Foreign. It's Brandon. And welcome to the first ever episode of marketing with me, Brendan Burchard. I'm so excited to be here with you. I'm launching two things today, in fact, I'm rebranding my old podcast called the Brendon show to motivation with Brendan Burchard. And then this is my new marketing podcast. Some of you have been with me a long time, so you know the story here, but I just love to share it since the first episode ever. And maybe in the future people will be hearing it for the first time, or maybe you never even knew. I taught marketing at the levels we've been teaching it for the last 15 years. Because the only way to get marketing training for me has been to sign up for one of our thousand dollar courses or our $99 a month thing or come to one of our, you know, high fee seminars. And so most of the world really only knows me for personal development because that's what I really love to do. Now, 25 years ago, I was in a car accident. And up to that point, I was a pretty unhappy kid. And that car accident shook me hard enough to make me realize I didn't want to die. I just didn't know how to live. And it got me into personal development and philosophy and psychology and sociology and human behavior change. And I changed my own life. Well, as I was doing that, people started asking me how I did it and I'd start just telling my personal development philosophies that turned into six best selling books, 500 million video views, 20 online personal development courses that have been taken by over 3 million people around the world, you know, a huge newsletter list, one of the largest personal development newsletter lists in the world. And eventually to starting Growth Day, which is the world's number one personal development app. Also the sponsor of the show. All of that was just, you know, my entire life. Right along the way though, on social media, on Facebook, Instagram, et cetera, I only ever posted personal development work. Unless you are in my industry, if you are a creator or an influencer or you happen to be segmented in my email list to having wanted to be an entrepreneur or you are a business owner or a marketer. I never told the world anything about marketing except for that one specific segment. Never on social media. And so this has been a time where in the last two years, of course, everybody kind of discovered the creator economy, the knowledge economy. You know, this world of all of us who are online entrepreneurs essentially trying to build, build an audience, build a personal brand. Monetize our content or what we know. And I've been doing that full time for 15 years. But again, that marketing content I've never released until now with Marketing with Brendan Burchard. This show is on a podcast and a YouTube channel, and I'll be releasing two episodes every single week from the vault. And when I say from the vault, what I mean is, well, all these years I've been teaching marketing concepts, marketing strategy, from how to do copywriting to how to sell, to how to speak persuasively, to how to write really great sales pages, to how to film a sales video, to how to build your audience, to how do you actually monetize through the 12 different ways that you can monetize in this modern economy? How do you do live broadcasts? How do you do online courses? How do you do webinars? All of this I've been teaching to our private clients or our marketing clients over the years, but never had a podcast on it and never released any YouTube on it. So this is a pretty exciting time. We'll be unlocking so much content, because the truth is, much of my content lives behind a paywall that no one has access to anymore because my clients only ever have the last year unlocked. But I've got stuff that is literally a decade of just incredible marketing philosophy and strategy that still applies today. In fact, we'll make sure everything still applies as we release it and as I do these new episodes. Of course, we're all learning just how powerful marketing is today. You know, your ability to reach more people and earn more online and grow a brand or business today is unprecedented. We've never had anything like this. There's so many tools. There's so many all in one tools. You know, there'll be some sponsors of the show, like a kajabi or a circle. There'll be sponsors of the show that help you do sms, like community. There'll be sponsors of the show who just have made marketing today easy. But what most people struggle with is first, the psychology. Like, who am I? What am I passionate about? What do I want to share? How can I get out my own way? How can I believe in myself? How can I find my own authentic expression? And then there's the strategy, which is, okay, what specifically should I be doing and what works now? There's the technology, which is, okay, how do I create the webpage, capture the email, how do I create the videos, how do I create the reels and the talks and how do I handle the audio, the video, the splicing the editing, how do I make money and set up the payment system, all that stuff. And then of course, there's the industry. You've got to be able to stand out. You've got to know what other people are teaching you, got to find your own, own unique lane. And all of that is not easy. In fact, it's why many millions of people come into what is now called the creator economy. I really believe that if you want to stand out, you got to think of it more of like the thought leader industry than just the creator economy. Because lots of people can create a dance