Foreign. Hey, my friends, it's Brendon Burchard and welcome to the Brendon Show. Hey, y', all, it's Brendon and I'm starting this new series for you where here on the Brendon show podcast, I'm going to do a little bit of a replay of my week's live broadcasts on Instagram or on Facebook. I hope you're following me on Instagram or on Facebook. And often I'm going live now, sometimes 15, 20 minutes, and I'm trying to share some funny human behavior. I'm trying to share what I'm working on and really taking you on a journey as Denise and I build our new brand called hpx, which is launching soon. I'm really working hard to just get out there and be a positive voice in this world right now when there's so much chaos, so much turmoil, so much negativity, I'm just trying to be out there more consistent. And so today's recording is what I recently did on Instagram Live and I hope you'll really enjoy it. It's a message about doubling down and it's about something that I really believe in deeply. So I hope you'll do me a simple favor. I know I don't ask for a lot, but if you listen to this specific podcast episode of Brendon show and you really love it, would you please take a screenshot, tag it, send it to your friends and really just share it out there. Just use the Brendon show and double down. You won't know why until you listen to the full episode doubledown. I believe this message is so important right now and I really enjoyed this one. So please, please, please, if you want to watch the video of me talking about this, go over to Facebook. I always leave my Facebook Live recordings up on my Facebook page. On Instagram, obviously Instagram lives dis like in 24 hours, so make sure you're following me on both platforms so you can catch those. But I wanted to do this series and this is the first one ever where we're pulling the audio from that Instagram live and we're replaying it here on the Brendon show and the topic is doubling down. Let's have a listen. Hey all, what's up? It's Brendan. Welcome to hpx, your high performance experience of the day. Sorry, I've been maa on the lives here. I just finished a mastermind where I was with some of my highest end clients for the last couple days here in Miami. And so it's been kind of crazy. I haven't got to go live for a little bit. I'm actually supposed to be recovering today. And I just was like, I gotta show some people this view and talk to some people and tell you guys what's been going on with all things in my life. But you know, we always start the show with a little bit of funny human behavior. And funny human behavior is today. I was just right before I went live here today, I was trying to film a video for you all for my YouTube channel this week. And I was using a new camera and I suck at it. And funny human behavior is. How many times do you all get something new? You get a box, you order something and you're really excited about it and you unbox it, you're really ready to use it, you throw away the instruction manual. Okay? You just, you just completely. And you know when you throw out like you feel yourself throwing the instruction manual and you're like, maybe I should keep this thing because, you know, maybe I'm not the biggest, smartest human being in everything of all time. So you have the instruction manual, you paid for the thing but you literally grab it and upon opening box you throw out the instruction manual. That's what I did. And so I got two new cameras for traveling and I threw away the instruction manuals for both of them. Never even looked at it. And then what do you do? You sit there for an hour tweaking and playing with all the dials and you go, this is stupid. Before you finally remember that, you're like, oh wait, I don't know everything. I can be a student. So what do you do? You hop onto YouTube and you watch one video and you figure it out in like three minutes. That was what happened in the last two friggin hours over up in the Brendon show right here. I got this new camera, this is not sponsored by the way, but I got this new camera for the road. It's a GH5, Panasonic GH5 with this great badass Lumix lens. Really, really great camera if you know what the hell you're doing. I don't know what the heck I'm doing. So I put the scoofy thing on, kept changing the lighting and the colors and it was just like it wouldn't focus on me. Then it was focused on like the friggin couch behind me and you'd see that and it's like I'm playing with all. I mean look at all of the dials. Dials Dials. Don't know what that does, but you know, more buttons and dials and more buttons and dials. And each of these buttons and dials all talk to each other somehow to make filming yourself four times more complicated than it needs to be. What? Why? Why? Yes, it says ask a 10 year old. I know they could probably figure it out for me. I mean, what any experts on a Panasonic GH5 and how to set the lighting and the focus so it stays DM me because apparently I'm an idiot and I can't figure it out. I previously had this guy which is the Sony A7. Love this camera. Sony A7, Sony A6500. Love it. The challenge was when I was filming with it, I couldn't see myself. So I try to film, but lens is on this side. Not helpful. Love the GH5 because guess what? Lens comes out so now I can see myself. Hi, Brendan, how you doing? So that's helpful, except it just, it was super hard to use today. And I'm not blaming anything, nothing against Panasonic. There are other cameras that are easier to use. But I was looking for something to really spruce up some other shots that we're trying to do. Let's see. Yeah, GH5 sucks at auto focus. I don't know what it goes in and