets and it's got the hook ideas, content ideas, you know, things like that. There's some really, really creative things that you can do with it. But that's pretty much how I've been using it, you know, just for like content stuff. And a good friend of mine named Jonathan Mast, I know him from the agency world, he had an agency, kind of stepped out of his role in that agency and got into AI and he knows a lot about all the different platforms, whether it's Claude Perplexity, you know, chat, GPT all different things. So he and I talk about this quite a bit. But I started thinking, okay, how, how can we use this to actually help our clients? And one of the ways is, first off, think about this. Whenever we look at our strategy and if you've listened to us before, maybe you've worked with us in the past, our Perfect Patient Tribe Turbine is the bread and butter of what really helps set our doctors up as authority in their market. We do that by helping you create some very specific content that speaks to your ideal audience. We in the back end, we tell Facebook to build out these different audiences, and we've got different episodes. You can go back probably four or five episodes. We kind of talk about what's really working now on Facebook, and we kind of go through that a little bit. So if you've listened to me before, you've heard us talk about our Perfect patient Tribe Turbine. We even have a book. If you're watching this on video, you can see it right here, Tribe of Patients. But a lot of that is centered around our doctors doing content. And even we have some offices that it's the CAS doing a lot of the videos. And it actually still works really well. Well, one of the issues we have if a client, you know, just some of the people we work with aren't comfortable doing videos, I get that. But it still works really, really well. Well, there are different tools now, and I'm not going to get all into that. You know, in this episode, I'm going to be talking about that more. We actually have a webinar coming up. At the time that I'm recording this, we're still about a week out. But what I want you to do, if you're obviously probably listening this in the future, you can still go to chirocandy.comaiwebinar to register for the webinar. Or if this is after we've already done the webinar, you'll be able to catch a replay. So, chiralkandi.comai-webinar and I'm going to go into some more details on some of these different tools and stuff that you could use. But there's some incredible things that we could do with video now where we can actually upload these different texts and it'll create videos for us. But we're still being able to do some branding with it, still being able to help build these audiences that still help establish you as the authority in your local area, you know, so that's, you know, that's definitely one of the ways you know, that's one of the things that we see a need for, is with these doctors who don't want to be doing videos. So how can we help there? AI has things that we can help with that we can actually have doctors record a specific video, we upload it, and AI learns your mannerisms, your voice, inflection, and then we feed it scripts and it'll create these videos for us. Now, it's not going to do a lot of demonstrable type things like where you're demonstrating, you know, whatever in your office, or you're doing a video and you've got a spine in your hand, talking about cervical issues and headaches. It's not gonna be able to take over and do that for you. But there's still some really cool stuff we can do with that. Another area that we see is a big, big hole in the market is speed delete. So right now, think about how many opportunities, new patient opportunities are you missing every single month, every single week. Think about the people that are coming to your website, but don't schedule, right. They're coming to your site because they looked you up. You have spent years, or right now you've got a budget and you're spending money on SEO or you're spending money on Google Ads and all these things. You're driving traffic to your website and people are going there, but then they're just not scheduling, and it's not because they're not interested. You know, maybe the doorbell rang or the boss walked in, or, you know, the phone rang, baby started crying. There's all kinds of things that could have happened where they didn't come in. And so first off, you want to make sure you have a tracking pixel set up on your site. But there's some other things, like AI can actually step in here and help. Help actually get that person, answer their question and get them booked for an appointment. It's incredible. So just people going to your website, we can use AI to capture those people, answer their questions with the sole focus of getting them booked on your calendar. And we've been doing this for Chiral Candy. As a matter of fact, this is a great example. We had somebody message us on Instagram just a couple of days ago. So I don't know if they saw one of our ads or whatever, but they sent us a message on Instagram and said, hey, I'm interested in inquiring about your price or about your marketing services. And our AI just said, absolutely. You know, who am I speaking with? And just has this Conversation. And we. Whenever we're. We're using it, we actually