Trung grew his Twitter from zero to 350,000 followers in a year. The biggest mistakes: too many hashtags and @-mentions make tweets look like ads. Keep the text clean, and if you need to tag someone, do it in a photo instead.

My buddy Trung went from 0 to 350,000 Twitter followers in a year, and I asked him what are common mistakes people make.
If you have lots of blue, which is the hashtags and a lot of @mentions, people just glaze over it, right? It looks like an ad or just doesn't look appealing. I keep it all text. If I want to @mention somebody, I put a photo and I tag them in the photo, and that way you don't clutter up the actual tweet itself.
