How I Tricked My Brain To Like Doing Hard Things... (dopamine detox)

Brian Moncada explains how to rewire your brain to enjoy difficult tasks by managing dopamine. He covers strategies to overcome distractions and build momentum, with a focus on productivity and execution for entrepreneurs.
I tricked my brain to like doing hard things, and it was actually easier than I thought it would be. Some people refer to this as the dopamine detox. And if you're someone who's been having a hard time focusing and not getting distracted with shiny object syndrome, then this just might be the most important video you watch all year.
I think just folks just refocusing. It's probably the number one thing right now.
Just delay your dopamine, bro. It's the hardest thing. That's one of the things I'm telling myself, bro, like, you want to do all this, but, like, you're gonna keep. You're gonna keep spinning your wheels. Not everything's important. What's the most important thing? Like, posting on Instagram is not important. You know, posting on Twitter is not that important. You know, just focus on the one thing it's running ads for us, running ads, getting leads, closing more deals, scaling the hybrid offer. We do that. Everything else is easy. How do you feel?
I don't know. I think, yeah, Dopamine has just been a huge problem for me. I mean, my whole life, and not just not. Not just recently. But it's more important than ever to manage that. I feel good. I feel like. I mean, this is something I'll probably have to talk about with, like, my mindset coach, but, like, it's. I feel like there's this, like, mental ceiling for me every time I start building momentum, and I don't know where that comes from, but, like, right now I'm like, oh, shit. Like, I'm getting really good prospects in the pipeline, and I'm, like, getting distracted for some reason. With, like, B2C, I'm like, what the fuck am I doing? This is really thinking, like, this makes no fucking sense. Like, you're about to work with your. Your dream clients, and you're about to, like, you know, go do some other stupid shit. So. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know where that comes from. Probably something I need to dive into, but I. I made the. I recorded two videos yesterday, by the way, so. Back in the game. Back in the game.
There you go. Good man. I'm proud of you.
Thank you.
Just gotta say no, bro. You just gotta say no. You can do. You can. You can try to do everything, bro, but you can't do everything at once. Like, you can do anything you want. You can do anything you want. We can do anything we want. We just can't do everything at once. We just can't. So the more we delay the dopamine, the gratification. We gotta say no, right? There's power in saying no. I've realized this when I was saying yes to everything, dude. Yes to this, yes to that, yes to this, yes or that. I had no time to do anything good, build anything great. You just can't build something great when you just keep trying different things. And, you know, like me, we like to create a bunch of. And it. It's good. And. And it's not really good at the same time. So you got to build momentum. You're now having momentum. That's the thing I want you to realize. You. Everything you've done the last two, three months, four months, whatever, has led to where you are now. You get. You're getting clients, you're getting people. You're working with the people. Like, don't kill the momentum, bro. Don't. Don't do something new. Just more of the same. And find the dopamine in the work. How can you make the work more fun? That's the question we got to ask ourselves. How can I make this more fun? Can I change my office environment so I can feel better when I work, so it makes work more fun? Can I delete the dopamine receptors that I'm currently going through right now with my phone, with. With something so I can get the dopamine in the work of improving my product and service? That's what I would be thinking about.
I love that. Yeah, that. That's like. That's one of the things right now. It's like, I find it hard to get up in the morning, like, get to work right away. But I think. I think just changing, like, how I approach that, redesigning, like, actually designing, like, a system for getting to work and enjoying it, it's probably super important right now.
And also just think about the vision again, bro. Where you're going, this is a step on multiple steps of the ladder to get to where you want to go. That's why the vision has to be so big. You have to do what you're doing right now. You don't have to, but you choose to doing what you. You get to choose to do what you're doing every single day, and you get to be okay with it because you're working towards the ultimate greater vision. That's why it's so important, like, to get to where you want to go. You kind of have to go through this right now, and you can't skip these steps. You just can't. You want the biz op, you can't skip the agency. The agency done for you. Like, this is just the steps. This is what people go through. What Sam did, what Cole did, what everybody who's anybody now did. They had the agency. First they switched to the coaching, then they switched to the, you know, whatever the sass or the next thing.
Yeah, Gotcha. All right. No, this is. Yeah, I'm just gonna go execute now and focus and. Yeah, no, I appreciate you, man. This is. Always appreciate you. Super helpful. And I'll report back with some, some good stuff in the next couple weeks.
Looking forward to your next YouTube video, man.
Yes, sir. Thank you. And, yeah, I mean, I think one of the reasons I got back on is mainly because of you and that conversation we had. So, you know, thank you for that.
It's your dopamine from the content, bro.
