A business owner explains why targeting the wrong audience costs you money. He pivoted away from young fitness customers with no spending power, learning that market fit matters more than having lots of people interested in what you sell.
About two to three years. Going at one business, you're going to get a lot farther than you were. If you just tried for one or two weeks, or even two to three months, regardless, you'll be a lot farther ahead. So for me, what I ended up pivoting from first was fitness. I wanted to build my own fitness brand and sell my own fitness courses and coaching. But the only problem was my target market was young versions of myself. And quite frankly, that target market didn't have a lot of money. If you're someone who has a business right now where it's not really working, maybe your target market just doesn't have any money, it might be time to pivot, especially if you've been doing it for two or three years.