video, very few can create thought leadership where they create a great audience that is served with great value and insights. Who wants to then pay you for more content, Wants to pay you as a coach, client, consultant, wants to pay you to speak at their events or to sponsor you at their conferences or on their platforms. That doesn't happen unless you become a thought leader in the industry as well. So I started that. I've started that industry. I started in that industry, I should say, you know, really in 2001, I released my first book. But then it didn't really. I didn't really think of it as a job or a career. I was just a passionate writer. Went and got a great job working for Accenture, which is a major global technology and management services company, and had a great career there, loved working there. But I really wanted to write books and I really wanted to coach other people. And I saw online happening, I wanted to teach online. I thought, wow, I could reach a lot of people. I'm coaching one on one here. But with this technology, with being able to put up video online and then go live online, I could reach so many people and I had the blessing of doing that. I was really the first person in my entire industry to be doing seven figure online course launches for personal development. First people. One of the first persons in our industry to do a live launch that did seven figures like alone in personal development. One of the first to have a live membership where I taught live online. Remember this is like 10, 15 years ago. So this is a long time I've been doing it. And a lot of the insights I've learned I really want to serve you with in this podcast. I know that marketing is hard. Building an audience is hard. Doing this is all hard. Like this setup. You see me if you happen to be watching this on the marketing with Brendon Burchard YouTube channel, you know this. I just set up, you know, this this morning. And now the light's coming in. I don't know what the light's gonna look or the, the lighting's gonna look like in the video. You know, we're always reinventing, we're always creating. This is the new space I'll be filming a lot in for both podcasts and I'm really blessed to get to do this. I wanna thank you for your support over the years. These episodes are gonna be so high value. I think you're gonna see each of these Marketing with Brendon Burchard episod each of them are worth 100 or $1,000 each. You'll be blown away by the value that we're unlocking here. And of course, you know, my greatest joy in my career hasn't been, you know, the big books or podcasts or courses or events. I've kind of done a lot of what I set out to do. My real joys have been mentoring other up and coming thought leaders. I mean, I have helped over, you know, I've helped thousands of bestselling authors, I've helped millions of new creators figure out the economy. I've helped so many people who have come in and served and helped us on our platforms, whether they were a teacher on Growth Day or their teacher at Influencer Pro, or they're, you know, part of our brand new Growth Day Podcast network which is also launching this week and next week. And so my job has been these last couple years to really elevate other voices. So we're doing that with the brand new Growth Day Podcast Network. If you're new to my community, what I do in my real life is I'm the CEO of a software company called growthday. It's an all in one personal development platform. So it has all of your life coaching, all of your all of your online wellness challenges, your mindset journal, your goal setting planner, your habit tracker, and then inspirational teaching from the world's top motivational teachers and life coaches. It's called Growth Day and it's a full software app that you can, you know, access on your browser, on your phone, through Apple and Android and it's a great joy, but that's a full time job. And then I'm out here mentoring and helping people and doing that through this show through our Influencer Summit. If you've never heard about that, just go to influencersummit.com and check that out. And through all the mentorship I do in the industry for years, I've brought together the top performing influencers in the world. People who really understand how to do thought leadership. These are, you know, people who have like five or ten New York Times bestselling books. These are people who have millions of fans and followers. These are people who've created, you know, blockbuster eight figure businesses selling online courses or coaching or group coaching. I mean, this is like probably 30 or 40 of the top performers in the entire industry. And I bring them together once a year just to brainstorm about this own business. To have a place like a sounding board, an environment or community where they can share the challenges of all this. And in working with all of them, working with all the teachers in Influencer Summit, working with all the teachers on Growth Day, helping so many people become New York Times bestselling authors or launch their first course or class for 15 years, I've learned a lot. And my hope is the perspective of that in these episodes we'll be releasing for you will really open your eyes. I think it's also gonna be fun. Many of these, you know, videos or audios coming from the vault stand the test of time, but I might look 10 years younger, I hope. But it's not just coming from the vault and it's not just perspective. You're gonna be along with me on the journey as I try to build Growth Day into a