LIVE MOVE Kickoff Party Workout - Saturday at 9AM PT

Live recorded YouTube fitness class (Move through the Decades kickoff) led by a single instructor in May 2024. The instructor welcomes an international live audience, explains the month-long themed series, and leads a sequence of warm-up mobility, mixed strength/cardio circuits (kettlebell/dumbbell deadlifts and swings, skaters, rows, lunges, snatches), mobility/core breaks (bridges, pigeon-to-plank, arm slides), and a bonus 60s side-lunge snatch. The session emphasizes choice (participants pick strength, cardio, or mobility options), equipment substitutions, and upcoming themed workouts across the month.
Happy Saturday, everybody. And happy Move through the Decades month. Lori is here. Hey, Sherry. Good to see you. Charlotte. Andrea is here. Dawn, Kelly. Welcome, everybody. Louisa. Melinda. Louisa. In Germany. Amazing. You guys, welcome, welcome. Just me today. I have one kiddo who is not feeling very well, so they're both inside, but they said to tell you hello and that it's too quiet in here. Probably right? Hey, Jessica. Saying it just like me. Happy Saturday. Thank you, Jess. Ah, congrats on the job interview and hosting the birthday party. That's a lot of work, right? Carmela is here. Rhonda is here. Tiff. Alexander. Hello. Hello. Happy Saturday. Sabine Celeb. Hello, everybody. All right, so it is our first week of Move through the Decades. As you can tell, I'm in costume. We're not going to be all 70s today, but I thought, why not? Since we started with our 70s Jazzercise yesterday. Maybe you didn't, maybe you didn't. But if you're here for the first time, it is our Move through the Decades month. We did this last year and we brought it back because you guys asked for for it. So we're doing the same thing that we do every month. We're getting full body strength, cardio, mobility, all of the things, but we're adding a little flair. We're adding some flashback workouts, like your Jazzercise. You have aerobics coming up next week. I'm redoing some of my old workouts. Those are your remix Mondays. Those have been a lot of fun and they are kicking my booty, so they've been a really good time. Chastity, Jenny is here. Naomi. Thank you. I actually kind of want to wear these out. They're really comfy. Alyssa, may the Fourth be with you. Yes. Hey, Mel, Lakita, Jody, Ash. Hello. Hello. All right, guys, so today we're just gonna do a mix. Kirsty is here. All right, team. So if you've ever done a party workout with me before, you know that the way we do it is we're gonna get some strength, some cardio, some mobility, and then choose your own adventure. Yes. Because it is a themed month. We'll maybe have some themed exercises. Why not? But. But the name of the game is to move your body and to have fun. So Claire is here. I know the timing is a little hard if you are in the uk, but you can do it in the morning. I'm so glad you like this week. All right, guys, so get excited. I have my equipment. I have dumbbells and kettle bells. Today we may Even sneak in a mini band here or there, but use whatever you have available to you. Melissa is here. Welcome, welcome. Again, we're just here to move our body. So on that note, make sure you have your water, make sure you have some weight, something available to you, and let's go ahead and start moving. Here we go. Team can march it out. We'll get our timers going. If you have a watch that you want to set. Alozia is here. Oh, Jenny getting over a stomach flu. I'm so sorry. I hope it didn't go through your whole house. We. We've had a sick kid a lot of the week too, and we're really hoping that the rest of us don't get it. Oh, Jody. Loved the earlier time. Yeah, you know, we started that. That was today because the Maya who is not feeling well was supposed to have a soccer game at 10, but looks like she's not going to be able to go because she is not feeling well. So let's take those arms out into the back. Colin in Canada. Welcome, welcome. Open those arms up, you guys. I had a little bit of work travel this week for Wednesday through Friday, so I really have not done much in the last few days. So I am ready to move. Feeling stiff from being on a plane, but excited about moving with you. You guys, these pants are from Amazon, so thank you for asking. Ash. I will if I can remember. I'll try to provide a link in my Instagram maybe or here on YouTube. So reach it here. And I don't think they were that expensive, but they are super comfy. We'll see how well I'm moving them. I can't really