get to use our app. And we're looking. And so me and some of the team, we were texting back and forth like, hey, are you watching this? And so I guess this was actually last week that this happened. But every time we have one of these come in, it's just fascinating, us getting to watch. And then the guy asked for prices, and the AI said, you know, well, it depends really on what services, you know, you're going to be interested, you know, that you need. But, you know, our prices start here and go up to here. You know, would you like to schedule an appointment? And, you know, he's like, as a matter of fact, I would. The AI is like, okay, great. We have next Monday or Tuesday available. Or, you know, whatever it was. Like, it gives it different options. And they went back and forth, picked out a time, like, it worked flawlessly. And what's really cool, too, is we have the availability, like, it's actually set to where if me or somebody on the team wanted to hop in to answer a question, then the AI pauses and then just lets us kind of take over. But if you think about your team, you know, going back to this whole thing about how many opportunities are you missing right now? One of the things we hear is, you know, hey, I've done Facebook ads before, and it's very poor quality leads. Well, if you're running our perfect inpatient Tribe Turbine, the quality of the people that are coming in are much, much, much higher. Because we're establishing you as an authority. We retarget all these people that have been watching your videos with whatever new patient offer that you want. So these are people who already know, like, and trust you. That's why they responded to the retargeting ad and not just this initial, you know, discounted offer. So we know they're a higher quality, you know, quality lead coming in. But the thing is, is your team's busy, so they get a notification that, you know, somebody just responded to an ad on Instagram. Well, they're doing other things in the office, and the longer they wait to respond to that lead, it dramatically reduces the chance that that lead's gonna actually book an appointment. Well, what if you didn't have to worry about that? With AI, it will actually communicate. As soon as the lead comes in, it'll start communicating, texting back and forth with the lead, or if it's a Facebook message, it'll message on Facebook or Instagram. Whatever the platform it is, it'll message back and forth with the sole purpose of answering a handful of questions and getting them booked on your calendar, not sending a calendar link, actually knowing the availability and getting. Getting that person booked on the calendar. And we can actually even train it. I like to tell people it's like this right now. One, your team is busy, and then even if your team isn't busy, how. What are they trained to actually, you know, work these leads? We actually get to give this. We actually call it your aica. We get to train your aica. We give it a personality. I was talking about this earlier. Do you want it more friendly or do you want it more professional? It's totally up to you. We want it to. To kind of match the culture that you have in your office. And then we give it this knowledge base to pull from. You know, if you. Excuse me, let's say that you do, you know, you take insurance in your, in your office, we can train it to actually ask, hey, you know what insurance you know, do you have or whatever. Or if I'm sure this is a question that your team gets a lot. Do you guys take insurance? Let's say you're a cash practice. How would you train your team to respond to that question? We could train the. Your AICA to do the exact same thing. And then you're also, you get to watch it, you get to see how it responds. And let's say that it answers a question not exactly how you would prefer, just like one of your team members might, right? You have a team member, you hear them on the phone, they get off the phone, and you're like, hey, next time you get that question, this is how you should ask. I worked in office for a chiropractor for several years. Like, I know you guys go through this. We train the AI to do the exact same thing. But you know what? You only have to train it once. It's like a seasoned CA that just gets better and better and better with time. But you don't have to worry about it ever forgetting. You don't have to worry about it calling in sick. You don't have to worry about it getting off at 6 or 5. Like, it works 24 7. And it sounds incredibly professional. And we're actually even working on the back end. We're not going to be doing this yet, but we even have the availability to make AI phone calls that respond. That's conversational. Sounds incredible, but it's. It's one of those things where I don't think we're ready for it yet. Most offices, I know you guys probably aren't. You wouldn't want that happening. But let me tell you, over the next four or five years, you are going to see people as a, just as a. As this progresses, people are going to be more used to talking with AI. And sometimes you may not even know it's AI. Like, these voices are phenomenal. Speechify, we're going to push pause for just a second. Speechify is a very, very cool app. I use it to read like PDFs a lot. One of the things I actually help preach at our church. I'm on one of our