Bob Proctor - The Science of Getting Rich LIVE Seminar (STUDY NOTES | PART 1)

Brian Moncada breaks down Bob Proctor's live seminar on Wallace Wattles' The Science of Getting Rich, covering mindset, goal setting, and wealth building. Proctor teaches that mental training matters as much as physical fitness for building wealth.
Yo, yo, what's up, guys? So this is going to be a little bit of a different video today, but I'm actually really excited about it. And the reason why you should be excited about it as well is because I've always wanted to start a sort of podcast or a video series where I am able to, you know, hold myself accountable to listening to various courses, programs, or audiobooks and be able to share the information and the reflections that I have with while listening to these books, courses or programs on self development, health and fitness, dating and relationships, how to make more money, how to earn wealth, how to build wealth, right? All of the topics that we teach here at Fit Professional, that I've constantly obsessed over, and all of the programs that I listen to on my own time already, but have never really been able to find a way to share them with you rather, than, you know, making a video on them. But I always wanted to find a way to, you know, have the best of both worlds. So, basically, what I'm saying is, in this video, I'm going to be listening to Bob Proctor, the Science of Getting Rich. He actually, this is a live seminar he did, I don't know how long ago, but he's teaching the same principles that I taught, that I shared a few of them in a recent video I just did, which you can click right here and watch that video if you want to check that one out. But in this video, I'm going to be playing Bob Proctor giving this live speech in front of a crowd on the topic of the science of getting rich from the book the Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles. And I have my journal here. I have my notes ready to go, and I'm going to be playing the audio for you while listening to it myself so I can hold myself accountable. And we can both start off our days right by consuming some really, really great information to train our mind. Because here's the biggest thing here at Fit Professional, what I've always wanted to teach was that your mind is your biggest muscle. Okay? And you need to train your mind just as much as you train your body. Because everything started for me when I started seeing results in the gym. The moment I started seeing progress in the gym, my awareness expanded at what's possible for my life, how far I can go, what I can really achieve. Because I always looked at myself as some skinny kid who was born with a very, you know, terrible chest condition that wasn't confident. I didn't like the way I looked. I didn't think girls would like Me, I didn't think I would ever be successful. And the moment I started being exposed to the world of personal development through books, through audio books, through tapes just like the one we're going to listen to right now, my awareness expanded. And then I used that awareness to push myself in the gym to build muscle. And my confidence rose in as a result. And as my confidence rose, I started shifting that awareness to other areas of my life, like my dating life, like my career, like my jobs, like the business I wanted to build, the business I'm building today. And so anyways, that's a very long run on explanation of what we're doing here today because like I said, I've always wanted to start my own podcast or some sort of video reflections where I'm listening to the audios and books and courses I would listen to normally but have a way to share it with you in real time and talk about it as we're playing it. So without further ado, in this video I'm gonna be playing the Bob Proctor Science of Getting Rich seminar that he did in front of a live crowd. I got my journal here for some notes that I can take down in real time and I hope you guys enjoy. This is going to be a very first trial one of it, but I'm super excited. So I think you guys are going to like it as well. So give this video a thumbs up before it starts because this is going to be some really, really key information that's going to help you expand your awareness because your mind's your biggest muscle. And just like you train your body, just like we train our bodies here on this channel, you got to train your mind just as much, if not more because you can have the body, guys, but if you don't have the mental state, the emotional state or the spiritual state as well, then what's the point? You just have a good looking body. But if you're not leveling up in your careers, if in your, if your business, right, the business you want to start, your dating and your love life, your family and relationships, your, your happiness, then what's the point of just having the body? So anyways, I'm going to press play and we're going to go ahead and get right into it. But you ain't living like that.
The Porsche cost 100, this is twice that. Think of this for a moment. All that's required to put the science of getting rich to work in your life is a decision.
Got my professional cocktail now.
