A speaker shares how Brian Tracy's Psychology of Selling changed their view of sales skills. They reflect on door-to-door sales during college and why self-belief matters in everyday interactions, not just business.
The best personal development book I've ever read was Brian Tracy's Psychology of Selling. Because it taught me that life is sales and sales is life. Every day, you and I, we hear the word sales, and most people, when they hear that, they cringe, they freak out. I don't want to do sales. I'm not a salesperson. Are you? Because you're constantly having to sell yourself on you every single day. Are you good enough? Do you look good enough? Do you like yourself? Do you hate yourself? And if you don't like yourself or you can't sell yourself on you and your potential, you'll never be able to sell anybody else on anything that you try to sell them. And so when I learned that concept by learning to embrace the skill of sales, to like the skill of sales, and I also found out, thanks to Brian Tracy, that the highest paid professionals in this world are salespeople, I embraced it. I started learning sales. I did door to door sales for two summers in college while training in Arizona State University, and as a result, I liked it. I got better at it, and as a result, I made more money.
