BeReal hit 53 million installs and topped the App Store, but only 9% of users open it daily versus TikTok's 90%. The app's authenticity pitch can't compete with people's preference for showing an idealized self, and Instagram and TikTok are already copying its features.
Despite reaching 53 million installs and hitting number 1 in the App Store on multiple occasions, BeReal is destined to fail. The appeal is that it's way less superficial than Instagram, but while everyone wants other people to be authentic, we only want to present the best version of ourselves. And the data is showing this to be true. Only 9% of users are opening the app daily. Compare this to TikTok, where 90% use the app at least once a day. Also, with both TikTok and Instagram copying BeReal, what shot do you really think it has going forward?
