LEAP Kickoff Party - LIVE workout on BodyFit by Amy

Amy leads a live workout for the LEAP fitness challenge, calling out participants by name through cardio, strength, and mobility exercises. It's a community event designed to kick off the challenge and build momentum with the BodyFit Athletic Club.
Happy Saturday. Hello. Hello, everybody. Welcome. Welcome to our Saturday live workout. Can you guys come back here and say hi? Melanie is here. Melissa, Lynn, Teresa, Melinda, Rhonda. Hi. Paula is here. Losia, let's do it. Mandy, ready for your tea? That's okay. You can come back and do this another time. Hey, stop. Kai. Carmela is here. Hello. Hello. Shelly. Welcome. A little break from cleaning house. I got all the kiddos here today. Even bingo. Come here, Bingo. So we are doing a live leap kickoff party workout today. As you guys know, when we do a party workout, it's a lot of fun. We're gonna break out all the equipment, but you use whatever you have available to you. We'll have some body weight. We will have some dumbbells, some kettlebells, maybe even a mini band or two. Carrie is here. And Elizabeth, Candice, Jessica. Happy. Good to see you. Jess, Carrie, Emmy. All right, guys, you want to go with daddy? Can you say bye to everybody? Laura is here. Nikki. Hello. Hello. Hey. Melanie says, what an adorable unicorn. Who's my unicorn? Oh, little. It's a pouty unicorn today. But that's okay. We're here. Yes. Hello, everybody. Christina, Alyssa, Angela is here. Mariah, first live I've made in a while. Well, haven't done one in a couple weeks. The last one that we did we was for my 10 year anniversary party. That was so much fun. Tiara. Oh, my goodness, I'm so glad to see you back. Tiara has been dealing with an injury, but glad to see you back. Allison is here. Natalie in Minnesota ready to move. Welcome, everybody. Lori. Hi, Courtney. So excited to see so many names and faces. I am so excited to be working out with you guys today. So as I said, it is our leap kickoff party. We started our leap challenge this week. You guys rocked out Limitless. We started the year off strong and we want to keep that going. We are leaping into February with the same energy and momentum and excitement that we had coming into the new year. And we're kicking it off even though we've been through our first week today with our leap party. So party workouts are a lot of fun. You have a cardio, a strength, mobility, and then choose your own adventure. You get to pick your last round. John is here. Hello. Hello. Jenny. Sarah. Yes. Everybody. Texas is in the house. Beth. I know, Jess. They all. My kids are getting so big right from when we first started doing lives and they were like one and a half and three, I guess, or four. Anyway. All right, so we're getting it done today again. I'm going to be using a variety of equipment, but. But you use whatever you have available to you. We're gonna work hard. We're gonna get it done in 30 minutes. Are we ready? Let's do it. All right, so go ahead and start marching. I see some children just peeking in the window out there. Our new space. What I love about it is that we have these great big garage doors that have windows. My old space is just didn't really have a whole lot of natural light, but often I'll see a child or a puppy just peering in. Linda is here. Oh, hello. Let's roll those shoulders. All right, so you know the drill. Quick mobility. Warm up just enough to get everything moving, but we're going to keep it short. And then we're going to jump right in. And again, we'll be working in circuits. It's no repeat except for what you decide you want to repeat on that fourth round. Right through here. Sarah did the Friday ISO fire this morning, but back for more. Oh, you are hardcore. I love it. That ISO is fun, but challenging. Right here, big stretch. Here we go. And let's take it right up through here. Up and down, right through here. Big stretch with that little hinge. And then let's take our hands behind our head. We're going to take it to a squat, squat it down, and bring it up. I like to have my hands behind the head. One that helps keep our back in alignment for this squat, but it also gives us that nice big chest opener that we all need. We do a lot of sitting in our computers, holding, looking at our phones, all of those things that bring us forward so we can open that chest. All right, team, let's take it back. World's greatest stretch. So big stretch back. If you want to keep it up top, you can. Otherwise, we're going to drop it right here. I want you to reach up, take it down. You can drop the knee on the ground, if that's better for you. Or you can bring it up to here, and let's switch our sides. You can go back to that plank or right through here. And again. Sometimes you feel more of a stretch with that knee down. Sometimes you want to work through it. It's up to you. And then let's take it to that high plank or all fours. So whatever is best for you. On your knees or on your toes. Little