remember. Let's take a flat back down and round it up right through here. Flat and around. One more. Hold it here. Roll the those shoulders. So we're gonna have fun today as we always do, right? But party workouts are extra fun. Let's take a little roll through the hips and then a squat right here. Roll through the hips and a squat. Luly is here. Laura in Latva, Latvia. Right in Europe. Excellent. I love seeing. Seeing where all of you guys are from. I love that we are so international. And then right through here, let's hinge it. Hips to the back and then reach it up. Big stretch hinge and reach it up and you can keep it just right here. Or how about we inchworm it out, guys? You know, I love this mobility. Right through here and then inchworm it back. And here's what we're going to add. Team if you want, when you get out to that inchworm, you can step one leg up, world's greatest stretch, switch to the other leg, and then inchworm it back. So we're putting them together. If the inchworm is not your thing, you can just go right, right to that world's greatest stretch. But if you can, we'll step it up. Big reach here. Oh, I can tell I am tight. I need this mobility. That might be my pick every time. One more time. Hold it here. Feel that core. Big step, big reach. Other side, and let's walk it back slowly. Roll it up. All right, team, tap and reach. I tell you what, I'm not used to having pants this long, so hopefully I don't trip over them. Hey, Katie is gonna get this after work. Good to see you. Reach it over your head. Let's get some little hamstring curls, and we'll bring them up right here. Oh, feeling good. And cross it here. All right, team, so we're going to start with our strength. And our strength and cardio are going to kind of go together in this first round. So go ahead and grab one heavy dumbbell, and here's what we got. We're gonna take it to our little skater or curtsy lunge here and up. So a little bit of a dance move, right? We're gonna start with that. Then we'll drop it for our cardio, and we'll do our full disco skater. All right, so we're getting it all in similar movements, but let's get low to high. So we get a press. We get our lower body working as well with or without that weight. But let's try to start with it. We got 40 seconds of work. Three, two, one. So up and down. Lori's gonna do this later. Really try to get low. This is where we're going to take our time. We can get quick when we take a disco, but I also want you to get that strong press twist for your core low in your legs, right? All the things. And here up 10 seconds. Three, two, one. And relax. All right, team, set that weight to the side. Now. Similar movement. We're gonna add a little disco arms. It's a little tap, little tap. If you're not into dancing, you can just make it a regular speed skater, but still get low. So get those legs working. Still get the arms moving. But let's bump up our cardio. Here we go. Clearly, I'm already feeling that cardio. I like to imagine alive, right? Nobody wants to hear me sing while I'm out of breath. But you decide. You can step and cross or you can jump it. You can even take it. Two hands. Hey, Jody. Good morning. Side to side. Can you pick up your pace in these last 10 seconds? Because we got some mobility coming. 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1. Teresa's gonna do it later today. All right, team, so meet me on the mat. You have two options for your mobility. As our heart rate comes down. Bettina. Hi. Heading to Kids Sports. That was supposed to be me. Stretch it back. You can go child's pose to all fours, or you can go down dog to plank. So mobility. And of course, we're sneaking in that core. Here we go, team. Find that good position. All fours or. Or plank. Three, two, one. Big stretch. Heels down and back into that plank. So I really want you to think about using your core, even if you're staying on your knees, using your core to create the movement, right? Big lift and down and making sure that you're holding that stretch, that you're getting that mobility if you need to. Maybe you like having. This is where I'm gonna step on my pants. Right? A little petal. Drive it up. Therehere we go. 3, 2, 1. All right, team, you know the drill this last round. You can get whatever you want. So you can do that press, our little disco press and curtsy. You can do our disco skater, or you can take it to that down dog plank. I think I'm gonna keep with the strength. I think I'll probably get my cardio with that as well. But we have 40 seconds. Choose your own adventure. Whatever you need for where you are today. Let's do it up and twist. Breathe up. Getting low, driving it up. Little twists. And if you've got that cardio going, I want you to see if you can pick up your pace. Really land into that hip. You're getting that mobility. Let's go for it. Mobility. Really push up into that down dog. 