In this best‑of episode of the Brendon Show, Brendon Burchard opens with a brief introduction to his “best of” series and promotes his High Performance Monthly subscription program. He then delivers a focused monologue on the importance of establishing a dedicated Sunday (or weekly) ritual to boost creativity, well‑being, and performance. Burchard argues that a consistent, unstructured day each week—ideally Sunday—should be used for family connection, spiritual practice, journaling, reflection, and spontaneous activities like a “walkabout.” He also recommends taking a 90‑day break every three months, ranging from a short getaway to a simple stay‑at‑home retreat, to prevent burnout and sustain creative energy. Personal anecdotes, such as a recent Caribbean vacation, illustrate the restorative power of intentional downtime. The episode concludes with a call to action: listeners are encouraged to share the episode on social media, use the #brendanshow hashtag, and consider joining the High Performance Monthly program for deeper, live coaching and community support.

Develop a Sunday ritual. I'm always curious about this. You know, how you hear these podcasts and People like to say, what do you do in the morning? And they say, well, you know, I like to eat Lucky Charms, but only the marshmallows. But you ever hear that in the morning podcast? They're always so curious about the morning routine. I like to ask people, what do you do on Sundays? What's your ritual on a Sunday? I think, and not just from my spiritual sort of preference, but I think people need to use Sundays more strategically. I think that we need a day of the week that is chosen strategically and consistently to live a good life, where on that day things happen with family that are unattached to work. On that day, we can pursue learning. On that day, we can pursue, I would say, hobbies. On that day, we can pursue our spirituality, our learning. On that day, we can recover and rejuvenate. On that day, we remind ourselves to just be in the moment. And not so scheduled, not so, you.
Know, having to go from here to.
There, allowing yourself to be in the moment and having some kind of thing that we do. Now, maybe you can't do that Sunday because your shift is on Sunday and this will never be, you know, applicable to you, or maybe you're in that.
Growth phase and you just feel like you can't take a day off.
Either way, that's cool. But I think if you're ever going to really enjoy life, I mean, on a consistent measure of well being, I don't mean like at an esoteric level, I mean at a tangible level in which you enjoy life again, it needs to happen every week. You know what I mean? I'm kind of telling you this. Fresh off an awesome vacation, I took a trip down to Anguilla in the Caribbean with my wife. And we had just an amazing, amazing time.
I loved it.
I hope that, you know, y', all, at one point in your life, if.
You'Ve never done it, get to the Caribbean.
I mean, I. For me, people ask, where's my favorite place in the world? There's not even a second. I mean, it's so far and above the Caribbean than any other destination I've ever been my entire life. And I've been blessed to be a lot of places in the world. I would say there are very few magical places like the Caribbean outside of maybe the. The islands around Thailand and the Maldives, I would say, are pretty. They have that magic, at least for me. I know there's lots of other amazing places too, so I'm not discounting any of the ones.
I just say those are my faves.
And it just Brought up a good reminder how important it is to have those things.
Many of you know, if you followed.
Me for a long time, one of our recommendations at High Performance Academy is to schedule 90 day breaks every 90 days. Just stop working and doing crazy things and take anywhere between one and 10 days off. Like go on vacation or go to that little place you got to escape, or just leave town with your spouse and, you know, get the parents or somebody to take care of the kids. Do whatever you got to do. But every 90, if every three months, you can't escape for two to four days doesn't mean you need to go spend money at the Four Seasons. Maybe you go stay at a friend's house that's got a house that's nicer than yours. Maybe you go rent an Airbnb. Maybe you just go camping. Maybe you go make out in the back of the car and fall asleep for two days eating French fries and potato chips. I don't know. I think it's important for you to get away because if you don't, then your creativity will suffer, your soul will suffer. And I don't think it has to be only every 90 days, though. That's one of our rituals. I think you need to set up a Sunday ritual that if it's not Sunday, it's someday during the week where you just got a day or at least an afternoon or a morning or a half day where you're not scheduled and you're not working. You know, for me, one of my favorite things to do when I have these moments during the week is I go on what we just call a walkabout. You know, where I'm from, I just come over, I'll come downtown, wherever I am, wherever I'm staying, or wherever I'm traveling. And I'll just go walking around town with no map, no phone, and I'll just go for a stroll. That's it. I'll walk into whatever store interests me. I'll stop and eat when I'm hungry to eat, but I'll just wander. And I think we've lost that. But I also thought that as part of our Sunday ritual, and I do think this should happen on Sunday before the official week begins, as they call it. I think Sunday is a great day for you to journal and reconnect with your emotions and your dreams. How are you feeling about life? It's a good day for that progress check. Think about your family. Check in with your family. How you doing, kids? Good.
Great.
How's it going, wife?
Good.
Great. Are we happy? Do we need anything? What's going on? What's happening this week? It's just like a check in. People have gotten so reactive and so overly scheduled that they're not thinking or being. And I know you know what I'm talking about. So I'm not going to hammer too much more home. I would just say bring a little more unstructured time, a little more reflection and a little more beauty into Sundays. Do it once a week at least on some day of the week and you'll start to feel a little bit better about life again. You'll start to feel a little bit of the spirit come back in the creativity, rejuvenated. If it's been too long since you've done that, give yourself your gift, would you?
