195: God's Original Design for Wealth with Billy Sticker & Myron Golden

Dr. Myron Golden argues that wealth is part of God's original design, not a sin. He points to gold appearing eight times in Genesis linked to God's people, and teaches entrepreneurs to scale through four offer types: lead-generation, core product, premium value, and continuity. Golden has coached 13-15 entrepreneurs to make $1 million in a single day.

You are in for a treat on this episode. I recently interviewed one of my mentors, Myron golden, for a different podcast and it was just packed full of such great value that I know that you are going to love it. So enjoy. You are listening to Chirogandy, the podcast of sweet chiropractic success. Here's your host, Billy Sticker. All right, guys, welcome to another episode, the blessed entrepreneur. Some of you guys are going to be watching this on video, some on audio, but I am here live in studio. In studio with my business coach, Dr. Myron Golden. How are you doing, sir?
I am doing utterly fantastic. How are you doing, brother?
Great. We talk about every time we see each other, we compare our beards.
My beard doesn't compare to his. I have beard envy is really what happens.
So he is just phenomenal at what he does. And you guys know that my heart is this message to the church, that God is looking for people to be faithful with their finances, that he can download business ideas. And Myron has a great ministry background, unbelievably successful. He coaches hundreds and hundreds, if not thousands of entrepreneurs on a lot of what we talk about. So I wanted to have him on. Would you mind just starting with a little bit of your ministry background? Like what first got you?
So I came to Christ when I was 16 years old, and as a 16 year old, I had never read a book in my life that was not a comic book or a karate book. I was in the martial arts and I had never read a book other than a karate book or a comic book. Well, it was another young man at our school, Stan Harris, at our high school, who led me to Christ. And a couple weeks later, he says, you know, you need to start reading the Bible now, don't you? I was horrified. I was thinking this big, thick, ginormous book with little bitty print, two columns, no pictures. I got to start reading that. But I was already all in, right? And I knew, excuse me. I knew when I got saved, I was not going to play with God like I'm going to. If I'm going to be a Christian, I'm not going to be almost a Christian, sort of a Christian trying to be a Christian. I'm going to be like, all in. He's God. I am his to do whatever he wants to with me. So if I got to start reading the Bible now, I got to start reading the Bible. Well, I started reading the Bible expecting to find out about religion because that's what I thought the Bible was about. But I Didn't find that in there. It literally jumped off the page with meaning to me. Practical things I could do to make my life better as a 16 year old, 17 year old, 18 year old. And so I started putting it to the test and said, well, if you do this, this will happen. I'm like, let's see. And sure enough, exactly as God laid it out, that's exactly what happened. I remember one summer, no kids were able to find a summer job, right? And the Bible says, if you'll tithe and you'll give an offering, God will bless your finances. I had three jobs that summer when other kids could not find one. Like I didn't have three job offers. I had three jobs at the same time when other kids couldn't find one. That's just one. There's another verse in Proverbs, chapter 15 where it says, a soft answer turneth away wrath, but grievous words stir up anger. And so I've got six brothers. We did not always get along. And so I said, well, I'm going to see if that works, right? Next time one of my brothers comes in screaming at me, I'm going to see if like I can de. Escalate him with a soft answer. And it worked. Like it was almost freaky. I was like, oh, this Bible is onto something. And so I just, instead of reading the Bible because I was supposed to, instead of reading the Bible because they said, well, this is what Christians do, I was literally reading the Bible, for lack of a better term, so I could learn life hacks, so I can make my life better.
Instruction manual?
Yeah. An instruction manual. Yeah, to make my life better. Like even more than an instruction manual, more like a life improvement manual. If you will do these things, your life will be better. And even if your life gets harder, it's still better when you apply the scripture. And so that was the thing that blew me away. And Since I was 16 years old, now I'm 16 in reverse. I'm 61. Right.
Happy birthday.
Thank you.
Just a couple of days ago.
Just a couple days ago. Yeah. And I'm still blown away by how many things I find in the scripture that make my life better. And I've been reading it since I was 16. And it's like every time I read it, it's like a brand new book. So the living, it is the living word and it reads you while you read it.
