This is a YouTube video titled "Cold plunges kills gains!" containing a monologue or single-speaker discussion recorded in October 2024. The speaker explains why using cold plunges immediately after workouts can hinder muscle growth, discussing the physiological effects on muscle repair and blood flow.
Yeah, I stopped using the cold plunge after my workouts because it was killing my gains. And if you do the research and you look into the science, doing the cold plunge after your workout is one of the worst things you can do. Because think about it, right? You're in the gym, you're lifting weights, and you're breaking down your muscle tissue, right? So your muscle tissue has to repair itself. And the way it repairs itself is by fueling oxygen and feeding oxygen to your muscles to repair your muscle tissue. When you get in the cold plunge, what's happening, you're restricting that muscle tissue. You're restricting your blood flow, and your body's basically going into a fight or flight state, which means it's trying to just survive. It's not going to produce muscle. Your body only produces muscle when you're in a relaxed state. Right? Cold plunge is the exact opposite of that. So it's good to do in the morning, first thing when you wake up or hours later after your workout. But if you're trying to make gains and build muscle, avoid the cold plunge after your workout. And again, look into the science. The science will show that this is true.