out. It's focused on the couch. You guys want to see? Okay, I'll show you. Hi, guys. All right, I'm going to try to figure out how to grab. Hi. Instagram, meet Facebook. Facebook, meet Instagram, Be friends. Okay, I'm going to give you guys a tour. Forgive me if this does not look good. I'm on a little bit of a break between two trips. So I'm in Miami and here's the view for you guys today. This is Miami. It's pretty, right? And you know, this is a gray day in Miami. And let me show you what a gray day in Miami is. A whole lot different than a gray day in friggin Portland, Oregon. Let me tell you what, shout out and love to Portland, Oregon. Love you guys more than anything and miss Portland so much. But, you know, that's what's up. Oh, did I just show this entire completely trashed hotel room? Hopefully not. I don't know about. Does anyone else here travel and just completely trash hotel rooms? It's not that I don't. I'm not, you know, Rockstar trashing them. It's that I travel with so much gear. You know, I travel with just a tremendous amount of gear. For stuff, you know, I've got cameras, I've got, you know, five or six suits, you know. Yes, I have a lot of shoes, but it's only because I have to wear suit shoes. Yuck. But yeah, I travel with a lot of stuff, so I kind of trash the hotel rooms. I don't mean to, but. Hey, welcome to hpx. I like to tell you a little about what I'm always working on. HPX stands for the High Performance Experience. I guess that's what we're calling our show. Denise and I are launching hpx, the brand, in about two weeks. We're actually going to launch it probably on Valentine Day. Since it's her and I working together. We thought it would be fun. Some of you guys were with us at Transformation Week when we launched at the beginning of the year and she has been MIA just as much as I've been. As we've been delivering the Mastermind and traveling and still trying to move, it's been a ton of work. So we just been. We've just been at it. We've been at it. Give me a thumbs up for the people who make a big mess in your hotel room because I'm really wondering if it's something I need to work on. And I don't mean to be flippant, but one of my mentors was Wayne Dyer. And Wayne just, you know. I hope you haven't read a Wayne Dyer book recently. Go read it again. A couple favorites of mine. The Power of Intention. A couple favorites of mine would be Real Magic. I loved his book. Gosh, what was it? There's a Spiritual Answer to Spiritual Solution to Everything. Loved that one. Anyway, Wayne taught me this thing where he would. Every time he left a hotel. And remember, he and I, like a lot of people in my industry, we're in a hotel room sometimes for days for a seminar or workshop. But he was sharing with me how every time he left, he'd leave a little note for housekeeping and he'd leave a hundred dollar bill. And that was his, just his, you know, his gratitude for people. And I always thought that was super awesome. So I started that same tradition. So every time I leave a hotel room, I just leave a little note for housekeeping. Sometimes I leave a book and with a little note and then a hundred dollar bill. And partially because, you know, they deserve it if they're coming in my room after a trip, I just have to say that. Stupid. True. Oh, dear. Thanks, Wayne. Shout out to Wayne Dyer for the good advice. I miss Wayne tremendously as I know many of you do too. One of the greats of the industry. So what are we working on? So I'm in Miami for a couple days just recovering from my mastermind. Mastermind is, you know, hanging out with your high level clients basically and facilitating their business growth or their entrepreneurial growth, which is what we were doing. Today was my kind of day off to rest and I wanted to, I just had something in my heart I wanted to share and get out on for my YouTube channel and for my podcast tomorrow. So probably won't be on YouTube tomorrow because I couldn't figure out the focus and the lighting. But I did capture the audio so that'll be good. So if you're not subscribed to the Brendon show, please go subscribe, listen to the last couple episodes. They were super powerful. And what I will do is tomorrow I'll drop the podcast where I shared something that was really on my heart today. And it's the only reason I'm working today. I was supposed to have the day off, but I bust out this big fancy camera. Some of you don't think this is a big fancy camera. I don't know why I do, but I just do. So I wanted to shoot this message and it's a message I'd like to share with you all today too here. Since I got you live, not asking you guys for anything. In fact, it's almost the opposite. It's so many people ask me, what can we do for you, Brendan? Because I've spent my entire adult life writing, coaching or training people on how to improve their lives. So I get a lot of beautiful offers and asks and I recently some of you all saw the social media happening with some of these folks. I took like 10 big influencers out to, what is it, Jackson Hole, Wyoming last year. And we're all sitting down and I mean when I take them, I mean I literally, it's all expense paid trip. I mean I go get multiple helicopters, we took them fly fishing, we took them into the Tetons, we took them kayaking. I mean full rented this huge home and all these other things that we just put together. It was just epic, right? Really, really big trip. But on the first night, of course some people are like, why are you doing this? And I've done this all my career. I get people together, I facilitate conversations and networks, I mastermind, blah, blah, blah. But often they go, what can