This is a YouTube video titled "Beware the risk of hiring your friends #shorts" containing a monologue from August 30, 2023, discussing the challenges and lessons learned from hiring friends in a business setting, emphasizing the importance of separating friendship from professional accountability.
A lot of people say you shouldn't hire your friends in your business and I partially agree. Friends can make great team members, but the problem usually stems from when you're friends first and you don't make business decisions because they're your friends. Uncomfortable decisions, hard decisions, even if your friend isn't performing the work that you hired them for. I suffered from this as well at my agency when I was first starting. I hired a lot of my friends but it was hard for me to actually manage them and hold them accountable because I was unwilling to have hard, hard conversations when I wasn't happy with the work they were doing for the business. So you can hire your friends. Trust me, they'll make great team members. I still have some of my friends working for me today that are amazing team members, but I've learned to have hard conversations and to separate work from friendship because those are two completely different things.