forward and back. Let's open up to one side again. You can be on your knees for this. Whatever feels best for you. You know, I'm gonna say you do. You be where you are today. Moving through the spine, getting that core fired up and ready to go. Go ahead and walk those hands back. And from this position, just little petal of the feet where I always tie my shoes a little tighter and slowly roll it up right through here. Let's have and reach across. All right, team, so we are getting it done today. Party workout. Maybe we can get my other timer going right in front and reach it across through here. All right, so we'll start with dumbbells, and as you know, we'll start with a cardio, then a strength and a mobility. But often they'll be combined, right? Our cardio is usually going to get some strength. Our strength is going to keep our heart rate up. Our mobility, often we're adding strength and core. So it's all everything, right? But it is giving you options. So then when we get to that fourth round, you can pick choose your own adventure. Big stretch through here, and we're gonna start with a good old jumping jack. But since it is our leap challenge, here's what we got, team. You can go regular jack and star jack. It's up to you. Or low impact and big like that or anything in between. So we're starting with that. Let's. Let's get it out of the way. Let's get those leaps. You don't have to leap. As I always tell you, leap is about leaping in with the energy. Doesn't have to be high impact. You can just get that leap from here, keeping it low. Let's do it. Here we go. So regular and star or here and here. And then you can just alternate your sides, take it out and up. That star jack is all about getting the power. That reminded me I said set my watch. If any of you are watch users, go for it. I'm doing high intensity interval training. I do that or functional strength, whatever it is, for you. Breathe up and yes, team, take it up. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Ha. I know. Starting off with a bang. All right, team, so let's grab a set of dumbbells. You can go with something heavy because we are going to take it. Plie and row. So it is your squat. It's your row. Drive up and out of it in three, two, one. Here we go. So plie, squat with a little hinge. Bring the elbows up and drive it up. So we're getting both a squat and a hinge and a deadlift, right? And then we're getting that row at the bottom. If this feels like too much, you just Pick one. Right, you can just do the squat. You can just do the row. As we come up with that row, remember, pull the weights towards your hips, towards your rib cage, not up towards the shoulders. Right through here. Yes, team. Three, two, one. And relax. Yes, team. So keeping with a little strength, a little cardio, but it's mobility. We're gonna get that. Side lunge, reach, big stretch. Side lunge, reach, big stretch. That's our mobility for 40 seconds. Let's do it side and bring it up. And of course, if you're feeling it, you can pick up your pace, but just make sure you're still getting the mobility. Shift into the hip. Big reach. And up. Boom. Take it here. Halfway there. Oh, that mobility feels good. Right? Get what you need out of it. If you need to hang out a little bit more and really sit into that hip, get that hip opener. If you need to get more of that stretch, take it there. Breathe. And up. Three, two, one. We made a team. Choose your own adventure. What do we want for this round? It is your pick. So you can do those jacks. Star jacks. You can do your plie and row. I think I'm gonna go with strength. Or you can do that side lunge mobility. Last 40 in 3, 2, 1. Here we go. And if you did that star jack, I want to know because I'm proud of you. I mean, I'm proud of all of you for showing up today. Remember, that is what it's about, showing up and moving our bodies. But if you picked the star jack, then you're hardcore. Kind of like those people who say they like burpees. Do we believe it? I don't know. But then again, I like most exercises. We got five seconds to go, team. Finish strong. Three, two, one. And relax. Yes, team. Set those weights down. Quick sip of water if you need it. Guys, we finished that first circuit. How about we close it out with a little deadlift into a swing? So kettlebell or dumbbell, whatever you have available to you, we will start with the deadlift because we like to have that as our warm up. And remember, it's just that hinge that we did in our actual warm up. And then standing up straight. So start with the deadlift for 30 seconds. Wrap that core. We're just starting at the bottom. Hips to the back. Drive it up in three, two, one. Stand up straight. Now a big key of this deadlift and your swing. Swing is activating the lats. That's why I wanted to do this. Right after that. We just did that row so what we can think about is squeezing down. Remember, squeezing as if you had oranges underneath. You're trying to squeeze the juice out. That's