I think it's great you made that comment about, you know, a soft answer. It just reminded me whenever you were telling the Story about your brothers. When our kids were younger, we've got three kids and I normally say we have two great kids and then this other one, but let them kids figure out which one's the other one. But no, we got all great kids. But when they were younger and they would be, you know, pitching a fit.
Or whatever.
I would hold them and I would whisper in their ear because they have to quit whining. Like, they have to be quiet to hear, to pay attention to what you would say.
That's so good, bro.
And I would just kind of whisper and I would normally say, this is not how we act. If you keep it up, you will get a spanking, it will burn, you will cry. That's what I would say.
And they're like.
That would stop it. Because I remember one of them one time, you know, I was like, that's it, you're going to spank. It's like, well, is it going to burn?
Absolutely.
Absolutely.
It's going to be like fire on your hiney.
Yes.
Yeah.
Yes. And fortunately, we didn't have to do that very often. But yeah, I didn't even realize that that was actually biblical. Yeah.
And if you look the opposite side of that is in James chapter one, where it says, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. Why? For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. So it's the exact opposite. Yeah.
So true.
It's amazing.
So true. So you not only were being blessed, but you're also working hard. Right. The Bible also says if a man.
Don'T work, he shouldn't eat. Yes, sir.
So you were eating well. And what really sparked this entrepreneurial.
Well, even before that, I was confused by a lot of the sermons I heard when I was growing up because I would hear preachers preach against money, but they had more money than we did. So now I'm like, well, how much? Like, at what point does money become too much money? Like, at what point is it too much? And it has to be the amount the other person has. Right. Not the amount that I have. Right. And. And so I was in full time ministry for a while. I was an assistant pastor for many, many years. I was a senior pastor for one year, was a traveling evangelist for probably five, six, seven years and worked in the bus ministry and youth ministry and all these different ministries. And I was kind of confused by when you're in ministry, why everybody expects you to be poor. And you know, God, you, we'll keep them broke, you keep them humble. Kind of attitude. But that's not Bible. Right. When Moses took up an offering in the wilderness, like the elders had to come and say, hey, Moses, tell the people to stop giving. It is enough and too much. When was the last time that happened at somebody else's church? And the reason that happened is because God's people were blessed with financial abundance.
And then we have, you know, these churches. One of the things that I talk about sometimes, and I really believe the pastors mean well, but you'll hear, hey, we gave, you know, my wife and I committed X amount to the building fund. And then the next week we got a check in the mail from the insurance company we weren't even expecting.
Right?
Well, that's grace, which is good 100. But God does not want to sustain you on grace. And then what happens when somebody else gives and they don't, and they don't.
Get a check from the insurance company? Right.
You know, and so it's. I just think the church needs to do a better job teaching people it is okay to be blessed.
It is. It's really interesting that you say that because miracles do happen, right? And miracles, though, are not rinsable and repeatable. They're not predictable, Right. They happen when they happen. They happen when God makes them happen. Right. But principles are rinseable and repeatable.
They're rinsible and repeatable, right?
So if I apply a principle, I can predetermine the outcome by the input of the principle. And if I, if I do, if I apply a principle, it can't do the, the action some of the time. It has to like, produce the outcome 100% of the time. And the Bible is a book filled with principles. There are promises for miracles, but there are principles for practical application. And we have, like, it seems like the church has, has ignored the principles of what we are supposed to do and zoned completely in on the miracles which God's supposed to do. But the reality is God won't do our part and we can't do his part. So I should work as if it all depends on me and trust and pray as if it all depends on God. And I think at the end of that road, there's going to be something beautiful.
That's great. One of the things you talk about is first mentions and in Genesis, you know, I was going to. When you first started saying you were scared to pick up the Bible, I was going to say, yeah, you probably started reading in Genesis. But I know you, I love Genesis. You love Genesis.
It's my Favorite book in the Bible.
I thought that through before I said it. That wouldn't have had the impact that I was.
But I actually started in Proverbs.
Yeah. Which is a good place to start. Absolutely. But why don't you talk about some of the key principles in Genesis that you picked up?
Yeah. So.
And even like we talk about, which I guess was Genesis 2 when gold was first mentioned.
Sure.
But yeah.
