35-Minute MetCon Mini Band Workout - LIVE with Amy

Amy and Elise lead a 35-minute metabolic conditioning workout using mini bands. The session covers warm-ups, upper body, lower body, and core work with casual commentary and a live class feel.
Two, three. Happy Saturday. Hello, everybody. Welcome. It's chaos here today. We are gonna work hard with mini bands. Kai's showing you the mini band. Hello, everybody. Hey. Let's say hi to people. Say hey, Andrea. Hey, Kelly. Hi, Kelly. Hey, Melinda and Lynn and David. Lori Lo. Hello. Hello. Woo. Craziness here. Amanda is here. Arlene, Alozia. Sandra in Kentucky. Oh, I hope it's a lease. It's a lease. It's Elise. It's elite. Okay. Okay. Can you guys go with Daddy? Go with Daddy. Say bye. We love you. We'll see you after the workout, okay? Oh, yeah. Say bye to your fans. Say bye to your fans, Kai. Okay. What are you doing? Oh, I know. You can come in in the end. Okay. Ok. Oh, I'm sorry. She put on her workout clothes and everything. Welcome. I can step out and. No. Welcome, everybody. Hey. Amanda is here with her daughter. Heather is joining from Texas. Jessica is joining in Chicago. Fun fact. Elise and I met in Chicago. We both used to live there. That's where we met and the rest is history. Now we live in la. Elise is here. You guys get excited. I know. Everybody is so. Man. It's so much quieter once they're gone, right? I know, right? Oh, now that's your dog. That's your dog. So I had my second little skin surgery. I'm okay, don't worry. But I had that yesterday, so I'm not really going to be doing any upper body. Elise is going to do all the good stuff. Oh, that's my dog. That's my dog. And we'll let dogs in in the end anyway, so we're working with minivans today. If you don't have a mini band, we are going to give you a dumbbell option. We will show you. I won't lift any weights, but Elise will show you. So you will have. Will have options if you have a mini band. We're gonna have fun with it. So we're gonna get started. Kurt will come in and get our timer started. But toss those bands out of the way. The dogs. That might be dory. Is that dory? She's like, you're working out, right? So you guys love Elise from past videos. She's a lot of fun. Kurt is managing all the kids and the production and the dogs. All right, let's go ahead and start moving. We'll start warming up. It's gonna be so loud in there between the two kids and the dogs. Roll your shoulders. I'm not gonna do it. I got you. Kelly is in rainy Michigan. Well, we're getting a little break from the rain, which is nice. Very nice. Right? I know. Just take it side to side, shift your weight. You can open up those arms. Oh, my goodness. Doggies. And then reach down, reach up. So warming up the body. You could be wearing shoes today. Elise and I are going Pilates style with bare feet. And then let's step out into that side lunge right through here. Once we're finally in our new gym space. You'll be back. Yeah, it is. We're so close. We just gotta get some paint in there. And then right through here. Let's roll those hips. And a little squat. Yep, here we go. And squat. Roll and squat. So we're gonna done metcon today. Just like our dumbbell and our kettlebell and our body weight we had the last few weeks. We will have round one, 40 seconds of work. Round two, 30 seconds of work. So we' and then let's just hinge down and then bring it up. Little stretch. I'm not going to do too much range of motion. Yeah, stretch. When solidarity. I'll match you. Yes, you do. You can go bigger. And then we're going to inchworm it out. I am not going to do this, but Elise is going to do it. Walk it out. Yeah. And walk it back. It's a warm up. It's a warm up. Feel free to add your flare, as Elise always does. You don't. Look at you. Overachiever. You don't have to do a push up. You just walk it out. You can if you want, but I love it. Overachiever. One more. Let's just hold this one out. And can you press up to a little down, dog? Just bring your hips up to get a little stretch. Right. And back. Did you? Well, I saw you at Pilates yesterday. Sure did. Yeah. And just a little pedal of your feet. Feet. Oh, no. Kurt, where did our feed go? Hopefully we're still going, but we can't see the people. Oh, oh. And then walk it back. Bring it up. Let's take one big step forward. One arm down, one arm up. I'm not gonna do too much of that. How are you? I'm good. I missed you forever. Let's drop that knee a little bit. You can reach the arm too, if you want, but I'm not going to with my other side right there. Yeah, we totally need these pedicures. Yes, we do. And so back in, we