going to activate those lats, which is going to not only help us keep good posture and good form during our deadlift and swing, but it's also going to get more muscle engagement. On it. 3, 2, 1. Angela did the star jack. I love it. All right, team, so it is up to you. If you want to keep that deadlift, you can. If you want to go for our first kettlebell swing, you know I love it. We're gonna go for it. Remember, we're gonna drive it up, lock it out, let it drop. Really get deep in that hinge, but not rounding in your back. Drive up through the back of the body, lock it out tight, let it drop. Arms are just along for the ride. Skip, squeeze those arms. Here we go, team. 30 seconds. Let's prep it. 3, 2, 1. Power. Let it drop. Let it drop. Here we go. Drive up and in and breathe. Push into those feet. Locking out of the top. And again. You're not controlling it on the way down. You're getting a lot of power to drive it up. Then you stop the motion in midair and let it drop. Keep it going. Four, three, two, one. Swing and relax. Yes, team. First circuit down. Catch your breath, grab some water. Hopefully you're feeling it. Hopefully that heart rate is up. I know mine is. All right, team, I'm gonna get my airflow going. I didn't think I was gonna need my fan, but now we're feeling it, right? All right, team, so second round, we're gonna start with some cardio. And here's what we got, team. I want you to keep one kettlebell or one dumbbell in the center. And our cardio is also going to be a little bit of legs, right? So we're going to do a step out square squat reach or higher impact. So a little nice and light on your feet. Getting low in the squat tap. I like to do that just because it gives us a point to go to. You don't have to feel like you have to go all the way to the floor and bring it back in. Low impact, just steps. All right, team, let's do it. 40 seconds. 3, 2, 1. Here we go. Bring it up. Whoo. Right here. Yes, you can. Nice and light. If you're keeping it low impact, you're still getting low arms. We're getting that mobility, right? I told you, everything gets everything. Hello. Power up. Get low. Power up. It's kind of hard to do the cardio right after that swing, but we're doing it. Yes, team, 10 seconds. Breathe. Three, two, one. Yes. A little leg burner. Right, so after that, how about we take it down to the mat? We're gonna keep that kettlebell, and we're gonna add a press, close grip press. So we get triceps, back of the the arms. We get our chest and shoulders as we do a little toe tap. So it's strength. We get upper, we get core. Go ahead and join me down here. If you don't want to do the toe tap, just do the press. Here we go. Right here. Take it up. Slow and controlled. I know that heart rate is up because we did that swing and then we did that tap down, squat, pop up squat, little taps. Just keeping the core engaged. I know it's tempting to think that this little tap isn't doing anything, but I promise, if you tuck that pelvis, if you zip up the core, you're gonna feel it all the way through. Yes. Five, four, three, two, one. And relax. Yes, team. All right, so let's take it to our mobility. Since we're down here, why not? You have two options. You can go child's pose to all fours, or three options, actually. Child's pose to plank, or you got that down, dog to plank, Whatever stretch you need to get into that core. Little bonus core. Let's get it done for 40 seconds. In three, two, one. Here we go. So down dog, if you got it forward, into that plank, down dog, or child's pose, into the plank, or all fours up to you. I want you to really get that stretch, get that mobility. You can even add a little foot pedal if you want, and then feel the core kicking it. So maybe it's here. You're still gonna get that core as you come forward, right? And here, take it back. I know we got 3, 2, 1. Stretch it back. All right, team, what do you got in this last round? Choose your own adventure. It's a party. So Shelly says, why is the cardio so much longer? That's what I want to know. I'm gonna stay here for mobility. Why not? If you want to keep that down, dog to plank, or child supposed to plank, you want to do that press with toe tap, or if you want to have that long cardio with Shelly, I'm guessing that means you're doing it. Shelly, you got it. You got that squat, tap down. Let's get it done. 40 seconds. 