So first of all. So first of all, I'm going to even step back a little bit further than that. The idea that Christians are supposed to be poor is a satanic idea. That's a satanic idea because Satan is a God of lack. In fact, I'm not going to prove it right now. But the reality is the very first temptation in the history of the world was a temptation to focus on lack. I don't have time, like, I don't have time to prove that to people.
I heard you teach that before.
Yeah, it's remarkable. But what I will say is that Satan is a God of lack. So this idea that Christians are supposed to be poor is a satanic idea that got promoted heavily through Greek mythology and then Roman mythology and then Catholicism. And then when the Reformers came out of the Catholic Church because they found out that salvation was by grace through faith and not by works, they got salvation. Right. But they kept a lot of that other Catholic y. And I'm not being disrespectful to Catholics. I'm just saying a lot of that Catholicy poverty conscious doctrine that is not biblical. It's very Catholic actually. And a lot of stuff that's practiced in Protestantism is Catholic and has its roots in Roman mythology and Greek mythology. It's so fascinating. If you ever go to Greece, like they have a God for everything. Right.
Going in August.
Okay. So it's going to be an amazing trip. They have a God for everything. They have a God of poverty and they have a God of wealth. They have a God of victory and the God of defeat. It's just, it's insane. Like what people will do to not acknowledge and yield to the true and only God. But anyway, so that's. We have to understand this idea that Christians are supposed to be poor is not a Bible doctrine. So let's start there. So what is God's original design for wealth or for money? And for wealth we have to understand that if we are going to properly interpret the Bible, we must apply the law of context. Which means I have to know what the verses are saying before the text, after the text and my understanding of the text can't contradict either one of those or any other passage in Scripture. That's the law of context, the law of definitions. I have to look up the definition of every word in a passage and in its original language or I do not understand the text. If I don't know what the words mean, I can't know what the word means. And then lastly, the one you talked about, the law of first mentioned, because God does not change. He's the same yesterday, today, and forever. However he mentions anything in scripture, that's his original design for that thing. Well, in Genesis, I was thinking, I was meditating on the Scripture, which I do fairly often, and I was thinking about gold in the book of Genesis, thinking about the law of first mention, I thought, huh, I wonder how many times gold is mentioned in the book of Genesis. And I thought, well, it's got to be in there 500 times. And I went and got my strong concordance, and it's in Genesis exactly eight times. And then that's mind blowing. But the eight times it's mentioned, all eight times, it's always mentioned in conjunction with God's people. Now that's fascinating, because if gold, every time it's mentioned in the first book in the Bible, is mentioned in conjunction with God's people, that's going to lead me to believe that there's a very good possible possibility that God put wealth on the earth for his people. Okay, so the first time it's mentioned, mentioned in Genesis, chapter 2, verse 11 and 12, there's gold in the Garden of Eden. It says there's gold in that land, and the gold in that land is good. Now, there were two people in the Garden of Eden, right? What was their relationship to each other?
Husband and wife.
Husband and wife. How many stores were in the Garden of Eden?
None.
None. How much did food cost? It was free. How many stores were there? Zero. But yet God put gold there. And he didn't just put it there, but he told us it was there. And he didn't just tell us it was there. He told us it was there and he told us it was good. Why? Now, if you're watching this and that question, why are all these things true? Doesn't come to your mind. You're not thinking about the text? Because I want to know, if there's nothing for sale and there are no stores and there are two people that are married to each other and there's nothing to buy and everything's free, why do we need gold? Because God wants us to know that opulence and abundance are natural in the environment for the children of the king.
So good.
