Billy Sticker uses a stale coffee pot as a metaphor for the mind: just as fresh water clears old coffee, feeding yourself positive thoughts and experiences gradually displaces negativity. What you let in shapes what stays.

So we have to think on good things. I've used this analogy before of, let's say that you're— you have a coffee pot, not a Keurig, but like an old-time coffee pot, clear, but you can see there's coffee in it from yesterday. For whatever reason, you can't pour it out. It's just— but you have to get clear water in there. You know, this kind of represents our mind, right? It may be all dirty. Well, how do we— how do we get it clear? Well, you got to start putting good stuff in. So you put it under the faucet, and at first it starts to clean up a little bit, but then the more and more good stuff you put in there, there's just not room for any of the negative, for any of the other stuff, right? So we have to be intentional about letting stuff in.
