This is a YouTube video titled "This story is about the time I tried “no targeting” for the first time." It contains a personal narrative from October 21, 2024, where the speaker recounts their experience testing a risky advertising strategy involving no targeting on campaigns, describing the initial losses and eventual success after several days.
One of the riskiest ad strategies I've ever tried. I got a tip from my friend and OG YouTube ads partner, Tom Breeze, and he told me that no targeting, literally no targeting on your campaigns would work better back when, like, you didn't just throw no targeting in the campaign and it would work. And I actually spent about $5,000 on this campaign as a test. And he was like, trust me, it's going to look like a bloodbath the first three, four, even five days. But day six and seven, things will start changing around and you'll start seeing a lot of conversions and you'll be printing money. And at that time, I was still working as a full time employee for my former mentor. And so this was a big risk because again, it's like $5,000 in over seven days. It's a lot of money. It's 35 grand. And luckily I had enough trust built and I didn't really have to ask for permission, but I did it because I was like, okay, well, big risk, massive reward, small risk, not big of a reward. And the first four or five days I was panicking, man. We were losing money. I was ready to turn it off, but I just kept my cool. I was able to withdraw my emotions, and by day six and seven, all of a sudden, cost per call dropped, cost per lead dropped, cost per sale dropped, and we started literally printing money.