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1. Yes, team. Catch your breath. Let's grab some water. How about round two? We get some kettlebells coming in, and maybe in between, we'll even start with a deadlift and a swing. Grab some water, team. Cheers, y'. All. All right, so before we go into that next circuit, grab one heavy kettlebell or two heavy dumbbells. We're going to start with a little deadlift for 40 and then swing for 30. If you've never done the swing or the swing is not right for you, you just keep the deadlift. But let's go ahead. We're gonna drive Our hips to the back. Stand up straight. Wrap that core in three, two, one. Stand it up. So again, this can be dumbbells or kettlebells. Doesn't matter. You got the kettlebell. It's going right down the center. If you got your dumbbells, you can have two going right down the front of the legs. Stand up straight. Yes, you can lift. Remember, connect not just with the glutes and the hamstrings, but your core, your deep core, your pelvic floor right at the top. Down and up. 3, 2, and 1. Breathe for just a second. Stretch out your back. Now, you can keep that if that's best for you, or you can drive it up into that swing. We got 30 seconds. You do you swing? Swing or deadlift? In three, two. Prep it. Here we go. Power it up. Let it drop. Believe it or not, this kettlebell work has been around through the decades as well. It just didn't get that popular until the last 10 or 15 or 20 years. Drive it up. Let it drop. Certainly not mainstream fitness until about the last 10 years. Here we go, team. We got five, four. Lock it out. Three, two, one. And relax. Pedal those feet. All right, team, so keep that kettlebell close by. We're gonna start with our strength, and actually, we're going to start with our dumbbells. First strength. Who remembers this from our 70s live workout party last year? Remember, we just did that little. We also called it the single ladies, right? So we're taking it here. You can either just alternate your row, or if you want to add a little calf raise with it, you can a little dancy. You can do a regular row if you want, if that's better for you. But either way, we got 40 seconds of strength. Let's work on that. Back, shoulders, back. Core engaged. Nice. Good. Hinge weights towards your hips. Here we go. So alternate. So reciprocating row, so as one goes down, the other is pulling up. If you want to pedal those feet, you can just for a little flare. And also you're going to feel those legs working, right? Especially those calf muscles, which we don't isolate super often, but we like it. Yes, you can. Pull the weights up. Squeeze. Squeezing those shoulder blades. Ten seconds to go. I'm feeling it a little bit more than maybe even a regular row. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Set them to the side. All right, team, so here's our cardio. We're gonna do that little Saturday Night Fever. One and two. One and two to roll. Roll. If you don't want to dance, it I just want you to squat, squat, shuffle, shuffle. So you have both options, all right? If you want to dance it with me, we got our fingers, we got our rolls. You do you. If you want to do side squat, Side squat, shuffle, shuffle, that works too. Here we go. Have fun. And your roll, you get a little lower, a little higher. With our finger guns. I think this is straight out of the movie. One and two. Get high. Yes. Get low. And down. Breathe. 10 seconds. Make it good. Get that heart rate up. Three, two, one. And relax. All right, team, let's take it back to that mobility. We're gonna go all the way down on our back this time, if that is good for you. And we're gonna take a big arm slide with a bridge. So we're gonna pull those elbows down to our side, slowly slide them up for mobility, and then also lift. Yes. We're getting glutes and hamstrings, but I want you to really open up the shoulders. Lift high in the bridge. Don't step on your pant legs. Let's do it in 3, 2, 1. So slide. And if this doesn't feel right for you, you can just pick one or you can alternate. I know sometimes it feels a little weird to try to coordinate the two, but you could do one and then the other. So