3, 2, 1. Here we go. Stretch. I think sometimes the mobility it feels so good in the moment, even though it's challenging, that we just want to stay there. Breathe, stretch, and then core you. Do you. Maybe you're getting cardio. Maybe you're getting that strength. Whatever you need for where you are today. And forward. Yes, team. Breathe. Boom. Five, four, three, two, one. Big stretch. Back team. Wherever you are, stretch those shoulders. Stretch your back. Bring it back up onto your feet. Feet. All right, guys, how about another swing? Why not? You can do the deadlift if that is what's right for you. We are over halfway through this workout. If you want to keep it with the deadlift, you can. If you want to take it with that swing. I see that Kurt, set out my 35 for me because that's probably what I should be swinging with. So if you have something heavy, go for it because we are strong in these muscles. Team. I was just saying that I often have these two because they match, but I should bring this guy out because I can do it. I'm strong. You're strong. Let's do it. So 30 seconds. Whatever you got. Deadlift or swing, let's get some power. Let's get that good form. Shoulders back. We're gonna prep it. Three, two, one. Power. Oh, yeah. Can feel the difference. I'm gonna feel it in my heart rate. I'm feeling it in my muscles. Push into those feet. Oh, yeah. Core. It's been a long time since I've swung with this on camera, I think, but I'm gonna be doing it more often. One of my goals is to continually lift heavier. I'm always trying to do that free. Selena saying, hi, welcome. Five, four, three, two, one. Let it swing and relax. Selena in the Bodyfit Athletic Club. Thank you for saying hello. She's gonna come back to this later. Oh, man. Team, grab some water. How are you doing? I hope you're feeling it. I know I am. And breathe. Quick sip of water. And then this next round, we're gonna add a little mini band. If you don't have the mini band, don't worry, you don't have to have it. But if you have it, go ahead and grab it. We're gonna start with a little side step. So we're gonna put it mid calf, so between your knees and your ankles. And we're just going to do that side shuffle. So it is. It's gonna be cardio. You can make it a little more of a shuffle, especially if you. If you don't have the band and you feel comfortable doing those quick feet. But we're also targeting those hips, those glutes, and that lower body. Right? So 40 seconds, then if you have the band, we'll keep it. We'll bring it up above our knees. We will take it down for a little glute bridge with some triceps. All right, so get excited, team. If you have the band, use it. Otherwise, don't worry about it. You're still going to get it done. We're starting with our side shuffle. 3, 2, 1. So you can take it slow. It's cardio. So I want you to get your heart rate up, but if you feel comfortable, take it here. Lars, heart rate. I'm sure after that swing. Paula. Hello. Hello. Gonna be doing it later. And breathe. Here we go, team. I'm feeling that heart rate too, Laura. I love it. Woo. It's kind of grouchy this morning because, you know, the kids never know. They never seem to remember that it's a Saturday. They're up super, super early, and then they won't leave us alone. So I was cranky. I didn't get enough sleep, but now I'm feeling energized. The beauty of exercise, team. Three, two, one. Feeling that. All right, team, if you have the band, we're going to bring it above our knees, and then let's grab some dumbbells. Something medium, because we're gonna go chest fly. Oh, no, not chest fly. We're gonna go triceps. So here are your options. We're gonna go down, up, and out. Or if you don't feel comfortable taking it over your head, just go to that close grip press. We got 40 seconds. Pressing out with the knees as we go up in the bridge. Everything's gonna starts down in three, two, one. Here we go. Up and out. Let's isolate those triceps right here. Yes, you can. Boom. Here. Yes. Oh, man. Feeling the back of the arms. Breathe. Core is engaged as well. Right? Boom. We got five seconds. Three, two, one. And relax. Yes, team. All right, let's keep that band on. A little bit of mobility, a little bit of core and hips, just. Just to finish out this round, we're gonna get both sides. 40 seconds, we're gonna do that clamshell. And if you want to add a little extra core, you're lifting in that side plank. Yes, it's core. Yes, it's hips. But we're all pretty tight. We can work these glutes, these abductors. So let's call this mobility. In three. Zip up that core. In two. In one, in. Here we go. Just Your clamshell, if that's what's best for you. Or lift. And again. This is totally fine without the band. If you don't have the band. Breathe up and out. And here. All the way up. Keep it going. Staying zipped. Little tuck of the pelvis more. We got both sides. Sides on this. Breathe. Boom. Three, two, one. And relax. Feeling those arms after those triceps, right? Let's take it to that other side. Same thing. Can just get the clamshell hip mobility, hip strength. Or you can add some A core, some obliques. We got 40 seconds, team. Right through here in three, two, one. Here we go. Bring it up. Yes. Boom. Opening up through the hips. Staying zipped all the way up. I know there's always one side. For me, it's this right one feels tighter, right? So you gotta work a little harder to try to lift. The goal is not to rotate in the hips. So it's internal. External rotation. Right? So we're not moving our torso to the back. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. 