Boyd Erik Martin watched events at Sydney and Rio Olympics and reflects on the Games as a global gathering where athletes pursue dreams every four years. He notes riders compete more frequently than the quadrennial cycle.
If you could watch one or two other of the Olympic sports, what would be on your bucket list?
I don't know. At Sydney Olympics, I remember watching the 400 meter finals and then the weightlifting and then when we're at Rio, we watch the judo and all the other sports. It's pretty amazing. You know, it's a sporting event where everyone sort of from all corners of the world have chased their dream and gone through trials and tribulations, ups and down, highs and lows. And they all
congregate every four years at this one competition. So
it's kind of nice looking around and seeing all these people that have sacrificed and worked hard and had a bit of luck and they all end up in the one location.
Yeah. And the riders are lucky because you get to do it more often than once.
Yeah. It's a long career. Yeah. Yeah. And I feel like I'm not. I feel like I've got a bit left in me too. So it's sort of exciting knowing that there could be more to come.