we do in return? What can we give back? And I never have an answer. For 10 years I've never had an answer. I'm just like, oh, I just do this because I've always wanted to be a leader in my industry and bring the leaders in my industry together and network them and say, you learn from you, you learn from you. Go. That's one of my great joys is trying to not only be a good student of the industry, but try to be a good steward of the industry. That has given me so much abundance and joy. And so I take them out and they said, well, what can we do for you? And I said, no, I'm good, man. Because you guys, you watching this have given me so much. My dream is to be a writer and a writer first. And you guys supported my books and now I don't, you know, I don't have to write books anymore. I could just keep just, you know, doing whatever. But I love to write books. My passion. I love to coach people. My coaching clients have referred me. Some of you, I coach all year. I love training. Some of you guys are coming to High Performance Academy. We've got 2,000 people coming in Phoenix in end of March at High Performance Academy. So, I mean, it's been, you know, it's been a lot, but I don't really have anything to say. What do I need? I'm good. I'm happy. I'm a simple guy. So I don't have a lot of, like, I need things. But I finally came up with an answer. I'd love to run this by you guys. And when people say, brendan, what could I do for you? Here's my new answer. I would love for you to double down on your goodness. Double down Whatever you do in the world that's good. Whatever you do in the world that contributes whatever you do in the world that raises standard, lifts values, inspires people, contributes in some way. Double down, double down that commitment, double down that resolve, double down that effort, double down that frequency. Like whatever it means for you, you got to find what are you doing in the world that's good, and double down on it. It doesn't necessarily mean double your workload or double your work, you know, hours. But it means, like, double down in heart, in commitment, in excellence for what you are doing. Double down on that consistency and that excellence for what you are doing. Because I don't know how you feel, but I feel like the world has kind of tilted a little bit tilted towards the negative. It's tilted towards chaos. It's tilted towards, you know, like apathy or disinterest or, you know, judgment or prejudice or Hate. And I think a lot of people are drowning in pools of pessimism right now. They have, you know, they just don't believe things are possible or possible for them. But worse, we also are drowning in prejudices. Like, people are so sometimes unexposed or uneducated or haven't been around or worked with a lot of people. So they think, oh, those people are like this, or those people are like this, or they judge. Or even people in my own industry who go around kind of peacocking say, well, I'm better than everybody else. And, you know, people who do this, they suck. And I'm, you know, there's a bunch of phonies out there and I'm the best. And I mean, it's all this judgment and comparison crap. And so what are we all going to do? We're going to have to change the energy on this planet by double down on our goodness. You know, when the darkness starts taking the light, the light's got to shine a little bit brighter. Can I get an amen on a Saturday from everybody in the comments down below? Amen. Amen. Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen. I mean, it's like, come on, when it's a challenge, when it's dark, when people are being stupid or they're spreading hate, you got to spread that love. So what can we all do? I have some simple ideas. What does double down on your goodness mean? I mean, it's simple. Things like double down on goodness can be as simple. It's like double the amount of words of encouragement you give to people. You know what? Text more people and say, hey, honey, I love you. Text more people say, hey, I'm cheering you on. Text more of your friends say, I see you chasing this dream. Good for you. Words of encouragement is spreading goodness. Then sometimes that might just mean it's not just like spreading, you know, words of encouragement. It might just be be that person who's spreading appreciation for others, like Wayne Dyer taught me, by tipping or taking care of the people who surround us, who take care of us. Like, sometimes an appreciation is goodness. I also think really to spread goodness, we're gonna have to, like, double down on our courage. When you see a wrong happening, you gotta call that out. So when you see somebody on social media posting, like, divisiveness, call it out and say, hey, like, let's stop all this divisiveness. Let's be open to other perspectives. Let's practice compassion. Let's understand that each person has their own story, their own struggle. Their own, like, dreams and cheer those things on instead of judging them so much. I think that's what really, like, goodness requires speaking up when other people are spreading hate or ignorance. And I think so many people are scared to do that because they're scared to get into the fray. But all that we have to do, and we've learned this for so many, you know, so many great leaders and trainers in the past, is like, hey, all it takes for evil to win is for good people to do nothing. I don't remember who originally said that quote. It's not mine, but it's true, right? So all we have to do is like, okay, find your own. What's your unique thing? Maybe you're like, hey, Brenda, I'm a good mom. I'm like, great. Double down on that. Double down on that connection