This is a YouTube video titled "The most rookie mistake you can make in advertising #shorts" containing a monologue-style discussion from May 2, 2023, about common mistakes business owners make in advertising. The speaker uses a Tinder analogy to explain why ads should build trust and value before asking for a purchase, emphasizing the importance of nurturing potential clients rather than expecting immediate sales.
So you definitely wouldn't ask the girl you just matched with on Tinder to marry you. And what makes you think your ads should be any different? Most of the time, business owners suck at advertising because they ask for their ideal client to make a purchasing decision to buy from them on the very first ad that their ideal client sees. And it's just like that girl that you matched with on Tinder. She doesn't know you, she doesn't like you, and she definitely doesn't trust you. So she's probably not going to go on a date with you until you've earned that trust. You've demonstrated that you can actually provide for her. You're a good looking guy and, and you're not a psycho who's probably gonna kill her like Patrick Bateman in the movie American Cycle. Same with your ideal clients watching an ad from you for the very first time. You need to earn their trust, build value on the ad, and get them to actually like you by teaching them something that can help them immediately on that ad, whether they click buy or they don't. And then obviously ask them to go one step further in your funnel. Ask them on a day first. Don't ask them to marry you right out the gate.