Do you know most people will look at that and they'll say, there's got to be more to it than that. How many of you have been trying to earn a lot of money for quite a long time? How. How many have difficulty at it? You know, 1% of the population earn about 95 or 96% of all the money that's being earned. And it's a subject that is not taught in school. And when someone comes along and tells you all you have to do is make a decision, we have a difficult time buying into it because we probably worked fairly hard attempting to earn money. Now, I stumbled on this information around 43 years ago. I have been absolutely fascinated with it ever since. It takes up all my day. Some people ask me, what are your hobbies? Just studying this subject. That's all I did. And I have worked all over the world with this.
Sounds a lot like me.
Really matter where you go, you can go into different countries, into different cultures. When you get past the culture, people are essentially the same. And I think we all want to generally much the same thing. I had a man sit down with me in 1961, and he put an R on the sheet of paper, just like what you're looking at there. Then he put three letters down beside it, and he said, bob, let that represent happiness, health and wealth. And then he asked me if I thought he was a happy guy. I said, yeah, he seemed pretty happy to me. And he did. He said, have you ever seen me when I was sick? And I had to admit I hadn't. He said, have you ever seen me when I was broke? And again, I had to admit I hadn't. Well, he said, you've got to be one of the most miserable people that I've ever met. And I was. I was an unhappy guy. I was 26. As I look back at it, I think I was an unhappy kid that just grew up and stayed that way. And I believe a lot of people live that way. There's a lot of unhappy people around. I didn't have a terminal illness, but I always had a cold or a headache or a backache or something. And when it came to money, I mean, I had a problem. You see, as he said to me, he said, you're striking out in all of these areas. I was actually earning $4,000 a year at the time, and I owed six. Now, you know, that's not an uncommon.
Position for a person to be in $4,000 a year. That's crazy. That's. I think, minimum, like, the average household income is like $35,000. A year now. Geez, dude. And he owed $6,000, so he was negative $2,000 at the end of every year.
If I took everything I earned for 18 months, nothing to live on, and just paid debt, I would have just broken even. So when you look at that, you know, there's not a lot of hope. I don't think I ever thought I'd get out of debt. It never entered my mind that I could. I never really thought of earning a lot of money. I was just trying to keep the wolf away from the door. You know, the phone would ring every day, tell them I'm not there, you know, or where's the money? And hell, I thought if I knew where the money was, you wouldn't have to phone me. This was a constant problem. I have often said that you'll be absolutely amazed how much free time you have when you never have to think about money. Do you know that people spend an enormous amount of time thinking about money? If they haven't got it now, if you have got it, it's a totally different story. And I really believed, I was raised with the idea, if you're going to earn a lot of money, you've got to be really smart. And if you're going to earn a lot of money, you have to have a great education. You have to have a lot of experience. But that's not what this man told me. Now that's the man that I sat down with. His name was Raymond Douglas Stanford. Now, he's been gone for a long time, but that guy made a bigger difference in my life than anyone that has committed my life since then. Now, the little boy that he's holding, I named Raymond Douglas Proctor. That's my son. Now that little boy today is 6 foot 5. He weighs 240 pounds and he has no hair. He has three little boys that are all bigger than him. So you see, I'm going back quite a ways, but this guy, he really woke me up. He asked me some good questions and he got me thinking. Now this is the one thing he asked me, he said or suggested. And I found this in a book by Vince Rozzi over here in Philadelphia. He said, to change your life, you. You have to change your life.
I'm gonna write that down. To change your life, you have to change your life.
Now that sounds like a play on words. It did to me the first time I looked at it. But that's not a play on words. That is so basic and it's so misunderstood. Now we're going to Go through two parts here. I understand there's a break. So we're going to go to a certain point in the break.
Oh yeah. And quick heads up. This audio is about an hour and 30 minutes. My camera only records at one time for about 30 minutes and then it like stops recording. So I'm gonna probably break this up into three parts just to give you guys a heads up.