That was always the number one thing for me. Like, it was, it was so fun making that stuff. I, I, as I was recording, I kind of felt I kind of lost the touch a little bit, but I think, I think I'll get back into it soon.
Momentum, man. You see, it's momentum. When you're doing it every week, it's easy. It just, it becomes fun. You be. Yeah, you're not as rusty, right? When you lose momentum, it's hard to build it up, right? Like, it's like imagine you're. You're trying to push a car that ran out of gas, like a truck, right? What happens? You have to get you maybe somebody else, maybe three people to push to get it to roll, and then someone's steering with. The initial push is so hard because it's at a standstill. There's no momentum. You have nothing, you have no leverage. So you're just using all your strength together, leaning your body to try to push that truck. But then what happens, right? Once you start, once you start going, your feet are pattering, you're moving it. It's good. You got momentum. You can get a little faster, faster, faster. It becomes easier. So, yeah, man, two videos is great. Start posting them. You're going to be back in momentum in noontime. You're already momentum in your business. Let's get momentum on the calendar with your YouTube. And if you just do those two things, bro.
Yeah, yeah, that's it. That, that's all I have on my channel every day. But yeah, this. I don't know where the, that stupid BTC stuff came from, but, but yeah.
No, for sure, it won't, it won't make sense. It's just not yet, dude. In My opinion.
Yeah, it's like. It's like you're. I'm busy just capping my. My. My growth by my starting.
Starting from zero all over again. You do it, bro. Starting from zero all over again.
Because I've never launched B2C before, so. Yeah, it'd be kind of dumb. Okay, gotcha.
It just helps your B2C, bro. Like this. If you think about it, right? Zoom out. You posting two videos, you helping people grow their YouTube channel, you eventually talking about what you're doing on your videos. Inevitably, when you launch a B2C, it just. It just makes sense. You try to do it now. It just. Where have you been? What have you been working on? It's like, I don't know. The story. Think about the story. The story is better, you know?
Yeah. All right.
You need anything, dude, let me know. I reached out to Akram for you already. Hit him up again. So we can both double tag team him and then obviously we can get him to see if it, you know, obviously if it's someone that could be a good fit for you. It might not be, but I think he just.
I think he just replied, actually. Yeah, he said he wants to schedule a time to chat. Man. Working. Working your magic. No, appreciate your man, as always. Glad. I'm glad you sold me to get back in here. I think I always wanted to get back here, but, like, the cash was just, you know, me. Like, if the cash ends, I'm always ready to move. But I appreciate you, like, giving me the push to get back here.
Yeah, we're working. We're still working through the product ourselves, dude. Like, I'm always getting feedback in market, and so, like, when I talk to you guys about it, I'm always genuinely trying to figure out, because I want you guys to be a part of it and I want. I want you guys to get value from it. So, yeah, your feedback was helpful. We found a good price. That makes sense. I'm happy to work with the payment plan, bro. Like, you know, we'll make it work. So I'm glad you. I'm glad you took us up on it, bro. And it's going to be a very fun year together.
Yeah, for sure. And, like, I, you know, being here, I want to try to provide as much value to the mastermind as I can. You know, just kind of as a token of reciprocation and gratitude for you putting me in here. So I think I need to get myself to a place where I can start giving more value to the rest of the group. But, you know, I'm definitely.
You already have it.
I'm excited to see you already have it.
Dude, you are the YouTube organic guy, right? Like that's what you're doing right now. You're doing it for yourself, you're doing it for clients. Everybody in here, the last few calls have been about what? YouTube. Organic. YouTube organic. YouTube organic. Wolf's posting, cam's going to post. Sam's trying to pose like we're all trying to grow on YouTube. So the more you just share what you're doing or what, what's working for your clients, naturally, dude, everything else takes care of itself. So you already have it, is what I'm saying. But yes, the more insights you can provide to us, the more your stock rises, just in general, from everybody. The more, the more business you get, the more clients you get, the more people start referring you. You know, people in the Mastermind are going to want to work with you, bro. Actually.
Oh, shit, I forgot to tell you. I'll send you a DM because I don't want to put on the recorder call. But actually, I actually am working with one of the guys in the Mastermind right now. Beautiful.
That's how it's supposed to work.
Yeah. So I completely skipped my mind, but.
Yeah, yeah, just DM me. That'd be cool. I'll let you know who it is.
Yeah, for sure. But anyways, appreciate you, man. I gotta go. I'm sure you gotta go, but thank you always and have a good one, man.
Dude, have a good weekend, man. I'll talk to you next week.
All right, peace.