arm slide and up. Breathe or together. Either way, lift those hips to the ceiling. Yes. Glutes, hamstrings, but also that hip flexor mobility, which we all want. Yes. Three, two, one. Up on your feet, team. Or you can stay here. Choose your own adventure. What do you need in this moment? I'm gonna go back to cardio. Why not? You can do your reciprocating row with or without your knees. You can do cardio with me, or you can stay down. Arm slide with that hip bridge. All right, so really focus on that mobility. Open up your shoulders. If that's where you are, if that's what you need. Let's do it. Here we go. 40 seconds. What do you got, team? If you're doing that row, remember, it's reciprocating. So one pulls and one releases. You're gonna feel the difference. It's gonna make you move a little quicker in that row. Also a little more fun, right? Remember, you can be here and just do your squat. Up to you. Ten seconds. One and two. One and two. Roll it. Three, two, and one. All right, team, how about we go back to that swing or deadlift to finish out this round? What do you got? You can do either. We're just going to do one 30 second interval. But if you want to take it swing, you can swing. If you want to take it with that deadlift. It's getting hot under here, guys. All right, if you want to take it deadlift, you can do that as well. Catch your breath. Let's connect with that core. Shoulders back. Remember, we're going to hinge. We're going to drive it up either way, deadlift or swing. You're going from the hinge standing up straight. Let's get it done for 30 seconds. Roll those shoulders back. Here we go. Prep it. Three, two. Deadlift or swing. Let it drop. Let it drop. Driving it up. Push into your feet as you stand up straight. Remember, it's a reactive movement. So we get that power. Let it drop. Power. Lock it out. Let it drop. Almost there. Keep breathing, team. All the way through. Yes, you can. For three, two, one, Swing and relax. Pedal your feet right through here, team. Let's grab a sip of water. Yes. There we go. All right, team, we are doing it. We are getting there. All right, so how about let's take it to a deep goblet squat with our kettlebell. We're going to take it here. We're going to pulse for three. We're going to press into tries. So something a little medium to lighter of your kettlebell because we want the trim triceps overhead. If you'd rather just do the press, that works too. So I'm gonna go with my more medium kettlebell squat pulse. Press and tries again. You can pick if you want to just do a version of that. All right, so we're right here. Nice wide stance. Let's do it. Three, two, one. Press. Tries. I want you to really get low. Drive those hips to the ground, then power, then precision on your triceps, right? Yes. 3, 2, 1. Drive it up so we get slow pulse. Pulse your hips down to the ground. Right? Power up, then slow triceps. There we go. Yes. You already watching the clock? I'm not sure I was. That's okay. Let's get one more. Take it up. Yes, team. All right, so one medium dumbbell for your cardio. Can't remember what we called this last year, but we did a push, pull, push, push, pull. Tap it out, right? So it's a little bit of a dance move. Two, tap it out, right. We did this kind of in our hip hop and our cardio through the decades. We just did. But I want you to think push, pull with your arms. Catch your breath. Three, tap it out for three. And Then a little tap in. Let's do it. Here we go. 3, 2, 1. 3, 2, 2, 1. 3. And you don't have to do the pull every time. You can just do it on your last tap in. Yes. Keep it moving, team. I am watching the clock this time. And we got 10 seconds. Tap, tap, tap and pull. Three, two, one, and relax. Join me, team, down into a plank position. Plank are all fours. Here's what we got. We're doing that pigeon plank, then take it back, core and hip stretch. If that's not right for you, I want you just to hold the pigeon. You can do 20 and 20. I'll tell you halfway, or you can do that 90, 90 switch. That's a better option for you. But here we go, team, 40 seconds. Zip up that core. I want you to push up strong through those arms. Let's do it in three, two, one. Take it here. A little stretch, then use your core to lift. So I want you to really lean into the stretch. Then as you come up, lift from the core. Try not to push from the hands and the toes. Lift with your abs. You're going to feel the difference. It's like your core is lifting your leg off the ground. Then controlling it as we go back. Right, take it here. We're at that halfway point. If you need to switch your pigeon. Yes, team. Hip stretch. Bring it up. