He contrasts a "carrot season" of personal abundance, when celebrating others feels easy, with the harder waiting season where envy takes over. God doesn't give what's fair, he argues, and that unfairness is something to be grateful for.
And I don't understand why you did it for them, but you haven't done it for me. Why them? I did this. I do this. Why does it get to happen for them? Do you ever find yourself getting upset when you hear of a blessing somebody else has? Yes. And it's typically when you're in this carrot season, right? Because when things are going good for you, you're happy for everybody else. But it's in the waiting where we find ourselves. It's not fair, God. Well, thank God we don't get what's fair, right? Because we would all be, we would all be in trouble.