It is so good. And so the first time we see gold mentioned, it's mentioned as providence for God's people provide in advance. He put it there before he put them there. By the way, God put your gold here before he put you here. And he put my gold here before he put me here. He put our assignment here before he put us here to find and fulfill the assignment. So the second time it's mentioned, it's mentioned as a possession by God's people. It says in Genesis, chapter 13, verse number two, it says, and Abram was very rich in cattle and silver and gold. So I love the fact that it didn't just tell us he was rich, but it told us how rich he was. He was very rich. And it didn't just tell us how rich he was. It told us how he was rich. He was very rich in cattle and silver and gold. Because God knew that some Christian person with a poverty consciousness was saying, well, that doesn't mean he had money. It just means he had a rich heritage and a godly heritage. No, it says cattle, silver and gold. So. So we can't get it twisted right. The third time it's mentioned, Genesis Chapter number 25, it's talked, it's shown as proof of God's blessing on God's people. When Eleazar went to find a bride for Isaac and he gave Rebekah's mother and brothers gifts that included gold to prove to her that God's blessing was on her master. And her master was about to give all of this wealth to his son. That's who he was looking for a wife for. The next to the last time it's mentioned, it's mentioned in Genesis, chapter 41, verse 42. And this is the only time in Genesis you will find somebody who's not a child of God having gold. And that is when God, when the scripture says that Pharaoh took the chain off his neck, put it on Joseph's neck, and took the gold ring off his finger and put it on Joseph's finger, that shows it as a provision for God's people. So God put wealth on the earth for his people. And if that's not enough in itself, there's a verse, Ecclesiastes, that says this very same thing I just said, and it says, for God giveth to the man that is good in his sight. By the way, the theme of the book of Ecclesiastes is this. If you live your life for life under heaven. You have wasted your life. That's the theme of the book of Ecclesiastes. It's written by a man who in his youth was completely yielded to God. In the middle of his life, he backslid, rebelled against God, went off after false gods, married heathen women, and just totally digressed. And then at the end of his life, he realized what a fool he had been. Even though he was the wisest man who had ever lived, he was the most foolish man who ever lived. And then he repented and came back. And at the end of the book of Ecclesiastes, he says, let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter. In other words, I'm going to sum up this entire book of Ecclesiastes in, like, one thing. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter. Fear God and keep his commandments. This is the whole duty of man. Wow. So he figured it out. So the theme of the book of Ecclesiastes, you'll notice that it says this is vanity and vexation of spirit. And also it says under the sun. Under the sun. Under the sun is a mistranslation. By the way, it's actually under heaven. Okay, under the sun was changed. It was changed under the sun through Catholicism, because they worship the sun God. But anyway, that's a whole other conversation for a different day. So the Romans worshiped the sun God, not the Catholics, but the Romans worshiped the sun God. So. So what happened is he said that if you live your life for life under heaven, you have wasted your life. That's the theme of the book of Ecclesiastes. So he's not confused. And here's what he said. In Ecclesiastes, chapter 2, verse 26, God giveth to the man that is good in his sight, both wisdom and knowledge and joy. That's pretty good things to get right. But to the sinner he didn't say, and to the sinner, because if he was going to say, and to the sinner, he'd give him something similar. He said, but which means he's going to give him something different. But to the sinner, he giveth, travail, hard labor, to gather and to heap up. What is that? That's called the hustle and grind. Why? That he may give to him that is good before God. I didn't put that in the Bible. It was in there. It means something, right? God put wealth on the earth for his people. Satan knows he cannot keep God's blessing from God's people. Because God is a God who cannot lie. And he told us that we are the seed of Abraham by faith in Christ Jesus. Right. So Satan knows he can't keep God's blessing from us. So what he does, since he can't block our blessing from us, he mental blocks us from our blessing so we don't receive it.
Yeah. I think it's so easy for believers to just remain comfortable and they see somebody having success even if they don't judge them. Which because, I mean, let's face it, Christians are not judgmental.
Not at all. I've never seen a judgmental.
But even if they aren't judgmental, they still sometimes think, yeah, but that's not for me. And I get it's almost like an excuse to not even try 100%.
But it's so interesting that you would say that because if you ask the average Christian, how much money would you like to make? Most of them would say, or many of them would say, I don't know if it would be most. Many of them would say, I don't need to make that much, just enough to be comfortable. But if you ask them how long they want to live, they wouldn't say, I don't know, not that long. Just long enough to be comfortable. Right. How smart would you like your children to be? I don't know. Just smart enough to be comfortable. How healthy would you like to be? Eh, you know, healthy enough to be comfortable. How good would you like your relationships to be? Eh, Just good enough to be comfortable. We don't say that about any other aspect of our lives.
Wow, that's so true.