speaking team and we have multiple locations. There's about five or so of us that take turns. So our pastor preaches the different locations and then at the other campus, we rotate on who's speaking. But as a team, we all get together and help. You know, the pastor kind of gives us a general idea of what series and stuff we're going to be working on. He'll write the main outline of our sermons and then we kind of go through it and make it our own. But you know, this as an example, talking about Speechify, I use this. I actually, you know, he'll send me the notes, I'll put it in Speechify and I'll listen to it. You know, a couple of weeks before, before I need to start preparing for this message, I just listen to the outline over and over again on Speechify and then I'll go through, take that outline, add my own stories, maybe even add some different scriptures, whatever. But I actually just make that, you know, that message my own. I use Speechify for this. Well, the other day I was listening to something on there and there was a new feature and it said, use your, you know, use your own voice. And it had me read two to three sentences. Excuse me. So I read two to three sentences. It took like 22 seconds. I saw this little timer on there. And now Speechify has my own voice programmed in there. And now I can upload a document and it'll read it back to me in my own voice. It's incredible. I've got a new book coming out. As a matter of fact, I've just got my first copy. It's sitting right here. And if you're watching this on YouTube, you can. Or watching the video of it, you'll be able to see it. But it's AI powered chiropractic marketing and it's a lot of the stuff I'm kind of talking about now. It's stuff I'M going to be going over in the webinar, but I had everything written out, and I was just kind of going over it again, uploaded to Speechify, had it in my own voice, reading the book to me in my own voice. It's crazy, but I do think one day we're just. People are going to be used to that, and you'll be able to not only have, you know, your. Your AICA sending text messages and Facebook messages and stuff like that, getting them booked, they'll actually be able to do it, you know, with voice. I don't think most of us don't want to do that yet, and I don't blame you. If I was, you know, running an office, I don't think I'd want to do that either. But it's available, and we're already on the cutting edge of all this new technology because whenever it's. It's time and people do want to start doing it, we want to be ready. We want to know what's available, what is going to make your life easier and get you better results. That's what we want to be on the cutting edge of. I'm telling you right now, I have spent more time going down this AI rabbit hole the past couple of months than I ever expected to. But with this, you know, having your own aica, like I said, it's like having an employee that you don't have to pay the, you know, these outrageous, you know, salaries. You don't pay benefits, you don't have to pay, you know, insurance. It doesn't call in sick. You train it, you know, you train the personality, you train the. The back end, the knowledge base of information it pulls from, and it knows its goal is to book appointments. Like, that's the sole purpose. Let's say that you had. We can also do an AICA that we can equip it to answer different questions. So let's say that you have a workshop that you do quite often, or a whole series of YouTube videos on different health talks and stuff that you've given. We can have all those transcribed, upload it to train the AICA to know all this information. So if somebody was to ask it a question based on that, it could actually answer that question. Now, it's one of those things where just because you can do that, I don't actually think you should. Not if the purpose is to get a patient booked, right. In marketing, you're taking somebody down a path. A great example of this is, you know, whenever you send out an email, the first thing you look at when you open your inbox is not necessarily what the subject line is. You look to see who sent you something, right? So whoever sent it, if it's a friend of yours or somebody that you really like, then you check out the subject line. Or it might be vice versa, but whoever sent it typically carries more weight than the subject line. Subject line. The whole purpose is to get you to open the email. The first sentence of the email is to get you to read the rest of the email. And then the purpose of the email is to get you to take action. Whether that's to, you know, it depends on the purpose of the email. But in marketing, it's kind of the same thing. When we're doing ads on Facebook and Instagram, we're not trying to sell them on your services, we're trying to sell them on coming in for an appointment, right? We're trying to walk them down the path. And for Carl Candy, our goal is to reach out in your community and find your ideal patient and bring them as absolutely close to you as we can to make that decision. Like, if they're walking down this, you know, this patient journey, we're getting them specific videos out in front of them so they start to know, like, and trust, you know, what you do, how you do it, why you do it. Then they see this retargeting offer, new patient offer, they