I decided to throw my clothes away today, here’s why

Brian Moncada ditched synthetic fibers like polyester and nylon over health concerns, switching to natural materials: cotton, linen, silk, and hemp. He explains why a minimalist wardrobe of natural fibers simplifies life and improves wellness.
What's up, guys? These are a pair of Lululemon workout shorts that I've been wearing for the last three years that probably cost me around $80 or so. And I'm gonna be giving these away today, as well as both of these trash bags filled with the rest of my clothes that I'm gonna be donating and giving away to other people that would like to have these clothes because of one thing that I want to show with you, share with you guys today that will hopefully get you to wake up and realize that the clothes you are wearing are slowly affecting your health. So check this out. You can see the tag here. You can see that this pair of Lululemon workout shorts. You can see the Lululemon brand right there are made out of 65% nylon, 22% polyester, 13% elastane, and then the pockets are 89% polyester and 11% elastane. And the reason why I going to be giving these away and donating these is because these shorts guys are ultimately releasing bad chemicals into your body, right? Because they're basically synthetic fiber, right? And they're stretchy, right? They're comfortable. And a lot of people are used to these kind of workout clothes when they go to lift weights or go to the gym because they're stretchy and they're adaptable to your body, right? And they wick away the moist of your sweat. But ultimately it's not. Not good, because as your body elevates in body temperature, meaning you're sweating, right, Your body temperature is going up. This synthetic material, the polyester, the nylon, the rayon, the elastin, all of those synthetic fibers and plastics are now seeping into your skin, right? And that can cause a lot of health issues. Just recently, I've been learning a lot about this, and a lot of the health issues that this can cause. Is your hormone, your hormones to be off balance, right? Affecting your testosterone levels. If you're a man, excuse me. And you're wearing, you know, these polyester, nylon, rayon, or elastane type, you know, workout shorts around your man parts, right? I mean, where's that plastic, you know, synthetic fiber going? All of these, you know, private parts that we use on a daily basis, and it's lowering that testosterone. Now, of course, you can look this up yourself and research it. I would highly encourage you to do so, because ultimately, this is where you can decide if you would like to support that cause for your body or decide to give away the clothes that are no longer serving you because you have the information to say, hey, I don't like the, the after effects that this could be causing my body and my health long term. And I'm going to give them away, right? I want to give them away just like Brian is. And so check this out. These right here are a pair of H and M swim trunks that, you know, I've been wearing as well. And I'm going to pull up the tag for you guys as well. Tag give you the synthetic fiber that these are made out of. So look, a hundred percent polyester right there. 100 polyester through and through. These are just, you know, typical swim trunks that most guys wear to the beach. They're short, you know, they look pretty cool. But ultimately they are made out of just totally synthetic fiber and they are not going to be good for your, your man parts right here if you keep wearing these, especially as your body temperature elevates or just in general. Right. And so the fibers that you want to look out for that your clothes are made out of that are ultimately causing you to, you know, disrupt your hormones and your testosterone levels to lower are polyester, rayon, nylon, elastane and spandex. So I would ask you to go to your closet right now or even the clothes you're wearing. Watching this video, check the tag of the clothing and see what, what material is that made out of, and I can guarantee you that it's probably made out of polyester or nylon. Right now. The clothing materials that you want your clothes to be made out of or you should prefer your clothes to be made out of whenever you go shopping, whenever you're looking for clothes are cotton. All right? Preferably organic cotton. 100% cotton. 100% organic cotton. Linen. Linen is another good fiber that's really good for your clothing. Silk, okay. Or hemp cotton. Preferably organic cotton. Linen, silk or hemp. Those four quality of materials are way better to wear, more organic and more holistic for your health and wellness long term and your skin than any of the other ones I just mentioned that are probably in your closet right now and probably made out of your favorite clothes. So what I did was I looked at my closet and I said, okay, what are the clothes that I'm no longer wearing anyways? And, and how can I just get rid of them right now? Because I'm not wearing them, number one. And number two, I know that they are no longer serving me and they're causing me potentially health problems. They're lowering my testosterone, causing me to upset my hormone balance. And so I packed them up into two Huge trash bags, guys. These are huge trash bags. And some of them. Sorry, most of them were my favorite clothes that I was wearing before. Right. And I just haven't been wearing them in a long time or whatever the case may be. But. But I was like, look, I'm at a place where I want to minimize my clothing wardrobe, number one, because I don't want to have to think a lot about what I have to wear. And number two, I only want to wear the clothes that are made of the fabric that I agree with putting on my body. Cotton, Right. Linen, silk, or hemp. And so now let me show you the power that this gives you once you do this same exercise in your life. Right. Because now that I know that these clothes right here are no longer serving me, we're going to go see how minimalistic my wardrobe is and how much better and more clear I am and how much more time I save as a result of not having to worry about what I have to wear. So check this out. This is my closet right here. And before I packed up all my clothes, I had about, you know, shirts all the way to right here. So imagine all of this. So you can see the shirts that I have still left. But imagine all of this from right here to here, packed with shirts. All of those are