unicorn personal growth company. My ambition is how do we make Growthday the world's number one personal growth company, period. You know, because you have these other apps out there that are good for mental health or for sleep or for meditation or for mindfulness, but those are like single serving personal growth. You need an integrated tool source for that. You need a place to go that is your home for personal development. Because all those are subsets. Sleep is a subset of personal development. Right. It's a practice of ours, just like meditation is a practice, just like tracking your habits or writing down your goals, or really thinking and having a vision for your life, or being honest and vulnerable enough to find where your weaknesses are, to shore up your strengths, to put yourself in a position of being a role model or a leader. And as we're building Growth Day, you know, we've got 60 people on the team. As I'm recording this first episode, I'll try to tell you about that journey as well right here on this podcast. So you're not just gonna hear me speaking strategically or, you know, just telling people advice. It's, you know, honestly, we'll be coming from a place of just, you know, the humility that we all face. And when we try to grow a brand and make online sales in the modern world, it is hard, it is difficult. But I want to let you know, there's people who've done this before, and there's people just like you who are doing it and learning for the first time. And I want this to be a community that really, really gets that. You know, when I first started really teaching millions of people about marketing, it was 2011. And in 2011, I wrote a book. It became a number one New York Times best selling book. It was the first real number. It was the first New York Times bestselling book in our industry that captured what the thought leader economy was. You can still read that book. It's called the Millionaire Messenger. And my thought was that, you know, you could share your advice and earn a living from it. And of course, people had done this before me. And of course that industry had been there, but it had been so fragmented. You know, you could be a speaker or you could be a coach, or maybe you were a consultant. Maybe you were, you know, working with people in service to them in some other way, like an agency. But what was really clear was it was all fragmented. You had, you know, writers conferences over here and speaker conferences and associations over here. You had this weird online marketing group coming up teaching, you know, courses. You had all these agencies proliferating, but no one really thought of, like, oh, wait, for many of us, this is the same career. Because you're not just going to be a motivational speaker. You'll probably write a book and do coaching and teach online. And I know that sounds like, yeah, no, duh, Brendon. But when I started teaching that in 2008 and then that book came out in 2011, it set the industry on fire. Like I said, number one New York Times bestselling book. It was epic. And it really announced the arrival of what we would call now the modern creator economy. Of course, again, it had been out there and I'd been out there. You know, I came up just as the iPhone was coming up, just as YouTube and Facebook were coming up. I was the first person in my industry to hit 2 million fans on Facebook. You know, which I'm not saying any of that to be braggadocious about it, more of like, I just, I was blessed to come up with them, right? So I'm literally not saying like, hey, look at me. I'm like, hey. I was really lucky. These platforms and this movement was happening back then, and I just happened to come along at the time. And I loved teaching. Most importantly, if you know, my reputation, I loved my clients I loved my customers. I didn't do that get rich quick nonsense on the Internet. Instead, you know, when everyone else was, you know, trying to teach online marketing in a way in which they said, you know, hey, press a button, make million bucks, I was saying, hey, this is a career. This could be a calling. This is a mission. This can be fun. This is going to be your life. And I think I just took it in a different way because I'd had a job before, you know, when I was a leadership development consultant at Accenture, you know, there was a very clear career ladder. There was a progression of when you come in as an analyst to. You become a consultant to a manager or an associate partner and a partner. I was like, oh, well, that's a career. And of course, in other industries, people think about things as career. But often in our industry, people just think of like, I'd like to do a side hustle. I like to make an extra 500 bucks a month. And so all these teachers and trainers at the time were just like, here's a quick, you know, thing to make a cash machine or something. It was like all of that. And by the way, I learned from a lot of those people too. So, I mean, I learned from everybody. I was so hungry to pay attention, to learn. I took so much advice from people. Some of it was terrible, some of it worked, some of it didn't. But what I loved was building. I loved finding ways to teach, to find my voice. Because I want you to think about this for a minute, especially if you're new to my world or the industry. I've created four pieces of content every day for 15 years. To my memory, the only times I ever missed was when I was in a hospital bed, was when my dad died from leukemia, was maybe when I was in, like, you know, on a tour. You