respond to these offer, they want to come in, you send them some, some type of pre appointment content that really helps get them kind of sold on what it is that you guys do. Like, we want to do everything we can. So whenever they come in, in their minds, they know you're going to be their chiropractor, right? They, they know that this isn't like, maybe this is going to work. Like, we want to do everything we can to where it's so easy for you to get them. You do your day one, day two, they're accepting care. Like, we want to deliver quality new patients and with an aica, we get to do that. So going back to what I was saying, we don't necessarily. Just because we can train this with all this information, we really don't want to. If this is going to be like your front desk ca as an example, right? If you're aica, if you just want it to get people booked and then follow up with them to make sure they're coming in for their appointment, like, then we want to limit the information we give it. We just want to give it enough information to be able to answer A few questions and get them in the door. Right. We want to walk them down that path. But I think this is one of the greatest tools that we have available, is being able to do this. One of the first offices we tried this with was one of our clients. Been with us for quite some time, and within the first four hours that we had everything active on their account. The aica. I'm still getting used to saying that, but their AICA booked three appointments on their. On their calendar. Three. It did it by itself. Their team didn't have to stop what they were doing and respond. They didn't have to call anybody. Like, it did it all on its own. And it's phenomenal. That's the point. That's what we wanted to do. So going back to the question asked earlier, how many opportunities do you think you're missing right now between people going to your website, speed to lead? Right? Your team not being able to follow up with people quick enough. This is where having an AICA comes in. It solves all those issues, you know, especially if, you know, we're able to set this up as a chat, excuse me, a chat widget on your website. So they can ask questions there, but let's say they don't ask questions there, but they still went to your website. We're going to make sure the tracking pixel is set up properly to where the next time they get on Instagram or Facebook, they're seeing some of your content, right? And they're like, oh, my goodness, this person's everywhere. You know, because I was just on their site and now I'm seeing their content they're making on social media, and then they see a new patient offer, and then the AICA takes over and gets them booked. So there's several different ways this works. And like I said, it can work on Instagram, Facebook, text messages. It is phenomenal for a Lazarus campaign or like a patient reactivation. You know, that's something that we help people with all the time. It just works. Phenomenal. But now being able to not just send out these text messages to an inactive database, we can do it with AI, where it's automatically in the background getting people booked on your calendar. And you don't have to think about it. It's working automatically. Your team doesn't have to stop and call these people. They're just seeing more and more people booked on the calendar. The. The AICA is following up with them, you know, get. Making sure they're confirmed. It just works, you know, works seamlessly. So let's see, I've got some notes here on which we're already, we're about 30 minutes into our little coffee date, if you will, today. You know, I would love for you, let's say that you've listened to this and you're intrigued. Register for the webinar or, you know, go and watch the replay of the webinar. If you're watching this a couple of weeks after it came out, it's chiralkandi.com AI webinar. Excuse me. Or go to. Go to. You can actually even go to the same, same link. There's, you can go to chirocandy.com there's a chat widget on there. Start interacting with our chat widget. Like just, you know, just play around with it and try to break it right. See, just see what it's like. Ask it questions about Chiro Candy. But you know what's gonna happen? It's gonna answer those questions and it's gonna try to get you to book a call with our team and maybe that's exactly what you need to do. If you can see or maybe you want to demo this a little bit more, schedule a call with our team and we can actually hop on Zoom and they'll actually walk through and show you. We'll test this out and even let you ask it some questions and actually do an actual AI demo. And just imagine what this would look like for your office. We're excited because we are going to be offering this at a pretty low price. We will have a build fee and then a monthly fee attached to it if this is something you're wanting to do standalone. But if you're one of our clients, if you're one of our Chiral Candy clients, that's going to be included. You know, you're going to get one of these chatbots included with your services with us. You know, if you're doing Facebook and Instagram or you're doing TikTok, it's going to be included at no additional charge because we really want to help deliver quality patients and we want to make that as easy as possible.