Right. We want to max out every area of our lives and then when it comes to finances, we slam on the brakes and say, not that I don't want it to ruin me, because too many people have attended what I call attended Satan's Bible study. And here's what I mean by that. Satan misquoted the word of God to Eve to tempt her in the Garden of Eden. He misquoted the word of God and misused the word of God when he tempted Jesus in the wilderness. If you think Satan is not going to twist Scripture to make you confused about what God is saying and what he has said, you don't understand how it works. Because the apostle Paul said in Second Corinthians, chapter 11, verse 3, he said, I fear lest by any means that as the serpent beguiled Eve or tricked her through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that's in Christ it sounds to me like Satan does not need a new toolbox because the One he had 6,000 years ago is still working fine today.
Yeah, that's so true. So one of the things that you specialize in.
Yes.
Is really helping people think on a whole new level.
Yes.
Right. So, you know, as an entrepreneur, I remember being so excited when our business hit million a year and then 2 million a year and now we're on pace to do 3 million a year. However, in your coaching group that I'm a part of, I feel so small being in this group of people.
That's funny. Definitely not small.
Well, because. Do you want to kind of share some of your. The results from.
So last year we probably gave as awards 13 to 15, I'd have to count. But somewhere between 13 and 15 million dollar day awards. And already, hang on, I don't know.
Did you say a day?
Yeah, a million dollar day. Which means that business owner generated a million dollars in revenue in a day. Right. And we gave.
Not a year.
No, not a year.
Not a lifetime.
Not a lifetime.
Not like in just 24 hours.
24 hours. And we have some who've done it in less than that. But, but a million dollar day award, like that's not, I mean it's only 13 to 15 people. But if you think about it from this perspective, you take any college in America, like out of every hundred and let's say out of every 300 people that are in graduate from that college, how many of them have ever had a million dollar day? And here's gonna be the answer. A very small percentage, right? And last year we had maybe 300, maybe just under 300 coaching clients altogether. And out of that 15, 13, 15 of them, a million dollar day and 35 to 40 hundred thousand dollar day awards, like in a day, $100,000 in revenue in a day. And I know some people are thinking, yeah, but that sounds like get rich quick. But the reality is we're not going to be here long enough to get rich slow. Like life is very short, right? So wealth has a need for speed. In fact, one of the principles I teach is that wealth is measured more in time than it is in money. And I asked the question, if you make a million dollars, are you rich? And the answer is it depends. Because if you make 25,000 a year and you work for 40 years, you made a million dollars, are you rich? And the answer is probably not. But if you make that same million dollars in a year now you're rich. Or if you make that you're 40 times richer than the person who makes 25,000 a year. Not because you made a different amount of money, but you made it period of time. If you make a million dollars a month, you're 480 times richer than the person who makes a million dollars over 40 years. And you're 12 times richer than the person who makes a million dollars a year. Why? Not because you change the amount, but because you change the frequency.
Yep, that's good. So we've had $200,000 days.
Let's go. That's what's up.
One was almost 200, but we're still working on this. For those of you watching the video, that's what.
That's the Million Dollar Day Award. That's the Million Dollar Day Award.
But what I love about that is everything you teach. It's not about ever taking advantage of anybody. It's not about being greedy.
It's about loving people, serving them at the absolute highest level. 100%. 100%. Because that's what people are going to pay you for. They're going to pay you because you bring something to them that's more valuable than the money they pay you. Yep. So that's. And that's. That's what I believe. That's why all of us are here. You know, it's not good for a man to be alone. Yes, he needed a wife, but he didn't just need a wife. He also needed somebody to build his house. He also needed somebody to build his car. He also needed somebody to pump gas at the gas station. The more people in a community, the easier it is for that entire community to thrive.
So, yeah, that's so good. So one of the things that I teach whenever I was in sales, I was a sales manager for a while. We used like the justice scales, like the weighted scales. And you know, scripture says that an unjust balance, an unjust weight, is an abomination to God. And so one of the things we would say is when somebody says no, all they're saying is their money weighs more than whatever it is you're offering.
Mmm. So good, bro. That's it. That's great.
When they're saying no, they're just saying, no, my money weighs more.
Right.
But when you start stacking enough value, stack enough value, stack enough. Once you tip the scale, and especially if you can, hey, if it's gonna be an unjust weight, be it in their favor.
Exactly.
They will gladly pay you 100% whenever they're. You even have some examples of this. I've never heard you use the scales like that, but you do talk about.
You will hear me use it, though. You will be hearing me use it.
So the first couple of times you have to listen.
I gotta give you credit.
Just two.