1. Yes, team. All right, choose your own adventure. What do you got? If you're doing that clamshell, I'm gonna tell you the halfway point. Switch at your 22nd mark. You can do that bridge and triceps. Maybe you want to do that because you're already here. Or you can join me. I'm gonna go back to cardio and do that little side shuffle. 40 seconds. Whatever you got, team, let's do it. Here we go. Your workout. Your workout party. What do you want? Do you want that cardio? You're doing this with the band. I know you're feeling those glutes. Don't worry. This is all we're doing with the band. Trying to incorporate more things in workouts because I know a lot of us have a variety of equipment, and usually I'm mixing it up. This is your dumbbell. This is your kettlebell. This is your mini band. But let me give you some more options as we move forward, because it's fun to put them in together, right? Boom. Five seconds to go. I'm sorry, clamshell. I forgot to tell you. Go ahead and switch it. We'll do a little longer with you. Why not? 20 more seconds, team. Just so you can get that other side. Clamshell. Hip lift. Five, four, three, two. Boom. Oh, take that off. Yes, team. Breathe. Quick sip of water. You know what? I think we want to get one more swing. Why not grab some water, grab that kettlebell. One more swing or deadlift. Whatever it is for you. I'M gonna go with a circle 35 because we love it. Make sure you have some space, and let's get it done. 30 seconds only. Last swing. Bring it in. Let's take it right through here. Shoulders back. Hinge. We're gonna power it up from the deadlift or that swing. Whatever is best for you. Nice. Good form. Core engaged. Prep it. 3, 2, 2, 1. Power. Let it drop. If you're feeling fancy and you want to do that little swing hand off, that's challenging, right? But only if you're comfortable doing that and you've done it before. You're gonna feel the difference in it. Really takes the arms out of it. Breathe. Or two. Ten seconds. Here we go. Eight, four, three, two, one. Swing. And relax. Pedal those feet, team. Grab a quick sip of water. I know. Whoo. Catch your breath, guys. It would not be a party workout without the bonus move, right? I know. We got four minutes. I thought maybe we'd have time for one more round, but we opted for a swing instead. So one more swing. Now let's get a bonus move. You guys know bonus moves. I call it brain, not pain. So your brain has to think about a lot of different things. The goal is one last push. We're getting it all in. We're getting cardio, we're getting strength, we're getting mobility out. I'm gonna grab my dumbbells. I encourage you to do the same. We have not had any lunges in this workout. Did you know that? Right? So we're gonna lunge it down and curl. Right side, left side. Then we're gonna take it wide, we're gonna pop it back, and we're gonna row from here. We're gonna pop it up, and we're gonna come up out of the deadlift. Super simple. Lunge and curl. Lunge and curl. Pop back, plank, row, row, and then when you come out of that. So when we pop back out of it, I want you to think of it as a hinge, right? Then we step back. Lunge and curl. Lunge and curl. Plank, row, Pop up. All right, team, so grab those weights, whatever you got, all right? I got my tens. We got. 60 seconds is all that we need. You do not have to speed through this, all right? Just keep that core engaged. Let's finish strong. In three, two, one. Here we go. Lunge and curl. And breathe. Lunge and curl. Yes, team, take it down. Hinge, pop it back, row each side, pop it up, all the way up. Get set. Lunge and curl. Yes. Lunge and curl. Hinge. It down, pop it back, row each side, bring it back in, drive it up. If you want to get fancy. Curtsy, curtsy, lunge, and curl up to you. Ha. Take it down, walk it back or pop it back. Either one. If you don't want to do the pull plank, just take it to a regular row. That works too. Regular lunger, curtsy. We're here. I know. If you're not doing the plank, just hinge it, do the row all the way up. Can we get one more lunge and curl? Boom. I know. Take it down, pop it back. Finish strong wherever you are. In three, in two, one, and relax. Look at that, guys. We even finished. With time on the clock to stretch. Let's take it right here. Good work, team. Leap party. Hopefully you weren't worried that we're gonna do all leaping in this workout or in this challenge, but as you know, I will always give you options. Oh, man, my heart rate's up after that. I hope you were feeling it too. Let's take a big stretch here. Over to the side. Whoo. Here. And then to that other side. Leaning into that. Down through the center. Let your chin drop to your chest. Getting it all in. Roll those shoulders. Thank you all so much for being here with me today. Let's get a little hamstring stretch. So I'm not hanging out today, but if you want to join me for Q and A's, I do it every week over in the Body Fit Athletic club, as well as Q and A is with Vivian, our Body Fit registered dietitian.