were commenting on our. Well, the kids were on our. I can't reach up. Reached under and up. We don't see each other this way. Hi. Drop that knee. A little rotation if you need to. Yeah. I think the last time we we went was for our friend Angela's birthday. We kind of only go for birthdays. Somebody needs to have a birthday so we can get a pedicure. Good. And then bring it up, Round it up. All right. Little tap and reach across. I'm gonna keep this arm here. It's doing a little bit better today. It was super painful yesterday, but we'll get there. And then reach over your head. I'm not gonna do it, but Elise will. With style. All right, so, yeah. High five. Now. I'm gonna think about that every time. Hamstrings, watch that wall back there. All right, so we're gonna start the way we're gonna do it with a mini band, because mini bands are a little bit more work to switch from upper to lower. Right. And then take it to those knees. We're gonna start with all upper. We'll have a full circuit of upper, a full circuit of lower, full circuit of core, and maybe a bonus move. Who knows? A little stretch right through here. So we are. So that way we don't have to switch as often. So grab a medium. Medium of the. Start this band, and we are going to start. I'm actually not going to really do it, but I'll show you on one side, alternating here to here. All right, so the knees are optional. Core is engaged. You're just going to pull. Think more about the pull down, like pulling the elbow in. Wrap that core, side knee if you want. 40 seconds. Let's do it. Here we go. And if it doesn't feel like enough resistance, you want to get a thicker band. There you go. Right. I already started with this one. It seems right. That's good. But you want to think about that one at the top, holding nice and solid. And then the one pulling down. Really think again. That pull down into. Into your back. Squeezing here. And then a little side knee for a little extra abs. 15 seconds, breathe. There we go. 10 to go. Yeah. We got 5, 4, 3, 2, and breathe. Good. Now let's get a little buys and tries. So this going to be a pulse. We're going to go 20 seconds. 20 seconds. So hold at the top here, hold at the bottom here. We're going to pulse down with tricep, pulse up with bicep. So it looks like this. And we got one side for 20. Yeah, exactly. Here we go. Pulse, impulse. Oh, there we go. Now we got our feet. Elizabeth is saying hi And Laura, Amber just finished a nerf gun war with the kids. Sounds like my house. Tamika and Terrence are saying hi. Brielle, Lori. Oh, she wants Maya to work out. I know. Don't we all? Oh, I missed the switch. Here we go. Sorry. Now we gotta go 25. 25 on both sides. So little pulses. If you don't feel it, take your arms out a little bit more in front. Again, I'm not going to do very much, but. And kind of keep my shoulder out of it. Right like this? Yeah. You feel a little burn here? A little burn. Okay, good. Good. Five, four, three, two, one. And breathe. All right, so I'm not gonna do this one, but you are. Let's put it here. We're gonna take it to a plank position. So join Elise down in the plank. High plank. And you're gonna keep your feet and your corner core planet. But you're just taking your hands out one and then the other. Yes. Let's do it. Here we go. 40 seconds. Yep, you did. You did. Sorry. You got an extra five seconds. Overachiever. So perfect plank form hits. Hips are aligned all the way through the back. See, this is fun, because then I get to point out all of these things, and you don't have to get out very far. We're just thinking getting those shoulders, getting the back, and then, of course, getting the core working. Jessica really enjoys your facial expressions. She is an actress. You guys, we got five, four, three, two, one, breathe. All right, team, we're gonna do it all again, but only for 30 seconds. Yeah. So start up top. Grab it here. We're pulling one, and then the other. We can get a little breather for a second. Okay. Really think about that. Pull down. Yes. Do you need a tighter band? Okay. Because you're super strong, Elise. All right, all right, I'm making her go. Making her go a little heavier. Okay, here we go. So really think about your back, your shoulders, your core. 30 seconds. In three, two, one. Pull it in. Yeah. Heart rate's up. I mean, I'm not really even doing anything, and I'm feeling it squeeze. Pulling it in. So working the obliques, getting your back, and of course, getting some cardio, because we're moving quickly. That is what metcon is all about. We got five, four, three, two, one. Catch your breath. So a little spin on this one. We're actually gonna go 30 seconds each side with our buys and our tries. I'm gonna go with the baby band. So here we go. Little pulse. Remember, try to make your range of motion. A little bigger if you need it. We got 30 seconds, right? 