And I'm going to share some ideas with you on what can be done. And then after the break, I'm going to show you exactly how to do it. Because it's an inside job and we're forever trying to change things outside and that's not where it's at. We keep gathering information, gathering information, and it doesn't do it. I would imagine that most of you have been to a lot of seminars. I would imagine that most of you have a pretty fair collection of self help material, books and, and CDs. Michael was talking about people coming to me all the time and I said, well, that's the way I am. I've been coming to them. I'm a seminar junkie and I've been that way for 47 years. And I just can't seem to get enough of it. I think once we get hooked on the idea of developing ourselves, we never get away from it. And the people that are not hooked on the idea, they think we're a little crazy. But I wouldn't want to live in the world they're living in.
Yeah.
You know, back in 1970, I had the pleasure of being on a program in Chicago with, with just an incredible man. He wrote a book called the True Believer, Eric Hofer. And he said something on that program that stuck in my mind. He said, in times of change, the learners will inherit the earth.
In times of change, the learners will inherit the earth. And right now is a massive time of change. Right now, with the economy, with unemployment, with the world transitioning from, you know, having to be at a 9 to 5 job to now working remotely from home. The big time of change. And right now he says, in times of change, the learners will inherit the earth.
While the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with the world that no longer exists. Now run that through your mind for a couple of minutes. In times of change, the learners will inherit the earth. I took that to be metaphorical, that we'll be happy, healthy and prosperous. Well, the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with the world that no longer exists. To see there's no such thing as a learned individual. There's no such thing as an educated individual. That's a misnomer. We're either learning or we're not. Ah.
So, like, if you. If you already consider yourself someone who's learned everything or you already know enough about everything or a certain subject that you don't have to learn anymore, then you're going to be not fully equipped to handle the future because you stopped learning.
Napoleon Hill talks about education coming from the Latin educo, meaning to educe, to develop or to draw from within. So you see, we don't even have to get anything. As we really start to understand what makes everything happen, we're going to find out that we've already got everything we need. It's simply a matter of becoming aware of it. And so Ray suggested this.
We've already got everything we need. We've already got everything we need. It's simply a matter of becoming aware of it. I mean, that's so true. Because if I look back on my life and my experiences, I've always had the capabilities to do the things I'm doing today. But at the time, for better or for worse, I wasn't really aware of the actuality of making it happen. I knew I could do it. I knew I had everything I needed to do it, but I wasn't doing it.
And then he introduced me to the book. Now, the book was Napoleon Hill's book, Think and Grow Rich. I have never stopped reading this book. The book that I carry with me, I've been carrying since 1963, and I read it every day. Now, I think Hubbard pointed out that when you read a good book through the second time, you don't see something in it you didn't see before. You see something in yourself that wasn't there before. Yeah, you see, it's a repetition of the right information that'll really alter what's going on inside. And that's what you have to do. Everybody thinks it's something outside. We have to change. We have to change companies, we have changed cities, we have changed jobs. You got to change it inside. If you don't change it inside, nothing happens.
Just like in the gym, Right? Just like with building muscle, just like with fitness, just like with the body you want to have, you know how to do it. But until you change the mental programming you have in your head, how can you ever expect to be able to actually go out and do it? It's just like, you know, you're supposed to be lifting weights in the gym to build more muscle on a certain muscle, like let's say your arms, right? You got to be lifting heavier, you got to be getting stronger. But everyone always looks for the fast, easy fix to get it and to make it happen. Like, I have a friend, right, who's been trying to lose weight for a very close friend who's been trying to lose weight for like the past year and a half that I've known. And he's like, man, I just need to lose like 10 pounds. I need to lose like 15 pounds. If I, if I lost like 10, 15 pounds, I'd be shredded. And he would be. And he's, he's always looking for a way to, to hack the system, right? He's always looking for a way around the work rather than doing the work itself. But it's his awareness of the fact that he can't go around the work that's limiting him from actually achieving the body he wants because he, he knows what he needs to do. I've been telling him what he needs to do for the last year and a half, but he doesn't do it.
