Brendon Burchard separates two callings: the uncomfortable push to escape frustration, which gets most people into self-improvement, and a higher one, the desire for an extraordinary life with deep relationships and meaningful work. Real fulfillment comes from noticing meaning in everyday moments and moving from forceful effort to effortless flow.

Two sounds, two callings, two sensations that we have. That first calling, that first sensation, that restlessness sometimes, or that necessity, or that frustration or that fatigue or that overwhelm or that burnout or just that really bad day or just seeing somebody else doing something. That first calling, where we go, I gotta change, I gotta improve. Things have to be better. As I shared with you on day one, that first impulse, that sensation, that feeling, that's what gets us all into personal development. That's what gets us wanting to improve our lives. And that's always what gets us in the game, Right? That's what gets us in the game. But as I said from day one, I know some of you all listen, I'm not your first seminar. I'm not your first personal development book. I'm not your first course. Some of you were born 100 years before I ever showed up on this line. I know you always make sure to tell me in the DMs. I've been here 100 years before you, young man. But I also know there's a difference between getting in the game and thriving it and loving it and feeling it with so much joy. And that difference is that second calling that doesn't just say, gosh, I'd like to improve things around the house here. I'd sure like to improve our marriage a little bit. I'd sure like to have a little more financial success for our family. I'd sure like to, you know, improve this little thing.
And I'm not.
I am not in any way bemoaning those or minimizing those. I just want you to know the difference between you two. Because that second type of calling doesn't just say, geez, I'd like to improve and survive or get by or just, you know, get things going. That second calling is, no, I want to be extraordinary. I want to have an extraordinary quality of life. I want it to feel amazing. I want to have an. An unbelievable marriage or partnership or love affair with this person. I'm gonna have so much fire here. I want to feel amazing. I don't want to be burnt out all the time because no amount of cash is worth the burnout. It isn't. It doesn't add up over a period of time, right? That fatigue, that exhaustion that comes from just the grind. Listen, I love the grind. I never complain about the grind, but I also feel like, why does it have to be feeling like that? Like there's that force versus flow. What if we could flow and enjoy the ride? What if it could feel different. And I really believe the bigger celebrations in life happen because the greater noticing of meaning. And that celebration last night was so extraordinary because you've been noticing the meaning of things, the meaning of this life, the opportunity to create meaning with your family, your friends, your career, your mission, your dream. The meaning that we can pull from each moment that's already been imbued with what is there. Just like the magic of every person.
You'Ve met here, out of 7 billion.
Souls, you sat next to that person and you had that smile or that lunch or that conversation or that inspiration or that thing you wrote down from them. That you can call that a mere cosmic coincidence or maybe it has some meaning.