30 seconds left. Here we go. Balls, balls. So pushing down for triceps, pulsing up for biceps. So you got to really think your bicep motion, your tricep. You can take those toes out. And if you want a little extra. You knew it was coming, right? Ballerina fully. I'm pulling down. Oh, burn. Five, four, three to. Just switch it. Just switch it. You're counting too slow. A. All right, other side. Take it here. Buys and tries. Here we go. Cassie in eastern Oregon. Livia is here. Patrick. Paula. Hello. Hello. Yes. Aaron says hello. Hello. Welcome, everybody. A little musical theater up in here. Breathe. We have 5, 4, 4, 3, 2, 2, 1. Put your band right here. Only 30 seconds. Let's get those shoulders along with some sneaky core. So down on your plank. Find your good plank position. I'm sorry, guys, I'm injured. And take those hands in and out. Here we go. And if you want a little challenge, you can go in and out and then forward and back. So come to me. Bring your hand here. Yes. And here. So side to side and then forward. Right. Little shoulder burn while this core is working hard. You never knew you could do so many things with a mini band, right? I feel like I'm looking for my glass. Wait, where's my contact? Where is it? Where is it? Where is it? 3, 2, 1. Stretch it back. Yeah. Yep, yep. Grab a sip of water. Guess what, guys? Your upper body round is over. Grab some water. Cheers. That's later tonight, but. All right, team. So how's everybody feeling? I'm sure good. I'm sure. Now you want to get that thicker band, so you want that black one. If you have one of the fabric bands, this would be a good one to use that on as well because we are going to do lower body. So we're going to start with it at mid calves. So right through here. If it slides, if it rolls, don't worry. At least she specifically didn't wear her shiny pants today. I did it. So we're gonna start with a side step squat. I actually can do all of this. It's gonna feel really good. Side step squat and down. We'll start with that. Then we're gonna take. I'm just gonna go ahead and show you everything. So it's a little close lunge. You can make. Take it halfway, little lift. Halfway, little lift. Right? So we get booty and booty and we'll get 20 seconds each side. And then we'll get 30 and 30. And then we're gonna take it down on our backs for a bridge. We'll get a little hip lift, which we love with the band. All right, 40, 40, 40 and 40. Starting here, side step and squat. Here we go. One. Yep. It doesn't matter. You can step out and in or you can do a full step. Step up to you. There we go. Yes. We have to be in sync. I was never in the dance part of musical. You did all the singing. I don't believe it. I don't believe it. Laura loves us. Hey, Jay Choco in California. Oh, Amy was afraid we're going to do all lower. Nope, nope. Oh, because I'm injured. Nope. We got upper two and we got core coming. I don't know what happened to our. Our 30 minute clock. I'll have to tell Kurt it disappeared. We might just go forever. Oh, just like that. Breathe. All right, now let's bring that band up above our knees. So this is. Yes, Jessica. Booty booty. Let's go. All right, so watch me here. If you need a little balance on the wall, take it there. But feet hip to distance apart. Little half lunge, little lift. So keep your weight forward into that front leg. And we're gonna get 20 and 20. Let's do it. Here we go. Down and lift. Right? So you do want to keep that hip distance with those legs, because then that's gonna work those abductors too, right? We get that front leg, we get quads, hamstrings, glutes, and then we get those abductors by maintaining the balance. Right? 5, 4, 3, 2. Turn around. Let's do same thing. Other side. Here we go. Down and lift. Yeah, Right. This band needs to have amber and get a dinner right here before it goes any higher. I know. I used to have a client who would be like, I feel like I'm taking my underwear on and off. Right? We got 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. All right, I can't do this, but Elise can do this. Come down on your back in that bridge position. So knees are up. You're gonna lift to the sky in the bridge, out with the knees in and take it down. Yep, here we go. 40 seconds. So I'm going to kind of simulate that from up here. There it goes. Your legs are too strong. Just so fancy. We are going to give you the pink one. Here, here, here. Let's switch. Let's switch. You. Oh, let me help you here. Cuz you're strong. That one's hard to get on, but it's going to give you the resistance you need. Oh, my God. I'm. Lift up, front up. This is gonna be a long round. Sorry, guys. Elise situated. You know, Spanx popping out. Yes. I mean, we have mostly women. You know, Spanx. Right. Gosh, I love them. Give me back my sausage bear. Listen, I don't. I lost the timer on that one, so. But let's go. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Hey, why don't you just keep that one on as you come back up? Oh, this is gonna be impossible. All right, so we're back to the top. So move it down to here. You're gonna have a very limited range of motion. You're gonna have baby steps, but that's okay. All right, we got 30 seconds here. Stepping it out in 3, 2, 1, 2. So small. I know. It's like the difference between this one and that one is a lot. Right? But we love this for lower body. Your legs are already so strong. It does. This feels like dancing at a wedding with spikes on. Oh, man. You want to move and groove, but you're so. Oh, man. Yep. We got 5, 3, 4, 3, 2, 1. Apollo says you're gonna cause me an accident. All right, bring it up above your knees. There you go. There you go. Get it, get it. Okay, this is the part that everybody's gonna remember. Suck it in. All right, so on the wall, a little bit of balance. Core engagement. Okay, ready? Half, little lift. Let's go. 30 seconds, both sides in three, two, one. Take it down. A little lift. So use that wall if you need to. No, you're like, I got this balance. And up. Push through the front one. Lift with the back one. Andrea says the challenge of this workout is all the laughing. That's right. You know, Elise is going to make you work your abs even harder because of this. We got 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Count faster. Count fast, because I'm gonna get a turn. Okay, I'm with you. Let's do it. Here we go. 30 seconds. Right here. Take it down. Little lift. I got the easy one. You did? Oh. So, guys, if you do. My favorite bands are listed in the Cop in the description, but they're the Hope Fitness ones. And you can get a set where you have a few options of these and a few options of these. I just gave you the heaviest one. There we go. We got 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. But they don't slide right. They're, like, impossible to get on. Okay, so take it down on your back. We got that bridge. One more time. If you're with me, I'm just gonna go here. I'm gonna squatted. I think I'm just gonna fall backwards. Okay, okay, okay. Up and out with the bridge. Or if you're with me, I'm just gonna squat and out. Here we go. 30 seconds. And then guess what. Lower body round is over. You might need to take these off with me. I will. I will. Just like Spanx. We've all had to have somebody help us get in those sphinx. My goodness. Laugh your abs off. Yes, Jessica, that should be our next workout together. Breathe. Hi. You could do this workout a few times a week. But a better option Jay is asking would be to follow my workout calendar so you get a mix of dumbbells and cat. Oh, my gosh. We haven't even given people an option for dumbbells, but you know what to do. Good. Really? They're good. They're good. They're good. Excuse me. Excuse me. This is what's gonna rip my stitches. Okay, grab some water, people. Good news. We're onto the core round. Oh, my God. I'm gonna give you a different one. Grab some water. All right, team. Wait. Where would it go for the core? Well, we're gonna put it on our feet for a bicycle. We're gonna put it for some planks. Yeah, you'll like it. It might fit on my feet. All right, team, so come down on your back. Let's give you your black one again. Okay. All right, so just over your feet here. Yeah, Take them out wide like a terrible Cinderella. Right, so you're gonna do a slow bicycle. And what I want you to think about is pulling in just as much as pushing out. So this little pull here, you feel that in your core? Okay. You don't have to start yet. So that's what everybody's gonna do. Then we'll move it up. We'll do a little side plank clamshell, which we love, and then we'll do a plank. And I. Kurt, I don't know how much time has passed because our. Our timer went away, at least for us. So. Okay, here we go. Let's start with our bicycle. Take it here. So push and pull. Really think about that push. You're pushing against the resistance. Resistance. You're pulling against the resistance. You're taking it nice and slow. Yeah. Right. So it makes your bicycle feel pretty awkward, but you've got all that tension, which you can wrap that core in. I'm gonna check our game clock here because. Okay, I'm sure we're good. I'm sure we're good. Chad's here for a playground, right? Right. It could swirl it. