Landing huge clients requires a long sales cycle built on trust and personalized relationship-building. The speaker breaks down why closing major deals takes patience and consistent effort to stand out from competitors.
Closing whale clients, people that you and I look up to, is completely different than closing the average client that nobody knows or has even heard about. Because the sales cycle is twice as long, sometimes up to six months. In my experience, it's not as easy as sending over a contract via email and just getting the sign without them even knowing, liking or trusting you. It takes time, it takes nurturing, and it takes constant impressions from you and value added to them for them to say, I like this guy, I trust him and he seems like he can do pretty good work that doesn't happen overnight. That takes constant impression after impression and sometimes doing things that aren't scalable. For example, like going to dinner, sending them a gift, handwriting a note and mailing it to their doorstep. These things that are meaningful but hard to do or annoying to some of you, but leave a lasting impression. That's what really allows you to close way old clients, going the extra mile as opposed to just trying to send them a 10k contract and an agreement and expecting them to sign after one email.