Well, I got into that book and I started to study. Now, he said, there's a secret in that book yet. He said, if you find a secret in the book, you can have anything you seriously want. Well, I thought that was a gross exaggeration. You know, you can have anything you want. Let me put it in proper perspective for you. I was 26, I had two months high school formal education. I had no business experience. I had an absolutely terrible work record. And here I'm reading that you can have anything you want. Now there's so much about ourselves that we don't know. And as I started to read this book, he said, there's a secret. You can give anything you want if you find the secret. Well, that was sort of like trying to sell me on the Tooth Fairy. And of course I was 26. I thought I was pretty cool. I thought it was wide awake awake, you know, and actually I was in a deep hypnotic trance and, and, and, and I was ready to reject it and, and, but Ray said to me, he said, listen, I love Bob. He said, you're not very happy. He said, you're not the healthiest guy in town. You're always broke. Now, he said, I found out something about money. And he pulled out a big wad of money. He always carried a lot of money and I was always fascinated with that because I never had any. But at any rate, he said, this stuff can't talk, but it can hear. And he said, if you Call it. It'll come. I thought, God, you know, that's sort of a nice idea. And I was ready to start hollering for it. But he said, you've got to understand how to get it. And he said, you obviously don't understand now. He said, the author of this book studied the lives of 500 of the world's most successful people.
The book he's talking about, if you guys didn't catch it, is the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. It's. At the times I've read it, I wasn't at the level of awareness I am today to be able to probably fully comprehend it. It's a really good book. I've been reading the Science of Getting Rich, obviously more, and I like that one a lot better. But if I read the book thinking, grow rich today, it'd probably be very insightful, and I probably should get it, actually. And the author, Napoleon Hill, went around interviewing, like, 500 of the world's most successful people in the world at the time, a long time ago. And he put everything he learned from interviewing these people, that what made them successful into the book Think and Grow.
Rich his entire life. Then he put it in this book. Now he said, I'm inclined to think that he knows something that you don't know. Well, I think he just sort of put me in my place, you see. And so I started to read the book and I found the secret. And the secret was so basic and simple, everything changed. Do you know, a year later, I was earning 175,000 a year? And then I took her over a million dollars a year. I mean, I had money coming in from all over the place.
You went from $4,000 a year. So I think he said a hundred and something thousand dollars a year then to a million in the two years.
And it happened so fast. But he said that in the book. He said, when money starts coming, it'll come so fast and so furious that you're going to wonder where it's been hiding through all those lean years. Well, boy, I've got. This is it. You know, I had it coming in from different countries, from different cities. And somebody will say, well, what were you doing? I don't think it matters what you're doing. I think what matters is how you're doing it.
The book the Science of Getting Rich always talks about that, too. Always. We always focus on the how. Like, how do I make the money? How do I make the money? And then Bob Proctor just said, it doesn't really matter. So much. How. It just matters so much. Like, like, like, exactly. Like, people always focus on the. Well, like, is it the Shopify, is it the E commerce, is it the marketing agency, is it the social media marketing? Like, is it the starting my own business? Is it at my current job? Right. It's not so much the what, it's more about how, how you do the thing you're doing.
See, Wallace Wattles wrote a book on the science of getting rich way back in 1903. He says you don't get rich by doing certain things. You get rich by doing things in a certain way. I thought, yes, you could find two people doing exactly the same.
You don't get rich by doing things. You get rich by doing things in a certain way. So whether you're at your 9 to 5 job or you're a busy professional, or you're someone who has your own business, or someone who's building a business or wants to build a business, you don't get rich by doing those things. You get rich by doing things in a certain way. It's the things you do in a certain way that's going to help you get rich faster, apparently thing.
And you couldn't see the difference. But one's doing it a certain way, the other isn't. It has to do with intent, it has to do with the energy that you're doing it with.