I'll give you credit every time.
I'll give you credit every time. But that's what it is. You know, we watch the. You know, but wait, there's more. Yeah, but wait, there's more. And then you're like, maybe I do need some more Ginsu steak knives. And then it gets to be like, why would I not give them this money? And so that's really what you teach, too. It's like, if I can give you. If I could sell you this hundred dollar bill for a dollar, would you.
Do it every day? All day, eight days a week and twice on Sunday?
Yeah, if I could sell you.
If I could.
We do this all the way, which I'll let you. I'm not going to steal your thunder on how you do that, but that's what you're doing. It's like you're creating so much value that it's such a blessing to the other people. All of your students are making such a huge impact in the world.
And.
And you know, we're called to love God and love people.
That's it. That's the name of the game.
Nobody's staying in bed at night thinking of ways to give you money.
Exactly.
They're thinking of their problems.
Right.
And if you can help solve their problems, they will gladly pay you whatever.
You charge, as long as it's in their mind. More valuable than the money they're paying you.
Yep. That's it.
Good stuff, man.
Good stuff, man. I really appreciated you being on today. Anything in closing?
Yeah.
I'll talk about your challenges before we wrap up.
Okay. Yeah. So what I would say is become a student of the Word. Become a student of the Bible. Like do word studies in the Bible, like memorize scripture so that when you read something in one place, it can remind you of a different scripture. Because the best commentary on the Bible is the Bible. Right. And the scripture says he that is spiritual compares spiritual things with spiritual. In other words, I compare this passage of scripture with this passage of scripture to make sure that my understanding of this passage is correct. And become a student of the Word of God. And when Billy gives you some instructions, I'd follow it. He's not wrong and he's not making this stuff up as he goes along. He got it from the Word. There's been so much that has been missed in Protestantism, modern day Christianity, which I sometimes call churchianity because people get their doctrine from the church and not from the word of God. Yeah, that's good. Is this whole idea of I need to be looking in the Bible to find out how to be a better husband, a better father, a better neighbor, a better employer, a better employee, a better business owner. I need to be searching in scripture how I can maximize the influence God has on my life because that's the only way it's going to magnify and multiply the influence I have on other people's lives. In a good way.
Yeah. That's so good. So you've got your book. There should be a copy of it. Yes, Ryan's there if you want to talk about your book and we can talk about.
So this book is called Boss Moves. I mean it sounds kind of like arrogant, pompous boss moves. Well, boss is an acronym that stands for business optimization, success secrets. So Boss Moves is literally two hours of coaching that I did with a group of entrepreneurs. I get paid $25,000 an hour for coaching. It's a book that is a two hour coaching session in a book. So instead of having to pay me $50,000, literally, you get my business growth strategies and my scaling strategies in about 170 pages. I think it's about 170 something pages. 187 pages, I think something like that. I don't have my glasses on, so. 67, 87, 57. One of those. But this book could change your business. We've got a new inner circle student, by the way. He read this book back in November and since November, from the principles he learned in this book, he's made over $800,000 from a forty dollar book or thirty dollars book. So that's the book as far as the challenge is concerned. We have a challenge called the Make More offers challenge. And we teach entrepreneurs the four different types of offers that they need to make to scale their business to the next level. Lead generation offers, core product offers, premium value offers, and continuity offers. When you take those four things and you master the components of each, your business has to grow. It can't sit still.
So how do they find out more information about the challenge?
Yeah, they can just go to the challenge link. In fact, you can just give them. What's the name? Blessed Entrepreneur lifestyle. Is it BlessedEntrepreneur.com?
Yeah.
Okay, so why don't you just go to BlessedEntrepreneur.com challenge and get your challenge tickets, and we can go from there.
Yep, that'll work, because that's gonna be an affiliate link.
That's gonna be an affiliate link. That way, I can pay Billy for sending you to my challenge, because I think if he referred you to me, it's only fair that I compensate him.
See? So thank you so much.
My pleasure, brother.
I love the impact that you're making in the community, that you're helping people like me increase our impact in our community. So thank you so much. 100%.
My pleasure, brother. Been a fun interview, too, bro. Good. And I'm sitting here figuring out how to get my beard like yours, but it's going to come to me. Thanks. All right. Good fun, D.