now gone. Packed downstairs, just like I showed you. And now I only have a few selections of shirts, all of which, by the way, are 100% cotton. Okay, 100% cotton. So the benefit of this, guys, and I would highly encourage you to do this as well, is you now can really just wear the clothes that you like to wear. So if you find a shirt that's 100% cotton, linen, silk, or hemp, that's your favorite shirt, just double down on those and just keep buying those because you like to wear it anyway. So that's what I did. And these right here are my favorite shirts. You can see I have three of them. I wear these pretty much every single day during the week. So I just got two more of them instead of one. I got two more, and they're the same size. And during the week, I usually just wear these three white shirts. I'm in Miami. White's a good color on us brown folk. And I usually pair them up with these joggers that are also cotton as well. Okay? And also, which check out your pants and your shorts, because I had a stack like this high on the behind of these. This stack right here, but a little bit higher. So I got rid of all those pants behind it and now I just have these pants. And honestly, guys, all I wear are usually just these three. These are all joggers out of 100% cotton. And so I usually just wear these three. So I'm probably. And these wear white pants. Sometimes these look good when I go out around Miami and things like that. But I usually might end up giving these away. I kept them. These are suit pants. These are some other pants that could be useful down the future. But I usually just wear these right here and then mainly these. And so the benefit of that, guys, is because now you can, number one, minimize your wardrobe. So that way, when you wake up every single morning, you don't really have to think about what you're going to wear. You can just come to your closet like I do. And I usually just pick out this shirt right here. And let me show you guys the cool part about this. So ignore the messy bed, but I'm going to show you how you can check this out. Look at this out. 100% cotton. Boom. So I know that this is my favorite shirt. This looks really good on me. So I just ordered two more of these. And now whenever I wake up in the morning during the week and I'm going to work or I'm just going to work for the day, I just throw on one of these three. And I also have my adspend.com polo shirts right here that are also made out of 100 cotton right there. So when I'm shopping now, I only look for 100% cotton. So this is a polo shirt. Polo is one of my favorite companies. I've always desired to wear polo because growing up, I thought that polo was, you know, very, very luxury. A brand that most rich people wear, which kind of is right. And if you wear it, you're successful. I got programmed by the marketing, and it worked. And look at this. 100% cotton as well. And so this is one of my favorite polos. And now I have, you know, two workout shorts kind of like around the house. Shir these are just more like white tees from the same company. And again, this is why it's really beneficial, guys, because once you find a company that you like, you can just go to their website and say, okay, what other shirts do they have that are made out of the same material that I can wear? And so I got two of these, you know, white tees. I have three of these polos. One, one polo Ralph Lauren, two adspend polos, three of my favorite shirts. And now look, I have the same company Good life. I would highly recommend checking them out. They look good for showing that you have, you know, muscles as well if you're. If you work out. I have two of the same shirts in white, but in blue now from the same company, right? So I can have a different outfit if I wanted to. And look at this. I have the same white shirt. That's my favorite shirt in black. And I like to wear these with this jogger right here is black. And blue looks really good. And so, yeah, I have more of these. And they're all the same brand. You can see, look, I have two pairs of the black tee right here that I like wearing. And so this makes it really easy because I have white, I have blue, and I have black. And that's pretty much my color palette. You can see I have a black Polo Ralph Lauren, a white Polo Ralph Lauren green Polo Ralph Lauren. Then I have more polo. And these are also button down, kind of like more dressy shirts if I do go out to dinner with family or friends. And these are also made out of 100% cotton. All right, so that's the cool part. 100% cotton. Where is this at? See if I can find it for you guys. Well, it's going to be taking a long time to find that because I'm using one hand, but trust me when I say these are 100% cotton. This one's really good. 100% cotton. 100% cotton. 100% Cotton. 100% cotton. So now when it comes to choosing a shirt, guys, I don't waste any time. I know usually what I'm going to wear. And this can be really beneficial for you too, because you might have tons of clothes just like I had right here, all the way to right here that you're no longer wearing that have synthetic fiber that the materials are made out of, including nylon, you know, polyester, rayon, elastane. And you can get rid of them now. You can donate them. And so I also have my suits now that are all made out of either linen, silk, or cotton. And so, yeah, that is how you do that. And also, guys, for shorts, what I did was I went ahead and ordered about two pairs of these shorts from Solebra. Shout out to Solebra. If you guys don't follow him on Instagram or Tinder. Not Tinder, Jesus on Twitter, I would really recommend that you do. He has a company called, well, the brand Solebra. Right? It's his brand, but it's sole apparel. This is his logo. And these are also made out of 100% cotton. So what I did was I went ahead and supported a friend's business, right? It's of kind because he's a friend of mine. I met him here in Miami when I moved here, and we went to dinner. It was just really fun. And I ordered just the same pair of shorts because I like these shorts. They're 100 cotton. I got a pair in black. I got another pair in white in case I. In case I, you know, spill something on these, because you always want to have a backup. I have another pair in black, and then I have a pair in blue. I think these are actually both blue. So I have two pairs in blue, two pairs in black. The black ones, the other black ones are dirty, and then another pair