In this NBC Sports Bay Area segment, analysts Bonte Hill and a co‑host evaluate the Golden State Warriors' recent signing of 26‑year‑old guard Brandon Williams. They outline Williams' physical profile (6'1", turning 27 in November) and describe his game as a blend of Jamal Crawford, Leandro Barbosa, and Kyrie Irving, emphasizing his ability to finish at the rim, quickness, ball‑handling, and playmaking despite limited three‑point shooting. The discussion highlights his season‑high 26‑point performance on Christmas Day, noting his versatility in scoring against various defenders, including taking long two‑pointers and a three‑pointer when challenged. The analysts argue that Williams provides valuable bench depth as a “bucket getter,” a priority for the Warriors when Stephen Curry is off the court, and they praise his offensive instincts and willingness to attack the basket. Overall, the segment positions Williams as a solid, if not elite, addition to the Warriors' roster, offering scoring punch and energy off the bench.

What do you know? We have some moves to discuss because the Warriors are on the board, baby. So Brandon Williams, 26 years old, he'll turn 27 in November, a 6'1 guard who will finish at the rim, still needs to work on his 3-point shot, but a nice depth piece for the Golden State Warriors. He's small. That's the downside. He's small, but his game is nasty. Um, I mean, I, I would— I described it yesterday as it's like, it's like one part You got like a dash of Jamal Crawford, you know, a splash of Leandro Barbosa, and a sprinkle of Kyrie. Now I'm not saying he's as good as Kyrie, don't get aggregated, okay? But what I am saying is—
Sprinkle. Yes, sprinkles.
Yeah, a little tease. What I am saying is that he gives you some of what those guys can give you. Um, he has shades of those guys in his game and makes him an effective offensive player. You know, even without a 3-point shot. And none of those 3 guys excelled at the 3, but they excelled at penetrating and getting to their spots and getting buckets. And, uh, Brandon Williams is a bucket getter. And on that Warriors bench, among the things you need, a bucket getter is high priority. Yeah. How many times have we watched him struggle last year when Steph was off the court? If you just want to get somebody and get a bucket, You could do a lot worse than Brandon Williams.
There's a handful of reasons why I really like this addition, guys. I mean, number one, Bonte, you hit it right off the top where you said we saw this guy twice and he lit up the Warriors. Think about Christmas Day when he scored a season-high 26 points. And that was just the flurry of different ways that Brandon Williams can score the basketball. Yes, he's not a 3-point shooter, but you know what happened in that game? there were a handful of times where Brandon Williams was getting past anybody you stuck in front of him. It didn't matter if it was a big like Al Horford or if it was a guard. Then they put Draymond Green on him, and Draymond said, you know what, I'm gonna play some mind games with you. I'm gonna sag off of you. And he took a couple long 2s and hit them, and even sagged off on him on a 3. He took one 3, he banked it in. Not a 3-point shooter, but it's the fact that he showed, okay, you're gonna challenge me, I'm gonna take this shot, and I'm still gonna find ways. Now you have to come up on me. He's right by you. That man is quick. He's got some nasty handles. He is fast, fast. And that was the biggest thing with the Warriors guards last season, right guys? Is who can beat their man off the dribble and get downhill to either score at the rim or playmake? Because he will dish it as well too. You look at that film from that Christmas Day game.
Yeah.
Oh, like the first highlight is him getting to the rim and dropping off to Anthony Davis right there for an easy layup. It's just easy for him.