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. All right, so move it up above your knees. I can show this on one side but not the other. So watch me. First you're gonna do a little side plank lift up in the clamshell and then take it down. Yeah, you know this one. So I'm gonna do one side. Let's just do 40 each each side. Let's do it. Here we go. Up and out. In and down. So lower in between. How much? Oh, we're 20th. Oh, okay. 10 minutes ago we got this. And down. Take it up. There we go. So lifting from that lower oblique, your entire core is working. This gives us a little break from our heart rate, right? No, we lost our feet again. I think we're laughing too much. Five, four, three, two, one. Relax. Swing those legs around the other side. I'm not going to do this cuz my swing low. Sweet. Right, so I am going to do. Wait, which one did I just do? Okay, so I'm going to lift from here standing. You can also use a dumbbell if you're using a dumbbell. Here we go. Lift and lower. Up and open and down. Open and down. Get a rhythm and make it a dance move. You really would have done well in like the Jazzercise. We're too late. There we go. Now we're back up. Open. Yes. We got 10 seconds. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. All right, turn into that plank position. This time you can come on your elbows. Oh, if I can. You can leave it right there. Yes, yes. So you're in your plank position. If you want to stay with me, we're gonna keep it standing. Tap outs. Tap outs. Right, so we get those hips. If you want to take it to a plank jack, you can do that too. If you want to keep the tap outs for the 40 and then we go plank jack for the 30. That's what I would do on your elbows. So elbow plank. Bring it up into that plank position. And then you're just tapping the legs out one and then the other. Yeah, there we go. So it's gonna move again. Oh, I think his feelings are hurt. It's rolling away from me. So make sure especially towards the end of the workout, that we stay in alignment. Here you got perfect form. There you go, out and in, like hobbling over again. If you want to take it to that jack, you can. Or you can save it for a 32nd round to here we got 5, 4, 3, 2. All right, one more time. Through all of that, let's start with the bicycle. So move it down to your feet. It's already heading there. I'm going to do a little standing version. It was on its way. I'm going to do a standing version of this and just do a little march. Okay? You take it to the bicycle. 30 seconds is all we got. Team in three. Ready, two, one. Here we go. O. That's a little bit of balance standing, so maybe hold on to something. Be where you are today. Be where you are today. Mine is with stitches in my back that Maya likes to say. Mommy has a stitch. She has a stitch. Yeah. 10 seconds. Alyssa says this is really lower body Disguises Court. Yep, you're on to me, Alyssa. It's kind of an entire core workout, because what about those pull downs and. Yep, yep. Three, two, one. All right, bring it up above your knees. We're just gonna get 30 and 30 with that clamshell. So clam shell, lift, side plank. Open it up, down and down. Here we go. Up and open, down and down and shut. Lifting from the oblique. Oh, man, we're so close. We're so close. Almost done. Yeah. So close. So close. Breathe. We got five, four, three, two, one. Other side. I'm gonna do it standing. 30 seconds. Side plank, clamshell. Let's do it up. Open. And, John, I'm gonna do a little half squat yet. So remember, with clamshell, just like Elise is doing, keep your feet glued together. You want to open, you want that glute activation. Hips, you want external and internal rotation, right? Sure. That's what you were thinking. Yeah, yeah. All of it. Almost there. I'm so technical, right? 