Just like in door to door sales, right? When I was doing door to door sales, there was, my managers were putting up three, four accounts a day, which is like, you know, three grand in a day. They're making three grand a day. And I was over here maybe making one or two sales a week, which is maybe, you know, $1,000 a week maybe. But these guys were 3xing, 4xing, 5xing that sometimes. And they were just doing the same job as me in the same area. They were just doing things a little bit differently.
You see, we're taught to be good little go getters. Go getters lose, they blow it. We want to be good little go givers because the law says what you put out will come back. The universe will reward you by law. This is, this is all very scientific, yet it happens with every person every time. Now, I found the secret and it was pretty basic. It was simply sit down, decide what you want, write it on a card, carry the card in your pocket and read it as often as possible every day. So I wrote on the card that I wanted to have in my possession by New year's day of 1970. I gave myself a decade to do this deal and $25,000. I really didn't believe believe it would happen. But you know something? I kept reading it. I don't know why, but I kept reading, and I did exactly what the author said. I kept reading the card, and I kept reading it, and I kept reading it. Now, because I kept reading, I started to think of earning money. Prior to that, I was thinking of debt. If you had asked me, I said I was thinking of earning money, I wasn't. I was thinking of debt. If your goal is to get out of debt, I guarantee you'll probably be in debt till you die. Ah.
He'S hitting right now. So if you guys missed it. The secret that he learned from the book to thinking from the book, thinking Grow Rich, was write down what you want, set a date of when you want it, and read it every single day. And if I look at Back on My life, this is my goal board right here. I'm not gonna share with you what's on my goal board because I think, you know, keeping your goals close to your heart is very, very important. And not really, you know, talking about it, but more important, importantly, just doing the work and being about it more than anything. But pretty much everything I've had on my goal board since I started writing my goals down consistently and looking at it every single day, including the dating and relationship life that I want has, is, has, or is come to fruition, which means that I've achieved it or I am in the process of achieving it. And it's very, very important, especially if you're someone who's young right now, whether you're a teenager or you're in your 20s or you're even in your 30s, like, having goals is no secret. We all should have goals. We know we need to have goals. But he's just said the secret that helped him as well as the secret he learned that helped all of these other 500 successful people from the book Thinking Grow Rich was writing a goal down, setting a date of when you want to have that goal, and reading it every single day. And the process of doing that is simply just reframing your mind of visualizing what you want and when you have it as if you already have it, so you can take the actions necessary to actually achieve that.
Because we become what we think about.
We become what we think about.
Whenever you think about you attract, you literally magnetize yourself to it. That's all I was ever thinking about, was debt. But I started to think of earning money Somebody said, there's good money cleaning floors. So I said, I'm not proud of, I'll clean floors. Well, I started to clean one office, then I got another one. Do you know, in less than five years I was cleaning office in Toronto, Montreal, Boston, Cleveland, Atlanta, London, England. The thing took off like a rocket. Now what really changed? I think something inside shifted, but I didn't know what it was. And I bought this book and I was giving it to everybody and nothing happened in their life. Then I got into Earl Nightingale's condensed narration of the book and I would drive around with a portable battery operated record player and I would keep playing that record over and over and over again. And everybody was starting to wonder about me. Proctor's listening to this guy, talk to him and he's saying the same thing because it's on a record. I mean, he doesn't change the story. And I'm listening to this and I'm reading the same book. I was starting to wonder about myself.
The audio he's talking about is Earl Nightingale, the Strangest Secret. Earl Nightingale, the Strangest Secret. And it's about a 30 minute audio. So it's a condensed version of Think and Grow Rich. And I've listened to this audio tons of times in my life. Probably over, probably over 300. Nah, probably more than that, maybe almost close to a thousand. It's a really good audiobook to help. Really good 30 minute audio to really drive this point home that we become what we think about.
