BeReal hit #1 in the App Store but its authenticity promise is hollow. Users still edit and reshoot posts, making it just like Instagram. The novelty will fade.
Despite being number 1 in the App Store, here's why BeReal is destined to fail. The appeal is that it's way less superficial than Instagram. While everyone wants other people to be authentic, we only want to present the best version of ourselves. Be honest, how many times do you reshoot your BeReal posts? We're pretending it's different than Instagram, but in reality, it's just going to end up being the same content. So I think the novelty is going to wear off. What do you think?