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. All right, this is your last plank Jack. Here's what I want you to do. Okay? Put it at your calves. Oh, so good. It was going that way, right? Exactly. So you can either from the plank on your elbows, do little tap outs again, or if you want to take it to that plank Jack, you can. It is 30 seconds, team. Let's do it. Three, two, one. Here we go. Out and in. Oh, man. If you're doing it, I guess I gotta do it. So you can tap or you can jack. Keep my arms in. Yes. Lots of glutes, lots of hips, outer thighs, inner thighs, lots of core, lots of cardio. Upper body working. Two. We got five, four, three, two, three. Keep that on. Why not come up and have a sip of water? It's Saturday. We gotta have a bonus move. So how about we get everything working? Ah, well, that bonus Move is coming later. All right, so two bands. Get your lighter band. This one can be above your knees. And we're just gonna go double step as we push out for triceps. Also getting the back and shoulders working. And then double step to here. So I'm gonna do one side and then not the other side. So we got one minute, so it makes sense. Keep it here. Nice and tight. Elbow. It's extension for triceps. Biceps are resisting. Back and shoulders. Lots of glutes, lots of heart rate. Let's do it. Last minute. Here we go. Two steps and a push. And then two steps and a push. This is all we're doing, guys. I know you thought I was gonna make you, like, drop down into a plank. I did. But we already did a bunch of planks. Yeah, we did. And here, take it. I know you gotta come here and side. And if you really want the challenge, just stay low the whole time, because I know you really love the challenge. Keeping the elbows up high to keep your back and shoulders working. How we feeling? Done. Almost done. 15 seconds only. 60 seconds is a lot. Long time and breathe. 10 seconds to go. Keep it here. Arms and legs. Three, two, one, and done. Take it off. Take off your undies. Kick it off. Take it across the room, right? Oh, my God. It doesn't. It loves you. So you know what? Let's go to a seated position. Let's cross it over here. Get a little hip stretch, right? That really needs it, man. How do you feel? Feel great. You did the real workout. I did. I love you. Right. Other side. Felice was also supposed to help me last week for body weight, but I had a sick kiddo. We didn't want to expose her to that, but I think this was the better option. I think there were more comedy opportunities. Need my Spanx. Yes. Let's take it here. Lean over into that. All right. I feel like I'm wearing Spanx. Everyone can relate to that. All right, team, so no q A today. We gotta get to soccer, and Elise has to get to work. Reach behind. I can't really do that, but you do that. Jessica says, ooh, booty. Alyssa's legs are burning. Always a great time. Yay Is. And we love Kurt too. He says there are different energies. Right. Elise is going to laugh the whole time, Kurt is silently cursing me inside. Yes. Melanie says her burning core. If you want to get a little pigeon stretch, why not? So check us out. Guess what? Next week, maybe we'll have Elise back. Who knows? That's the first she's heard about. She's like, wait, I'm gone. I'm out of time town. Next week is our closeout metcon party. So if you've never done a workout party on a Saturday, switch your legs. It is a good time. We do rounds of cardio, strength, mobility, and then you get to choose your own adventure. So you can choose like, you can choose to stop it. No, you can choose one of the exercises. That would be great. I can choose to be done. No, you choose. Choose which exercise. I use the adventure to end, but you can choose the ability. My goodness. Child's pose. Reach it back. I can't really do it, but you do it anyway. It should be a good time. We're gonna close out metcon, you guys. We have one more week of our five week challenge. Metcon. You guys are crushing it. Roll back onto your feet. Come up halfway. Little pedal so. And guess what's coming up. Speaking of core and laughing, April, absolution is back. Slowly bring it up. Big stretch to the top. Elise gave us extra abs. Tamika really enjoyed girlfriends giggling. Yeah. I mean, this is. This is pretty much our relationship, except we're not always working out. So take it across. Roll through. For Elise in that pink band, we're Rhonda has. Listen. She loves it. She loves it. Thank you, Rhonda. Take it across. Other side. Oh, thank you all so much. Thank you, Lany. Thank you, Jay. Janine. I love that you are. You are where you are. Yes, that's me. And you bring a friend and laugh. You're not so serious. Or take yourself too serious. That is not what we do right. Thank you, Aloysia. Thank you, Mel. Thank you, everybody, so, so much. High five especially. Thank you, Elise Sweaty hug, for helping me out today. You guys did great. One more week of metcon. You'll get your calendars and your emails tomorrow, and then absolution. So let's get one big deep breath in. I can't really do it, but you can do it. And out. That was your minivan. Metcon workout. Great job, everybody. Yay. Bye, guys. Thank you.