But everything just kept changing, kept changing, kept changing. And I'd give the record to people and I'd give the book to people and nothing happened. So I reasoned that someone had to know why I changed. And they've either written it in a book or they're talking about it. So I made up my mind. I would read every book that was ever written if I had to. But I was going to find out what happened to me. And I have never stopped studying. Now, some of what I found out I'm going to share with you. And since Michael is trapping this on a dvd, you'd be wise to get it and watch it over and over and over again. No, seriously, because what I'm going to share with you is probably the most valuable information you could ever lay your hands on. And I often mention I've got license to brag about everything I talk about because none of it's mine. I have just gathered this information from some of the wisest people in the world and I have been absolutely obsessed with trying to figure out why we do what we do. And of course, you don't even have to be too quick. If you study the same thing for 40, 50 years, I mean, you're going to start to learn something about it. So that's what we're talking about now. I want to suggest that you make up your mind. You're going to get in what we call a success zone. It's. It's a way of thinking. Now get this. If 95, 96% of the population are blowing it, if 1% of the population are earning about 95% of all the money, you're not going to get a hold of. Lot of people agree with what you're doing. Most people are going to look at you kind of strange. What are you going there for? You went there last month.
Most people aren't going to understand what kind of video this is. You know, most people are going to be bored at a video like this. And maybe this video is boring. I don't know. I think that this material is something profound. So profound that I would listen. I would listen and watch a video like this just because these are the videos that I've always wanted to see other people make. And I've always wanted to create videos because there wasn't any like this. And I've never seen a video where someone's listening to the material that I listen to on my own already. But also take his time to share his thoughts in the real moment as he's listening to it, to share his insights and perspectives on the same material. And there's gonna be people watching this video that don't understand it. There's gonna be people watching this video. They're gonna say, oh, Brian, just show workout videos. We want to do workout videos. We want to see your body. Like, dude.
What are you listening to that for? You listen to that before. What are you reading? What do you read the same book over and over for? They don't understand. And you see, they're advertising their ignorance by the questions they ask. When we get into the success zone, everything in our life starts to change. But understand this, you're going to be a bit of an odd. You're out of the box. You're not one of the masses. And when you get out of the box and your whole world starts to shift. So as we go through this, let's think, Let that little yellow dot on the screen represent your level of awareness. This represents your level of awareness. This is what you're aware of now. Everything you've got in your life Everything, your relationships, your money, everything is an expression of your own level of awareness. See, people that earn 50,000 a year are not earning 50 because they want 50. People are earning 50 because they're not aware of how to earn 150 people that are suffering from headaches, they're not suffering from headaches because they want to suffer from headaches. They're suffering from headaches because they're not aware of how to eliminate the headache. It's their head. They made it ache. They can make it stop. So just see it's awareness we're after now. Think of this.
Yep, Awareness.
Little dot represents our awareness and it's responsible for everything we've got in life. Just think of how your life could change if we magnify it just a little bit. I mean, everything would start to change. Our relationships would change, we would be healthier, we would live in healthier bodies, we would know more people, we'd earn more money, we'd be able to do more interesting things. And if we just increased it a little bit more and everything starts to shift. Well, I've been living this way now for 40 years. It absolutely fascinated. I celebrated my 70th birthday last week. I got more energy than most people. 20. I have absolutely no intentions of slowing down. People said you should slow down. That's a bunch of crap. We should speed up. We've got more power. Do you know the most erudite scientist alive? Can't he guess at what you and I are capable of doing? No one knows what we're capable of. All the powers omnipresent, that's within you. Within me. Slow down. We're just starting to warm up. What we want to do is calm down. You can go at warp speed and stay very healthy if you stay relaxed. And that's really the secret. Now just imagine we expand our awareness a little more. Do you know what this program is doing for you to today? It's expanding your awareness. That's what the program is all about. Every time you come, every time you come to one of these programs, your awareness is widened. Your world starts to change. You think, oh yeah.