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Stretch it back. All right, team, you can keep that mobility. You can go up to that squat, pulse, press and tries. That's where I'm gonna go. Or you can do that. 3, 2, 1. Tap in. Up to you. 40 seconds. Choose your own adventure. I'm going kettlebell. Let's get it done. In three, two, one. Here we go. Pulse down to the ground. Drive it up in tries. Or if you're tapping it out, quick taps and then hold. Tap it in and pull. Adding that weight for a little extra upper and a little extra heart rate. You're doing that pigeon. Just take your time. Up and here. Breathe. Yes. And back. Drop it low drive. Last five, four, three, two, one. Yes, team, how about it? How about one more swing and we got one more circuit? Team, we can do it. You can grab some water if you need it. All right. These pants are really lightweight, but they are not breathable. You guys all right? Recommend wearing them to a party. Maybe not working out. All right, we got that. Swing or deadlift? One more time. Whatever is best for you. You do you. If it's the deadlift, it's the swing. Let's Go for it. On this round, drive it up, lock it out, let it drop. Shoulders back, core wrapped. Let's do it. Hinge it. Three, two. Power it up. Here we go. Let it drop. Remember, use your breath to help you connect at the top. Really locking out in the glutes and hamstrings, knees, and hips. Squeeze those oranges under your armpits. Remember, that's going to activate your back. Let it drop. Let it drop. Power. Let it drop. Yes, you can. Team, we got 10 seconds. Let's make them good. Drop the chest. Power, Power. Three, two, one. And relax. Yes. And breathe. All right, everybody, right, one more time through. Here's what we got. We're gonna lunge it. Grab those medium. That is two different weights. All right, so I'm going with my tens. We're gonna do a regular lunge. We're gonna take it down, curl, stand it up. That is your strength. So join me here. We're in our last circuit. All right, team, roll those shoulders back. Alternate your lunge curl at the bottom. So you have to hang out in that lunge for just a second. Let's do it in three, two, one. Here we go. Lunge, bicep curl. Step it up. Other side. Get low, hang out low, then drive it up. If you need to, you can curl at the top. But if you're able, I want you to hang out low in that lunge and then drive up and through. Yes, you can. And if you want to switch, we're at the halfway point. If you want to make it a hammer curl, you can. There we go. Last one. Boom. And relax. Yes, team, take it. Take to the side. All right, we're gonna shuffle it. Shuffle, shuffle, shuffle, reach. Shuffle, shuffle, shuffle, reach. So you can still think of it as a cardio partio, as a dance move, or just a shuffle. If you want to add a punch, that works too. Let's get it done. Here we go. Shuffle, reach, and reach. Whoo. You want to punch, you can punch. You want to dance it up to you. If you want to do that double step, if that is better for you than a shuffle, keep it going. Hand up. Yes. 10 seconds. 3, 2, and 1. Down on the mat, team. Here we go. All right, you're in a seated position. You can stay seated. We're gonna work on that back mobility while we work on that core. All right, so we're going back, little dance move, then up. If that's not right for you, you can just keep it here seated, or you can take it standing. But I want you to wrap that core. I want you to think about twist, torso, rotation, mobility. Using your core to create the movement, but also working on that mobility. Here we go. Back, three, two, one, up. And your goal is to pause at the bottom and to use your core to go down. Pause and up. What I don't want is for you to use your momentum or use your hip flex flexors, right? So three, two, pause. Three, two, core. Get that rotation moving side to side, huh? There we go. Yes, you can, team. Five seconds and relax. Boom. All right, guys, last move of this circuit. You pick. I'm gonna go back to that shuffle and reach. You can lunge and curl. You can stay there for core, but let's get it done. Last 40. 3, 2, 1. Shuffle and reach. Shuffle, huh? Or remember, you can take it lunge, curl. Remember, you're holding that lunge down, then biceps. So actually hold it. Double step works here, too. Keep it moving, team. If you're with that core, remember, pause at the bottom, pause at the top. Use the core for the movement. 