in white as backups. So you can see these are the actual shorts, right? They're white, the ones that I was wearing. And you can see that these are 100% cotton. So you might be asking yourself, okay, Brian, I get that my clothing might not be as healthy as it needs to be out of cotton, right? Linen, silk, or, you know, hemp. But do I really need to donate all of my clothes? And what if I can't afford to go just buy new clothes, right? What if I can't afford to just give away all my clothes? And because then I'll have no clothes, then I have to go spend money on buying new clothes that are made out of, you know, cotton, you know, linen, silk, or hemp. Well, I would challenge you to say, okay, look, at least go into your closet number one and look at all the clothes that you're no longer wearing that you haven't worn in months or even years like I did, and really just take those, put them to the side real quick, and ask yourself, am I really going to wear this? Do I really need to keep hanging on to this? Now, of course, if it's a pair of clothing that's very sentimental to you, where it's like your father gave it to you, your grandfather gave it to you, your mom gave it to you as a gift, your friend, whatever the case may be, obviously that may be different, right? You might want to keep that for a memory. You just might not want to wear it ever again. But if you do have clothes, which I promise you, you will, that you no longer wear or haven't worn in ages, put those to the side, bag them up in a trash bag, and then send them to Goodwill. Now, I. I know the title of this video says, I'm going to burn all my clothes. Of course, that is Just more of a clickbait title. Although I really did ask myself, like, do I really want to give these clothes away to somebody else to wear them, knowing that they are made out of synthetic fiber and plastic material that isn't going to be serving that person's body long term? And I really just came to the conclusion that, like, I'm not going to burn them because that would be, I guess, looked down upon more than giving them away. Because burning clothes instead of giving them to somebody in need who might actually like the clothes is kind of selfish, right? So there's just no win win, right? People say you should burn them. They're like, very much like, if you're so serious about not wearing them, you should burn them, right? But then there's the other side of people that's going to say, like, oh, well, you should just give them away. Someone else could use them. So, like, you can't win either way. So I decided to just give them away. So after you've bagged up your clothes, right, and you're going to give those away, and what I would also suggest is to, you know, really look at the clothes that you do wear consistently. Because like me, you probably have a shirt, a shirt that you like wearing, or your favorite shirt. You probably have a pair of shorts or pants or joggers that you usually always wear that are your favorite, right? Why not just go back to that same company if it's 100% cotton, right? Preferably organic or linen or silk or hemp, and just go buy more of those, at least two more, right? That way you have a backup pair and, and ultimately you can save yourself time in the morning from having to think about what to wear, because we only have so much time in a day, guys. And the more you spend in the morning when you wake up, having to decide what to wear or beforehand before you go to bed, right, the night before and you're trying to pick out what clothes to wear the next day. You could save yourself a lot of mental bandwidth not having to think about what to wear, because you already have, you know, a few pairs of your favorite shirt, you already have a few pairs of your favorite joggers, you already have a few pairs of your favorite shorts. And, and now it's very easy for you to choose what to wear. You don't have to think about it, it's automatic. And now you can use that precious mental bandwidth to go work on your business, to go to work with a fresh mind, to have that capacity to think about more important things. Like what you're working on or focused on that day. Right. So this exercise will be really beneficial for every single person watching right now. Okay, Go into your closet, check the material that your favorite clothing is made out of, especially the clothing that you're no longer wearing. Choose if you really are going to continue wearing that, knowing that those materials are seeping into your skin and that is causing you to have some hormone issues potentially, as well as health issues and lower testosterone. And then put those clothes that you say, you know what, I'm not going to wear these anymore. I don't wear them anyways, to the side, bag them up, and then look at the clothes that you still have that are made out of 100% cotton, silk, linen, or hemp. And then, you know, really just double down on those. Right? Just choose to buy more of those if you can, obviously. Or just wear those from now on. Right? And then this will give you a lot more clarity on, number one, knowing that you're wearing the clothing that is truly serving your health and wellness. Right? And number two, you can also know that you don't have to really think about the clothes you're going to wear because you already got rid of the clothes you're never wearing that you weren't wearing anyways, and that you can obviously continue wearing your favorite outfits because those are the ones you like anyways. And now, the next time you go shopping, guys, I hope this helps because now you can look for cotton, linen, silk, or hemp. And again, I'm at a place in my life where I just don't want to, you know, continue wearing clothes that are no longer serving my health and wellness and my body. So this is what I'm doing. I hope this helps you, and it raises your awareness that you might have some clothes that you can give away now and that you will be more cautious about what you choose to wear in the future. So without further ado, if you like this video, give it a thumbs up, guys. It would really help the channel grow. And then leave a comment down below if you have some clothes that you were no longer wearing that you decided to bag up and give away as well, that would be really cool to see. And then make sure to subscribe if you're new to this channel. And until next time, guys, keep smiling, keep learning, keep growing. I'll see you in the next video. Peace.