know, sometimes on when I tour, it's really difficult if you don't know what I'm talking about. I used to do eight live seminars a year, and it was often these were three and four or five day seminars, and they were nine hours a day on stage, just me. Most of my events for 10 years had no other speakers. It was just me teaching because I'm a curriculum based teacher. So people would come in, we teach a framework, and we would break it down, we would workshop it. We would literally teach, teach and train on that thing. It wasn't like one of these hype events or inspirational events, though. There was a lot of inspiration. And we clapped like crazy and we jump and we dance but it was just me and I really had to hone my craft on stage doing that. And it wasn't something I ever thought I would do. I want to be a writer and a coach. But I found out that if I wanted to succeed at selling books or coaching more people or teaching online, I had to learn how to talk. And that was really hard. That was really hard for me. And now it's more natural and easy. But it was not easy at the beginning. And so here we are. Though, having done it for so long, I've just learned a lot of the things that might help you in your psychology or with your strategy or with the technology or in the industry. And I hope then with all that said, you'll subscribe to the show and if you've ever known what I'm doing or followed me before, just please go tell people, hey, Brendan's got a new marketing podcast just called Marketing with Brendon Burchard and help me spread the word and I promise to over deliver. You're going to listen to these first couple episodes and be like, whoa, he just gave that away because again, these were all behind a paywall at some point. Of course, if you want ongoing teaching or training from me, well, you have two options. One, if you want the personal development side, go to growthday.com that's where I teach all of my personal development now. And two, if you want like marketing teaching or training, just go sign up for the free Influencer Summit that's coming up. At Influencer Summit, you'll get into my funnel. You'll see our live teachings and trainings. I'll tell you about my programs. Basically, I go live and I teach marketing to a group on the first day of every single month we come, I teach one new marketing strategy that's relevant for that month and then I do breakouts. We all set our business and our marketing goals together. We network, we come back, I end with some fire and man, we shoot off right into the month and, and we all go build. That happens every single month. You'll learn about it after Influencer Summit this year. Influencersummit.com to check that out and growthday.com for checking out the personal development stuff with all that. For those who've been listening to me for a long time on the Brendon show podcast, please note that is now called Motivation with Brendon Burchard. You can see I'm trying to really separate these things, right? I've got my marketing side with Marketing with Brendan Burchard and Influencer Summit. And. And I've got my personal development side with Motivation with Brendan Burchard and Growth Day, trying to keep it easier for the audience to find my stuff, for my team to create content, rhythms, and topics, and for our audiences to kind of choose their own adventure and not be forced into both. I hope that will serve you. I want to say to those who are new here today, listen, if you made it this far, there's something in you that says you've got a voice and you've got value to bring to the world. I want you to believe in that. Like I shared in the Millionaire messenger all those years ago, that each of us has been through life experiences and gotten perspective or wisdom, sometimes the hard way, that could serve other people and maybe even make their life a little better or a little easier, that you know something or you're passionate about something, that other people, they're interested in that, and they're also passionate about that, and they want to unite and they want to learn and they want to be part of that community. So I share with you today. If you're here and it's the first time you've been thinking about doing marketing, it's the first time maybe you've ever even thought about doing it as a career, or maybe you're already really experienced at it and you're just looking for the edge. You're looking for the strategies that have allowed me to, you know, be part of multiple unicorn companies, that has allowed me to advise and work and mentor literally the world's most followed people. I'll give those pieces of nuggets and those little, you know, I'd call them edge points. Those little. Those little moments where you'll hear me teach something like, oh, that's how to say it. Oh, I didn't know it had to go in that order. Oh, that's why my page isn't converting. Oh, that's why not. I mean, I think you're gonna find so many little distinctions in marketing that you'll hear so many distinctions. I think not only will you get better at it, you'll get more excited about it. And as you get more excited about mastering marketing, I promise you, you'll be more effective at it. You'll serve more people, you'll earn more, and you'll change the outcome of your family forever, but you also change a lot of lives along the way. I'll say it just like I did all those years ago. You can make a difference, and you can make a fortune sharing your advice, serving other people online building something that matters. And you can have a lot of fun doing it.