10 seconds. Breathe. Relax. All right, team, you know what? I think we still got time for one more thing. How about a bonus move? Why not? Let's get one heavy to medium. Dumbbell. We're taking it 60 seconds. I want you to watch me here. Catch your breath. We're gonna go side lunge, side lunge, side lunge, snatch. Then we go 3, 2, 1. And you're gonna snatch the opposite way. So whatever you need to do to be on that side to snatch, you're gonna snatch right, then back to your side, lunge, snatch left. If the snatch is not right for you, just do a curl and a press. Are we ready? Let's do it. Here we go. Side lunge, step it in and snatch right through here. So swing, switch it. Step it in. That helps. Switch your arms. When you start. Side, shift your weight. Shift your weight. Step into that weight snatch. Switch your arms right side. If it's not making sense to you, just get that side lunge and that snatch in. Don't worry. Remember, brain not pain. And here, side. We got 20 seconds, team. And power right here. So low. Shift your weight, mobility and strength. Step it in. Power and strength. Yes. Nine seconds. Three, two, one. Finish it out wherever you are. Yes, team. Oh, you did it. Shake it out. Taps in front. Right again. Back to a little 70s dance. Not all 70s. We got 80s coming up, right? We may sneak in another live in the month. I don't know. Maybe. So make sure, team, that you are subscribed to this YouTube channel channel that you have those notifications turned on, that you follow me on social, and that you're on my email list. It's all right there in the description for you. So, you know, if we add in another live, sit back into that hamstring, breathe into that team. If you need to hold on to the wall, hands on both legs. As you guys know, up until pretty much up until this month of last year or up until June, we did lives every Saturday for three years running, with the exception of a few travel days here or there. So last year, we decided things were getting a little too busy as our kids get older, but we still like to do them. I really love hanging out with you guys live on Saturday, so we are putting them in here and there. So make sure that you're following me in all the places. So, you know, Melissa's tired. Me too. Vivian's gonna do it to tomorrow. I know. I am tired, y'. All. I know if it's because I had a few days off, I'm still coming back from travel. Let's reach those arms up right here. Stretch to the side. Thank you for starting your day with me or ending your day with me, whatever it is for you or joining me midday. I'm so glad to see all of you here. And again, please keep. Keep high. Yes. Bonus move. Jess, your heart rate is up. Excellent. Thank you. Thank you. Yeah, I think Maya will be fine. It's been kind of a sick earlier in the week and then better, and now she's not feeling good again. You guys know how it goes. Hopefully we're at the end of that season. Roll that wrist. All right, you guys, so we have so much more move coming up. We have three more really fun weeks next week. We'll have another remix. Monday, I'm remaking it a 2014 workout. We're gonna have some fun stuff. We'll have another back to basics. I don't know how many of you liked the dumbbell back to basics challenge. So hand here if you can bring that quad up. Otherwise, just take it here. Yes. Mel loves the party workouts. Thank you, Andrea. So we have another kettlebell back to basics coming. You have a new mobility, a new cardio, and then you will have your 80s aerobics. And again, I encourage you. Even if you think you won't like it, just try it. You may have fun with it. Or if you know you're not, if it's not your thing, just find another cardio workout. You guys know there's tons on my channel. Then we got more coming. We got some buns of steel, we got some abs of steel. We got some arms of steel. So get excited for that. And on into the 90s and 2000s, we're bringing back our Taebos. So so many fun things happening this month. And then of course, guys, we're going into summer fit and we have lots of fun things coming up next week. Be on the lookout, some specials and some things specifically for Mother's Day. Thank you guys so much for joining me today. I am was so tired coming into this workout and I'm so energized and ready to take on the weekend right after it. So thank you for that. Let's get one big deep breath in and out. You did it. That was your move through the decades Kickoff party workout. Great job, everybody. Thank you so much for being here. I will see you next time.