with those kids, on how you care for them, the values you're sharing with them. Double down. You know, if you're like, well, Brendan, I do good works by. I make great products that change people's lives. I'm like, great. Double down on your commitment. Double down on the excellence of that product. Double down on your promotions. Like, really go in. Because most people right now, because they don't know how the world's gonna turn out, here's what they're doing. They are tiptoeing around their contributions. They give a little bit here, but they're like, well, people judge me. They pull back. They give a little here. Doesn't get the momentum they want. Oh, well, they pull back. And so many people are pulling back right now. I'm saying double down. That's my request to the industry. So if you're an influencer, a thought leader, an expert, double down on your goodness. Double down on the intention. Double down on the values. Double down on the standards you're setting. If you're a leader right now, double down on really being committed to that vision. Even though maybe you're not happy with your employees, maybe you're not happy with the team, maybe you're not happy with where it's going. Double down on the commitment for the. I mean, you said you wanted it. You raised your hand. You said, I'm in that. I want to change this, I want to contribute this, I want to lead this. Don't back away just because it got hard. Double down on that goodness. You got to find how you're going to do that. But if you've ever wanted to do anything for me or this HPX community, that is it. Double down on the goodness that you are putting into the world, no matter what that means, whether that's your good works, whether that's your good contributions, your good promotions, the good messages you're giving to the kids. Double down. We need you right now. I think one other area that we can all double down on, and it's so simple, and it's just like something that we all tend to just forget, you know, we just tend to forget, and that is doubling down also on our own reverence and appreciation for life. The reason that many people aren't, you know, being as good as they can or spreading the goodness they can is because they're taking life for granted. Do you know when people get really nice and kind to each other is when they lose somebody or somebody gets sick or they felt terrible, now they feel better, and all of a sudden it's like they recalibrate because they appreciate life. When you really appreciate life, goodness matters. And I'll share my last little moment here of preaching to you today, and I hope you'll share this particular message with everybody. Like, when you get to watch this replay on Instagram or on Facebook, I hope you go share it everybody, and I just tell everybody about or tag them right now or just give a shout out, however you want to share this. But here's the last thing, and I hope that you'll really share this. To double down on our goodness, many of us are going to have to double down on our volunteerism. We have lost that activism that's the most basic and the most fundamental and the most effective in the world, and that's volunteering our time and energy towards missions and causes and beliefs and organizations that we love. And we're losing members in our volunteer organizations worldwide because so many of us have got caught up into that, what I call that selfie generation. And I don't mean like an age like millennials or selfies. I mean, anyone alive now, it's a selfie culture that we're in right now where it's all about, oh, how do I look good? Versus what does the world need? And we've gotten so much trapped into, oh, what do I feel good about? What are my strengths? What makes me feel happy? And what's my perfect dream? And we're not even seeing the people struggling around us because we're on our own path. And I think that isolationalism. Isolationism, that's right. We're that individualized kind of thing where we're just into our own path, into our own thing. Hey, that can be great. That can Be like, sometimes you got to go within and you got to find the power there. But listen, when you go within to find the power there, don't miss the people starving right around you, right? So many people tell me, especially millennials, they say, well, Brendan, I don't feel like I fit in. And I'm like, well, you're just starting out. Stop wondering so much. If you just fit in and start asking, how can you serve? The world is in need right now. Double down on your goodness. And for some people, if you haven't volunteered in the last year or two or five or ten, maybe it's time you got to look outside of your own striving, your own success, that own path of yours and say, okay, let me go volunteer. Let me give and let me give my time, my energy, my effort. Or maybe your way of volunteering is mentoring people. Like, so much of what I do in my entire career is just, I mentor people. That's why we do our seminars, our events. I do all these free podcasts and broadcasts. It's like, hey, I want to be there mentoring people, helping people live a better quality of life, helping them live love, matter, access that high performance experience. It ain't easy. But listen, I'm doubling down. Today was my day off. I'm doubling down. Showed up for you guys because I believe in you. And I think we've got to double down on our goodness. And right now, this is the time. So please share this message with somebody you love. Please share this message with your teams. Please share this message with somebody. Because I got no requests from anybody here today, but go double down on your goodness. Thanks, everybody.
